Early this morning, police responded to the small shopping center at the corner of Columbia Pike and Glebe Road for a report of men throwing rocks through the front windows of several stores. One of the two stores targeted was Mom’s Pizza Restaurant. From this week’s Arlington County crime report:
MISSILE INTO AN OCCUPIED DWELLING (SERIES) 09/01/10, 3200 block of Columbia Pike. On September 1 at 1:45 am, two subjects threw rocks into two occupied businesses, and two unoccupied businesses. Guillermo Rodriguez, 29, of Washington D.C., was charged with Drunk in Public. He was held until sober. Harris Rivera, 30, of Washington D.C., was charged with two counts of Throwing a Missile into an Occupied Dwelling and three counts of Destruction of Property. He was held without bond.

ABDUCTION-ARREST 08/28/10, 1800 block of N. Quinn Street. On August 28 at 5 pm, a woman reported that her boyfriend forcefully kept her inside her apartment a few weeks prior. Michael Nangle, 45, of Arlington was charged with Abduction and held without bond.
ROBBERY-ARREST 08/25/10, 500 block of N. Randolph Street. On August 25 at 4:30 pm, a man stole a cell phone from a teenager, injuring the juvenile and his mother in the process. The suspect ran, and handed the phone off to another male before being apprehended. Emmanuel Flowers, 20, of Capitol Heights, MD, was charged with Robbery and Possession of Marijuana. He was held without bond. The second suspect is described as an African American male in a sedan.
ROBBERY 08/28/10, 1400 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. On August 28 at 4 am, an unknown man entered a hotel, implied a handgun and demanded the money from the register. The suspect is described as an African American male in his mid 20’s, 6′ and 180 lbs, with a moustache. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, grey t-shirt and jeans.
ROBBERY/ABDUCTION 08/28/10, 3500 block of Columbia Pike. On August 28 at 12:45 pm, while walking home, the male victim was approached by two males that put him into a Dodge minivan. They took his money and then released him. Both suspects were described as white Hispanic males, 5’8″ with brown hair and brown eyes. One suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, and the second was wearing a white button up shirt.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST 08/28/10, 2300 block of N. 11th Street. On August 28 at 5:45 am, two people got into a disagreement. One of the subjects cut the other with a broken glass object. Henry Galvarro, 32, of Arlington was charged with Malicious Wounding. He was held without bond.
ATTEMPT ASSAULT ON POLICE-ARREST 08/25/10, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. On August 25 at 5:15 pm, police stopped a woman suspected of shoplifting. She fought officers and was disorderly. She was found in possession of stolen property and lied about her identity to police. Jamila Gill, 19, of Washington D.C., was charged with Attempted Assault on Law Enforcement, two counts of Forgery of a Public Document, Resisting Arrest, Identity Theft, and two counts of Petit Larceny and Receiving Stolen Property. She was held without bond.
ASSAULT ON POLICE-ARREST 08/28/10, 3200 block of Wilson Boulevard. On August 28 at 1:30 am, an intoxicated subject assaulted an officer while being arrested. Musse Mohamud, 31, of Centreville, was charged with Assault on Law Enforcement and Drunk in Public. He was given a $5000.00 secured bond.
ASSAULT ON POLICE-ARREST 08/28/10, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. On August 28 at 5 pm, an officer was punched while taking a subject into custody for assault and battery. Steven Mellott, Jr., 38, of no fixed address, was charged with Assault on Law Enforcement, Assault and Battery and Drunk in Public. He was held without bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY 08/28/10, 2700 block of S. Fern Street. On August 28 at 11:30 pm, a man was knocked to the ground, kicked, and punched by two unknown Hispanic males. The suspects were 19 to 20 years old, and wore blue shorts and black baseball hats.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 08/27/10, 1700 block of N. Moore Street. On August 27 at 8:50 pm, an intoxicated male threw a beer can at a small child and then assaulted the child’s parent. Bryan Crandall, 35, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of Assault and Battery. He was held on $3,000 bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY 08/31/10, 2400 block of Shirlington Road. On August 31 at 9:30pm, a man was punched in the face by an acquaintance after a verbal argument. Jeffrey Manley, 46, of Arlington, was charged with Assault and Battery. He was held without bond.
SEXUAL BATTERY 08/26/10, 1600 block of S. Eads Street. On August 26 at 8 am, a woman was walking to the elevator and an unknown man touched her buttocks. When she yelled, the suspect fled into the stairwell. The suspect is described as a light-skinned white male of average height and weight. He was wearing an orange and coat with the hood closed tight around his head.
SEXUAL BATTERY 08/27/10, 6500 block of Williamsburg Boulevard. On August 27 at 12:45 am, two 17-year old females were walking down the sidewalk. An unknown male touched one on her buttocks, and then “mooned” the victim before fleeing the area. The suspect is a white male in his late teens, 5’9″, wearing a white t-shirt and dark shorts.
BRANDISHING 08/26/10, 5400 block of S. 8th Road. On August 26 at 3:15 pm, an unknown male brandished a weapon at a car of people after a road rage dispute. The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-30’s, 6’3″ with a heavy build. He was bald and wore a black tank top, black shorts and black shoes. The suspect was driving a grey sedan.
BURGLARY 08/26/10, 800 block of S. Taylor Street. Between 5:30 pm on August 25, and 11:30 am on August 26, an unknown person stole $50 worth of change from a church classroom.
BURGLARY 08/28/10, 1500 block of N. Rhodes Street. On August 27 between 9 am and 3 pm, an unknown subject entered a residence through the victim’s unlocked window and stole several items. There is no suspect information.
BURGLARY 08/31/10, 1700 block of Arlington Ridge Road. On August 31 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, an unknown subject gained entry by cutting a screen on the porch. A laptop was stolen. There is no suspect information.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 08/30/10, 1900 block of Fort Myer Drive. Between 5 pm on August 27, and 8:30 am on August 30, an unknown subject entered an office suite and stole laptop computers. There is no suspect information.
GRAND LARCENY-ARREST 08/29/10, 1400 block of S. Joyce Street. On August 29 at 12 pm, two subjects were seen stealing bicycles in a closed garage. Joseph Bennett, 44, of Centerville, and Barbara Baker, 29, of Washington D.C., were charged with Grand Larceny, Possession of Burglarious Tools and Identity Theft. They were held without bond.
LARCENY OF BICYCLES (SERIES) 08/27/10, 1900 block of N. Vance Street. On August 26, 5 am and 11 am at least five bicycles were stolen by an unknown suspect.
