Crime Report: Birthday Party Gone Bad

An early morning birthday party took a turn for the worse Sunday, when a fight broke out and a guy was struck in the head with a bottle.

The fight took place in a hotel in Courthouse, two blocks from Arlington County Police headquarters.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 140914015, 1200 block of N. Courthouse Road. At 5:30 am on September 14, a physical altercation broke out at a birthday party in a hotel room between intoxicated subjects. The dispute continued outside where police encountered several subjects attempting to flee. A male victim sustained a laceration after being struck in the head with a bottle. Celina Berrios, 21, of Lorton, VA, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. She was held without bond.

Meanwhile, in the Nauck neighborhood on Saturday, a man suspected of domestic violence bit a police officer several times and tried to disarm another, according to police.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 140913040, 2400 block of S. Lowell Street. At 2:30 pm on September 13, officers responded to a residence for a suspect in a domestic assault incident. The subject attempted to flee through a rear door and was confronted by police. The subject struck and bit the officer several times. He also assaulted and attempted to disarm a second officer as he was being taken into custody. Mark Wanzer, 24, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, providing false information to avoid prosecution, assault & battery of a law enforcement and attempting to disarm an officer. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant out of Fairfax County. He was held without bond.

ARMED ROBBERY, 140911054, 2300 block of N. 11th Street. At 11:30 pm on September 10, three unknown suspects allegedly robbed a 34 year-old male victim at gunpoint for cash. The suspects were described as black males and were wearing dark clothing with ski masks at the time of the incident.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 140915047, 2400 block of S. Kenmore Street. At 9:45 pm on September 15, during a physical altercation between two groups, three victims were sustained non-life threatening stab wounds. Each victim was transported to area hospitals. Witnesses on scene identified the suspects and police took them into custody. Satin Jones, 24, of Arlington, VA, and Tawana Jones, 39, of no fixed address, were arrested and charged with malicious wounding. They were held without bond. Timothy Lowe, 31, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding. He was also held without bond.

BURGLARY, 140911015, 2200 block of N. Fairfax Drive. Between 10 pm on September 10 and 6 am on September 11, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole numerous items. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 140911023, 1500 block of N. Lee Highway. Between 5:50 and 6:21 pm on September 10, a subject entered an office suite and stole two laptops. A surveillance camera captured a black male between 20-40 years of age, approximately 5’10” tall and 180 lbs. He was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a black baseball hat during the incident.

BURGLARY, 140915017, 1400 block of N. Taft Street. At 9:45 am on September 15, an in-home video camera caught the front desk concierge enter an apartment and consume the resident’s alcohol. Brooke Chrzan, 27, of Bethesda, MD, was arrested and charged with burglary. She was released on an unsecured bond.
