Crime Report: Serial Groper Strikes Again

In this week’s Arlington County crime report, the serial groper who targets Eastern European lifeguards strikes again.

 SEXUAL BATTERY, 08/12/11, 3400 block of S. Utah Street. On August 12 at 9:20 am, an unknown man approached a female lifeguard from behind while she was unlocking the pool gate and touched her breasts. The suspect was a white male between 25 and 35 years of age, 5’10” with a medium, muscular build. He was wearing a light blue t-shirt, khaki knee length shorts, a dark blue baseball cap and large black sunglasses.

That same day — Friday, Aug. 12 — a man in a van exposed himself to a teenage boy in the Buckingham neighborhood.

EXPOSURE, 08/12/11, 4200 block of N. Henderson Road. On August 12 at 7 am, a 17-year-old male was walking to the high school when and unknown man in a vehicle exposed himself to the juvenile. The suspect was driving a brown van and was described as a white male in his 40’s, with a chubby face, a “buzz cut” and glasses.

TAMPERING WITH AUTO (SERIES), 08/10/11, 6500 block of N. 28th Street. Between 9 pm on August 9, and 7 am on August 10, an unknown subject entered at least ten unlocked vehicles in the same area and stole a minor amount of change. There is no suspect description.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 08/10/11, 300 block of N. Thomas Street. On August 10 at 11:45 pm, two unknown males on bicycles rode by a woman and shot her in the arm with a “BB” or pellet gun. The woman suffered minor injuries. The suspects were both African American men wearing athletic shorts and t-shirts.

ABDUCTION-ARREST, 08/14/11, 500 block of N. Piedmont. On August 14 at 2:30 am, a man repeatedly tried speaking to a woman walking home by herself. She rebuffed him and he kept following her. He ran up behind her and pinned her to a car before knocking her to the ground. She screamed and a bystander chased the suspect until police arrived. Fidencio Gonzalez, 25, of Arlington, was charged with Abduction. He was held without bond.

ROBBERY, 08/10/11, 1000 block of S. Jefferson Street. On August 10 at 8:30 pm, an elderly woman was walking into an apartment building when an unknown male stole her purse off her shoulder. The suspect is described as an African American male in his 20’s, 6’1″ with a thin build. He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants. He left the area in a dark colored Jeep Grand Cherokee.

ROBBERY, 08/10/11, 1100 block of S. Emerson Street. On August 10 at 10 pm, two unknown men robbed a taxi cab driver of his wallet while threatening him with a tazer type device. The suspects were both African American men in their mid-20’s. One was 5’5″with a heavy build, wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts. The second suspect was 5’11” with a medium build, wearing a black t-shirt, black pants and a black head covering.

BANK ROBBERY, 08/16/11, 3000 block of Washington Boulevard. On August 16 at 2:10 pm, an unknown man entered a bank. He announced a robbery and demanded money. The suspect then fled with cash. He is described as a white male around 50 years old, 5’9″ tall with a thin build. The suspect wore a light colored “driving” cap, a gray t-shirt, light colored pants and sunglasses .

ATTEMPT ROBBERY-ARREST, 08/16/11, 2100 block of Clarendon Boulevard. On August 16 at 1 am, a woman was attempting to withdraw money from an ATM when a man wrapped his arm around her neck and demanded money, She broke free and canceled the transaction while yelling for help. Witnesses followed the suspct until police arrived. James Williams, 26, of no fixed address, was charged with Attempted Robbery and Grand Larceny (a previous warrant). He was held without bond.

BURGLARY, 08/13/11, 200 block of N. Edison Street. On August 13 between noon and 5:30 pm, an unknown subject broke a chain lock on a door to a residence. No items were stolen from the house.

BURGLARY, 08/16/11, 2900 block of N. 23rd Street. On August 16 between 6 pm and 6:30 pm, an unknown subject walked into an unlocked screened-in porch and stole a laptop from a purse. There is no suspect description.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 08/10/11, 700 block of N. Glebe Road. On August 10 at 5 am, a man entered a department store and stole cash from registers. The suspect is a white male wearing all dark clothing and a black baseball cap.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 08/16/11, 2100 block of N. Westmoreland Street. On August 16 between 12:30 am and 3 am, an unknown subject stole items from least four vehicles in the same block. There is no suspect description.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 08/13/11, 800 block of N. Quincy Street. Between 7:30 pm on August 12, and 8 am on August 13, an unknown subject slashed tires on at least four vehicles in the same block. There is no suspect description.
