This week’s Arlington County Crime Report contains a five creepy incidents that all occurred in north Arlington. Four incidents happened at night, but one happened yesterday in Ballston during the day. In the first incident, at least the suspect had the good sense to apologize.
SEXUAL BATTERY 08/22/10, 700 block of N. Wayne Street. On August 22 at 2:15 am, an unknown man approached a woman from behind and put his hand up her skirt. The victim confronted the suspect and he apologized and left the area. The suspect is described as an African American male in his late 20’s, 5’7″, wearing a black tank top and dark basketball shorts.
ATTEMPT SEXUAL BATTERY 08/24/10, 4300 block of Fairfax Drive. On August 24 at 3:45 pm, a woman was walking in a parking garage when an unknown suspect reached under her skirt. The suspect fled when she yelled. He is described as an African American male in his late 20’s, 5’8″ wearing dark clothing.
PEEPING TOM 08/21/10, 1200 block of N. Quinn Street. On August 21 at 2:45 am, a woman heard a noise outside her bedroom window. When she looked outside, a man wearing light colored pants fled from the area.
PEEPING TOM 08/21/10, 1600 block of N. 21st Street. On August 21 at 12:50 am, a witness saw an unknown man looking in apartment windows. The suspect was a tall and thin white male in his 20’s wearing a dark t-shirt and shorts.
PEEPING TOM 08/22/10, 1600 block of N. 21st Street. On August 22 at 10:30 pm, a woman noticed an unknown person peering into her apartment. There is no suspect description.

DEATH INVESTIGATION 08/19/10, 600 block of N. Glebe Road. On August 19 at 8 pm, a woman fell several stories from a mall parking garage. She was transported to a local hospital and died. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY-ARREST 08/21/10, 2100 block of S. Pollard Street. On August 21 at 12:40 am, three men assaulted another man and stole money. Two suspects were apprehended. Jose Chavez Flores, 31, of Arlington, and Henry Guzman Alvarado, 37, of Arlington, were both charged with Robbery. They were held without bond.
LATE ROBBERY 08/24/10, 400 block of N. Glebe Road. On August 22 at 10 am, an unknown male stole a purse from a woman standing at a bus stop. The suspect was a 40 year-old African American male, 6′ and 160 lbs. He was wearing a yellow t-shirt and black pants.
DISCHARGE A FIREARM-ARREST 08/24/10, 3000 block of S. Randolph Street. On August 24 at 2 am, an intoxicated male threw a chair through his apartment window and discharged a weapon inside as well. No one was injured. James Stensland, 53, of Arlington, was charged with Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm in an Occupied Dwelling. He was held on a $5,000 bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 08/19/10, 600 block of N. Glebe Road. On August 19 at 12:30 am, a man was punched by a female suspect. Julia Thompson, 21, of Falls Church, was charged with Assault and Battery. She was held on a $3,500 bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 08/22/10, 4700 block of N. Carlin Springs Road. On August 22 at 10 pm, a man assaulted another man attempting to walk past him on a sidewalk. Salvador Cornejo, 47, Falls Church, was charged with Assault and battery. He was held on a $1,000 bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY 08/21/10, 1200 block of N. Stafford Street. On August 21 at 3 am, a woman was walking while talking on her cell phone when an unknown man pulled her to the ground. When she started screaming, he fled the area. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his 20’s with a medium height and build.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY 08/24/10, 3400 block of Washington Boulevard. On August 24 at 8:15 am, an unknown suspect entered the grocery store, became irate and assaulted an employee. He also destroyed items in the store. The suspect is described as a 30-year-old white male with a ponytail, 6′ tall. He was last seen wearing a cream-colored shirt, tan pants and a black hat.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY 08/24/10, 2900 block of Wilson Boulevard. On August 24 at 4:30 pm, a man was assaulted by a former roommate.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 08/19/10, 4400 block of Four Mile Drive. On August 19 at 2 am, officers responded to a domestic assault. When officers attempted to arrest the suspect, he forcibly took a flashlight from an officer, and continued to resist arrest. Carlos Noel Pietri Vargas, 21, of Arlington, was charged with Domestic Assault and Battery, Resisting Arrest, Disarming a Law Enforcement Officer, and Obstruction of Justice. He was held on a $2,500 bond.
BURGLARY-ARREST 08/25/10, 200 block of N. Thomas Street. On August 25 at 3 am, an intoxicated male broke into an apartment through a window. He was located by police. Hector Leon Castro, 21, of Arlington, was charged with Burglary. He was held on a $10,000 bond.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 08/19/10, 1500 block of Wilson Boulevard. On August 19 between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm, an unknown subject entered at least two vehicles by smashing out a window in each, and stole cash. There are no known suspects.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 08/23/10, 600 block of N. Glebe Road. On August 23 between 10 am and 11 am, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles in the same parking garage and stole various items. There are no known suspects.
ATTEMPT GRAND LARCENY AUTO (SERIES) 08/22/10, 700 block of N. Glebe Road. Between 7:30 pm on August 21, and 9 am on August 22, an unknown subject broke into three vehicles at a car dealership and attempted to steal them. There are no known suspects.
