Crime Report: Rude Behavior Edition

It’s generally considered good manners to hold the door open for strangers. We’re pretty sure, however, that Miss Manners would not approve of pummeling someone who fails to partake in such common courtesy.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 05/26/10, 1200 block of S. Eads Street. On May 26 at 9:30 pm, one woman assaulted another after the victim did not hold the door open. Atiba Ayala, 19, of Washington D.C., was charged with Assault and Battery. She was held on a $1,500 bond.

Elsewhere, some jerk(s) slashed the tires on at least 20 cars this week.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES) 05/29/10, Lyon Park Neighborhood. Between 11 pm on May 28, and 7 am on May 29, an unknown subject vandalized at least 12 cars in the neighborhood. There is no suspect description.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES) 05/31/10, 1800 block of N. Roosevelt Street. Between 11 pm on May 30, and 7 am on May 31, an unknown subject vandalized at least eight cars in the neighborhood. There is no suspect description.

ROBBERY 05/28/10, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. On May 28 at 4 pm, two unknown men robbed two juvenile males of their cell phones. The suspects were both African American men in their 20’s. The first was 6’5″, 180 lbs, and wearing a blue long sleeve shirt, jeans, and a yellow skullcap. The second suspect was 6′, 185 lbs with dreadlocks, and was wearing a purple short sleeve shirt with jeans.

ROBBERY 05/30/10, 1100 block of S. 23rd Street. On May 30 at 9:50 pm, two men displayed a handgun and stole a cell phone from a man walking on the street. The suspects were both African American males in their mid-20’s wearing dark clothing.

SEXUAL BATTERY 05/31/10, 1800 block of N. Scott Street. On May 31 at 10:30 pm, a woman was walking when an unknown man asked her for directions. He then touched her breast before running from the area. The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20’s with a shaved head and an average build. He was wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

DEATH INVESTIGATION 05/26/10, 1400 block of N. Taft Street. On May 26 at 3:50 pm, a man attempted to step over a wall on a roof terrace and fell several stories to the street below. He was transported to a local hospital where he died. The victim has been identified as John C. Hamilton, 29, of Arlington. The incident appears accidental.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST 05/30/10, 5000 block of S. 9th Street. On May 30 at 2:45 am, a group of subjects was involved in a fight. Kevin Warren, 34, of Alexandria, Lenin Rodriguez, 29, of Silver Spring, MD, and Jose Izaguirre, 28, of Arlington, were all charged with Malicious Wounding. They were held without bond.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY 05/30/10, 1400 block of S. Monroe Street. On May 30 at 6 pm, a man reported that a stranger asked him for money, and assaulted him without stealing anything. The suspect is described as a white male in his 20’s, blonde, 6′, and 150 lbs with a goatee.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY 05/31/10, 900 block of N. Stafford Street. On May 31 at 1 am, an unknown male punched a subject walking through a parking lot. The suspect was an Asian male in his mid-20’s whit shoulder length black hair.

GRAND LARCENY-ARREST 05/31/10, 4500 block of S. 31st Street. On May 31 at 3 am, two men were seen entering several cars on a street. Police apprehended the suspects. Edgar Montoya, 27, of Arlington, was charged with Entering the Vehicle of Another and Grand Larceny. He was held on a $5,000 bond. Elmer Hernandez, 27, of Arlington, was charged with Grand Larceny. He was held on a $2,500 bond.

EXPOSURE 05/28/10, 5600 block of S. 2nd Street. On May 28 at 9:50 am, a naked man was seen running through a park. The suspect was a white male in his 40’s with red hair. He possibly left the area in a silver sedan.

EXPOSURE 05/28/10, 4500 block of Washington Boulevard. On May 28 at 3:30 pm, two 14 years old females saw a man expose himself in an alley. The suspect is described as a white male with an average build.

BURGLARY 05/31/10, 2000 block of N. Scott Street. On May 31 between 2:30 am and 10:30 am, an unknown subject entered an apartment through a window and stole various electronic equipment. There are no known suspects.

BURGLARY 06/01/10, 1100 block of N. Stuart Street. On June 1 at 10:10 pm, a woman found an unknown man entering her residence. He fled when confronted. Various items were stolen from the garage. The suspect is described as an African American male around 18 years of age, 5’5″ with a thin build. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 06/01/10, 3200 block of Columbia Pike. Between 10:30 pm on May 30 and 11:30 am on May 31, an unknown subject entered a restaurant and stole kitchen equipment. There is no suspect description.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY 05/26/10, 1800 block of N. Quinn Street. On May 26 at 9:15 pm, an unknown man attempted to enter an apartment through a window. The victim yelled and the suspect fled. He is described as a white Hispanic male.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY 05/29/10, 900 block of N. Quintana Street. Between 10 am on May 28, and 8:30 am on May 29, an unknown person attempted to enter a house through the rear door. There are no known suspects.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY 05/30/24, 1400 block of N. Hartford Street. On May 30 at 1 am, a woman saw a man attempt to enter her house. When she yelled, the suspect ran off. The suspect is described as an African American male, 6’2″ with a thin build, wearing a white button down shirt with a black t-shirt underneath and jeans.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 05/27/10, 1400 and 1500 blocks of S. George Mason Drive. Between 11 pm on May 26, and 7 am on May 27, an unknown subject entered at least two vehicles in the same area. Various items were stolen. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 05/27/10, 5500 block of Columbia Pike. Between 9:30 pm on May 26, and 7 am on May 27, an unknown subject entered at three vehicles in the same parking lot. Various items were stolen. There are no known suspects.
