On construction-clogged Columbia Pike, it can be pretty annoying when one person holds up a line of traffic thanks to their infernal desire to make a turn. But you eventually realize that it’s not their fault traffic is down to one lane and there’s no turn lane in which to maneuver. So you wait.
Some jerk may blow their horn out of frustration. But it takes a special breed of really big jerk to get out of one’s vehicle, walk up to said turning driver, and show her — you know, just FYI — that you own a handgun.
BRANDISHING 09/10/10, 2600 block of Columbia Pike. On September 10 at 4:50 pm, a female driver was waiting to turn into a driveway, when the passenger of the vehicle behind her exited his car and displayed a handgun. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his 20’s, 5’9″ tall with a muscular build. He was wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST 09/13/10, 200 block of N. Glebe Road. On September 13 at 2 am, a bar patron hit the owner with a bottle and assaulted two other employees. Fouad Fillali, 47, of Falls Church, was charged with Malicious Wounding, and two counts of Assault and Battery. The warrants were served at the hospital and his bond is pending his medical release.
ROBBERY 09/13/10, 1300 block of S. Quincy Street. On September 12 at 11:30 pm, a man was approached by a female suspect who requested twenty dollars. Immediately after that, a male suspect chased the victim and forcefully took more money. The first suspect was described as an African American female, 40 years old, 5’5″ and 140 lbs, wearing a white short sleeved shirt and brown shorts. The second suspect was described as an African American male in his late 40’s, 6′, 180 lbs, with a bald head, wearing a camouflage short-sleeved shirt, and dark blue pants.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 09/10/10, 5200 block of S. 10th Place. On September 10 at 6 pm, two men were involved in a verbal argument, when one pulled out a knife and threatened the other. Rafael Mendez, 53, of Silver Spring, MD, was charged with Assault and Battery. He was given a $3,000 bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 09/12/10, 2600 block of Columbia Pike. On September 12 at 1 am, several subjects were involved in a physical altercation with the bouncers of the restaurant. Noel Valladores Delcid, 25, of Laurel, was charged with Assault and Battery and Drunk in Public. Jessica Deere, 27, of Laurel, and Teodora Rosales, 30, of Laurel, were both charged with Drunk in Public.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 09/13/10, 4100 block of Columbia Pike. On September 13 at 1 am, an intoxicated subject assaulted the victim with a beer bottle. Hugo Canedo, 20, of Silver Spring, was charged with Assault and Battery, Underage Possession of Alcohol, and Drunk in Public.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY 09/13/10, 2200 block of S. Eads Street. On September 13 at 2 am, a known acquaintance assaulted the victim and caused damage to his car.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY 09/14/10, 3600 block of Columbia Pike. On September 14 at 10:40 pm, two male suspects assaulted a third man, and fled the area. The victim was intoxicated and uncooperative with police. The first suspect is described as a white Hispanic male, 5’6″ with a medium build. The second suspect was an African American male, 6’1″ with a medium build.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 09/14/10, 300 block of N. Kensington Street. Between 6:45 pm on September 13, and 6:20 am on September 14, an unknown subject broke into a construction trailer and stole various electronic items. There is no suspect description.
ATTEMPTED COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 09/11/10, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. On September 11 at 1 am, a known suspect smashed the jewelry case at Zales Jewelers in an attempt to steal items.
