Severe thunderstorms may disrupt outdoor events in Arlington this afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that’s in effect through 9:00 p.m.
Forecasters say strong storms are possible in the D.C. and Baltimore areas.

DAMAGING THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING FOR THE BALTIMORE AND WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREAS AS WELL AS PORTIONS OF EASTERN WEST VIRGINIA…NORTHERN AND CENTRAL VIRGINIA…AND SOUTHERN MARYLAND. PLEASE MONITOR THIS SITUATION VERY CLOSELY AND ENSURE YOUR NOAA WEATHER RADIOS ARE SET TO ALERT MODE. SEVERE WEATHER WARNINGS MAY BECOME NECESSARY FOR INDIVIDUAL STORMS AND WILL ALERT WEATHER RADIOS IF ISSUED. IF ONE IS ISSUED FOR YOUR AREA…KNOW WHAT TO DO.
