It may not be a sustained trend, but there were at least three instances of people having their cell phones forcibly taken from them this week. That follows an incident last week in which a woman who was talking on a cell phone was pushed to the ground and robbed of her phone.
ROBBERY 05/25/10, 1800 block of N. Moore Street. On May 25 at 9:45 pm, an unknown woman and man approached a man waiting at a bus stop. The male suspect asked the victim if he had a cell phone. When the victim pulled it out, the suspects stole it and fled on foot. Both suspect were African American and in their early 20’s. The male suspect was 5’6″ and wearing a black jacket, black jeans and a black head covering. The female was 5’5″ with a heavy build, and was wearing blue jean, a blue jacket and carried a purse.
ROBBERY 05/26/10, 4300 block of N. 4th Street. On May 26 at 12:30 am, a man was talking on his cell phone outside an apartment building when a group of men approached him. They surrounded him and stole money and his cell phone. The six suspects were African American males.
ROBBERY 05/26/10, 200 block of N. Piedmont Street. On May 26 at midnight, a man was carrying a case of water and was approached by a group of six unknown subjects in their early 20’s. Two men assaulted him and stole money and a cell phone from his pocket. The suspects then fled. The first suspect is described as an African American male, 5’6″ with a large stomach wearing only pants. The second suspect is a female with a dark complexion, 5’5″, with dark spiky hair, partially dyed green. The third suspect is described as a “short and fat” African American female wearing dark clothing. The fourth suspect was a “tall and skinny” African American female wearing a white t-shirt. The other suspect descriptions are unknown.

ROBBERY 05/22/10, 2600 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. On May 22 at 8:45 pm, a man was drinking in a park when he was approached by an acquaintance. The acquaintance demanded money, and stabbed the victim in the abdomen when it was not provide. The suspect then fled. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is a white Hispanic male in his 40’s, 5’8″ and 180 lbs. He was wearing a light colored shirt and camouflage pants.
ATTEMPT ROBBERY 05/20/10, Wilson Boulevard at N. Quinn Street. On May 20 at 1 am, a group of people was walking when a vehicle pulled up beside them. The passenger in the car displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspects drove off when the victims could not give them money. The suspect vehicle is described as an older model grey sedan with tinted windows. The passenger is described as an African American male with a bandana over his face wearing a black baseball hat and a short sleeve shirt.
ASSAULT ON POLICE-ARREST 05/20/10, 1300 block of N. Nelson Street. On May 20 at 11:15 pm, a police officer was assaulted while dealing with an intoxicated and disorderly suspect. Jonathan Hall, 44, of Arlington, was charged with Assault on Law Enforcement, Resisting Arrest and Drunk in Public. He was held without bond.
INDECENT EXPOSURE-ARREST 05/25/10, 2700 block of S. Quincy Street. On May 25 at 4:20 pm, a deputy located a subject exposing himself in a parking garage. Adrian Donald, 27, of Washington D.C., was charged with Indecent Exposure. He was held without bond.
GRAND LARCENY-ARREST 05/17/10, 3000 block of Wilson Boulevard. Over a period of three years, a couple fraudulently obtained Medicaid benefits and food stamps. Shahjahan Chowdhury, 56, and Shayla Chowdhury, 42, both of Dumfries, were charged with Larceny by False Pretence.
GRAND LARCENY-ARREST 05/17/10, 3000 v Wilson Boulevard. Over an eight-month period in 2009, a woman submitted false applications for Food Stamps and forged the signature of a school official. Lanetta White, 33, of Arlington, was charged with Larceny by False Pretences and Forgery.
BURGLARY 05/19/10, 900 block of S. Irving Street. On May 19 between 8″30 am and 10 am, an unknown subject entered a residence and stole various items including electronics and jewelry. There is no suspect description.
BURGLARY 05/19/10, 1600 block of S. Eads Street. Between 11 am on May 16, and 5:30 pm on May 19, an unknown suspect stole jewelry from an apartment. There are no known suspects.
BURGLARY 05/21/10, 400 block of N. Kenmore Street. Between 2 pm on May 16, and 8 am on May 21, an unknown subject entered a garage and stole various electronics. There are no known suspects.
BURGLARY 05/21/10, 1400 block of N. Lincoln Street. On May 21 between 9:30 am and 10:30 am, an unknown person entered a house and stole items. A suspect was arrested in a related case.
BURGLARY 05/22/10, 1500 block of N. Rhodes Street. On May 22 at 11 pm, a woman returned home to find an unknown man inside her apartment. The suspect ran from the apartment when confronted. He is described as a white Hispanic male in his 30’s, 5’7″ and 180 lbs. He was wearing a dark colored t-shirt and khaki cargo pants.
ATTEMPT COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 05/26/10, 2700 block of Clarendon Boulevard. On May 26 at 2 am, three unknown subjects were seen attempting to break a glass window to gain access to a business. They were unsuccessful and fled on foot. The three suspects were dressed in all black clothing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY-ARREST 05/21/10, 600 block of N. Kenmore Street. On May 21 between 9:30 am and 10 am, a man was seen trespassing inside a garage. Donald Brown, 46, of no fixed address, was charged with Unlawful Entry and Trespassing. He was held without bond.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY 05/22/10, 2200 block of Crystal Drive. On May 22 near noon, an unknown man was seen attempting to break into a secure office suite. The suspect is described as an African American male around 50 years old, 6′ and 220 lbs. He was wearing a white hat, a white button down shirt, khaki pants and carried a blue backpack.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 05/19/10, 1200 block of S. Clark Street. On May 19 between 9 am and 1 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least three vehicles in a parking garage. Various items were stolen. There is no suspect description.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 05/19/10, 600 block of N. Glebe Road. On May 19 between 9 am and 12:30 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles in the mall parking garage. Various items were stolen. There are no known suspects.
