Crime Report: Man Stabbed Near Ballston Metro

(Updated at 4:25 p.m.) A man reportedly was stabbed in the chest early Wednesday morning after exchanging words with his assailant near the Ballston Metro.

From this week’s crime report:

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 131218005, 4200 block of N. Fairfax Drive. At 1:30 am on December 18, an unknown subject allegedly stabbed a 30 year-old victim in the chest after a verbal altercation. The suspect fled on foot towards the Ballston Metro. The victim was driven by a friend to Virginia Hospital center with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is described as a black male in his thirties, approximately 5’9″ tall and 150 lbs. He was wearing a khaki colored jacket with a black vest over top of it and a light blue skullcap at the time of the incident.

ARMED ROBBERY, 131215034, 5000 block of S. Columbia Pike. On December 15 at 4:52pm, a store employee was robbed at gunpoint by a suspect demanding money. The employee complied and was punched in the face by the suspect. The suspect fled on foot from the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’7″, 150 pounds, and between 18-30 years old. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black ski mask, black jacket, grey pants, and green shoes. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY BY FORCE, 131213059, 5100 block of S. 8th Road. On December 13 at 8:25pm, a victim was robbed by an unknown suspect. The suspect put the victim in a choke hold and proceeded to rob the victim of his Nike Foamposite gym shoes. The suspect then shoved the victim and fled the scene. The suspect is described as a dark skinned Hispanic male with a light beard, approximately 5’10”, 20 years old, and about 160 pounds. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black jacket and dark pants. The suspect was with another suspect who was not involved in the robbery. This suspect is described as a light skinned male, approximately 6’2″ with a heavy build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black jacket and dark jeans and had a black backpack with him. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 131215008, 2300 block of S. Jefferson Davis Highway. On December 15 at 2:15am, two subjects acting as passengers attempted to rob a taxi cab driver. They fled on foot and were not located. The suspects are described as a white and a black male. The white male is described as medium height with a thin build, and wearing a multi colored sweater. The black male is described as being approximately 30 years old and had a heavy build. The investigation is ongoing.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 131211035, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. Between 3:30 pm and 3:41 pm on December 11, a juvenile suspect was apprehended shoplifting from Macy’s. Two Macy’s employees were assaulted by the suspect. An investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 131211048, 900 block of N. Pollard Street. Between 8:00 am and 6:30 pm on December 11, a victim found several items missing from within his apartment after coming home from work. There were no signs of forced entry. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 131215047, 1500 block of S. 12th Street. On December 15 at 9:49pm, a victim reported that a known suspect broke into her apartment through a side window and then kicked a hole in her bedroom door to gain access inside. The suspect prevented the victim from calling 9-1-1 and proceeded to destroy items throughout the apartment before fleeing on foot. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 131216016, 1800 block of S. Crystal Drive. Between 10 am and 12:30 pm on December 16, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole jewelry, a laptop and cell phone. There is no suspect(s) description.

STRANGULATION, 131213053, 500 block of N. Glebe Road. On December 13 at 6:22pm, a victim called police after a subject now identified as James Martin Tyler of Arlington, VA, 44, attempted to strangle her after seeing the victim with another male subject. Tyler was taken into custody and charged with attempted strangulation, domestic assault and battery, and preventing to call 911. He was held without bond.
