Crime Report: Attempted Rape Near Police Station

A man has been arrested and accused of attempting to rape an unconscious woman who was passed out on a sidewalk near Courthouse.

The alleged incident took place in the early morning hours of Monday, Dec. 17, about two blocks away from Arlington County Police headquarters. From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

ATTEMPTED RAPE, 12/17/12, 1200 block of N. Troy Street. At 2 am on December 17, officers responded to a report of a woman passed out on the sidewalk and a man trying to pull her pants down. Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject standing over an unconscious female. Leonardo A. Martinez Lopez, 26, of Arlington, VA was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted rape.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 12/14/14, 2800 block of N. Glebe Road. At 9:45 pm on December 14, two Marymount University students got into an altercation. The incident escalated and the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. Francis Joseph Maguire, 20, of Burke, VA, was charged with malicious wounding and remains in custody at the Arlington County Detention Facility. Additional charges related to alcohol and narcotics are pending.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 12/18/12, 2400 block of S. Kenwood Street. At 7:00 am on December 18, two males got into a verbal altercation in a residence. The altercation escalated and the suspect repeatedly hit the victim in the head with his fists. As the subject left the scene, he threw an object at the victim’s head and then proceeded to take the victim’s vehicle. No arrests have been made at this time, but the subject has been identified.

ROBBERY BY FORCE, 12/15/12, 3600 block of S. Stafford Street. At 9:55 pm on December 15, three male suspects were observed forcefully shoving a juvenile to the ground and stealing his jacket. A passerby witnessed the robbery by force and assisted the minor in calling the police. No suspects have been found at this time. Suspect one is described as a black male, 5’6 tall and 150 pounds. At the time of the incident he was wearing a bright blue jacket. Suspect two is described as a black male, 5’11 and 160 pounds. He was described as wearing a black ski mask. Suspect three was said to have been the one that physically stole the jacket, but there is no description.

PROSTITUTION, 12/12/12, 3000 block of S. Columbia Pike. At 10 pm on December 12, two individuals were observed engaging in sexual activity in exchange for money inside a vehicle. Angelia Kennedy, 48, of Alexandria, VA, was charged with prostitution and released on a summons. Osman Javier Mejia, 33, of Arlington, VA, was charged with soliciting a prostitute and released on a summons. Richard Arden Leonard, 69, of Arlington, VA, was charged with promoting prostitution with a vehicle and released on a summons.

BURGLARY, 12/11/12, 6200 block of N. 27th Street. Between 8:40 am and 4:30 pm on December 11, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole various items to include a safe, money and jewelry. There is no suspect(s) description.

POSSESSION OF WEAPON IN SCHOOL, 12/13/12, 100 block of S. Glebe Road. At 11:30 am on December 13, two students were found in possession of knives at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Both juveniles were charged and suspended from school.
