Crime Report: Woman Bound, Robbed in Buckingham

Arlington police carA woman was bound and robbed after leaving her apartment in Buckingham last week, according to the latest weekly Arlington County crime report.

Police say the woman had just left her N. George Mason Drive apartment Thursday afternoon when a masked man forced her back into the apartment, bound her hands and stole her money and cell phone. After the man fled the scene, the woman managed to escape, hail a cab and go to a friend’s house, from which she called police.

ROBBERY BY FORCE, 150129025, 100 block of N. George Mason Drive. At 2:17 pm on January 29, as a female victim was exiting her apartment she was allegedly confronted by a masked subject. The subject directed back into the apartment, bound her hands together and robbed her of cash and cell phone. Once the suspect fled, the victim ran outside and sought assistance from a cab driver. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’5″ – 5’7″ tall and 190 lbs. He was wearing a black jacket and mask.

Also last week, someone smashed the windows of at least 17 cars in a Rosslyn parking garage, stealing “numerous items” from inside.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (series), 150201014, 1900 block of N. Lynn Street. Between 11 pm on January 31 and 8:30 am on February 1, an unknown subject(s) entered a parking garage and broke into and/or damaged at least seventeen vehicles by smashing a window. Numerous items of value were stolen. There is no suspect(s) description.

ARMED ROBBERY, 150129002, 2500 block of N. Lee Highway. Just after midnight on January 29, a male victim was allegedly robbed while walking home of cash and cell phone at gunpoint. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’10” tall and 160 lbs. He was wearing a blue hoodie, dark colored jeans and black shoes. The investigation is ongoing.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 150201010, 3000 block of S. Columbia Pike. At 4:45 am on February 1, a suspect demanded money from two victims as they exited a restaurant. The victims fled the scene and the suspect was located by police in the restaurant bathroom. Matthew Howard, 26, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with attempted robbery. He was held without bond.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 150201051, 2700 block of S. Quincy Street. At approximately 6:00 pm on Feb 1, a verbal argument escalated and an intoxicated subject stabbed her boyfriend in the chest with a kitchen knife. In addition to the stabbing, the subject destroyed items in their apartment and physically assaulted him. The victim was transported to George Washington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Rery Suarez, 29, of Woodbridge, VA, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. She was held without bond.

BURGLARY, 150128020, 2200 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. Between 4 pm on January 23 and 11:24 am on January 28, an unknown subject(s) entered an office and stole cash out of a locked desk drawer. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 150203054, 2500 block of N. Clarendon Boulevard. Between January 17 and January 24, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole items to include jewelry and cash. There is no suspect(s) description.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, 150202029, 4100 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At 4:15 pm on February 2, as a 17 year-old female victim was walking home from school, an unknown suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks. The suspect fled on foot and is described as a Hispanic male in his twenties, approximately 5’11” tall and 140 lbs. He was wearing a blue beanie, long sleeve gray t-shirt with blue sleeves and jeans.

SEXUAL BATTERY, 150201009, 1000 block of N. Arlington Boulevard. At 12:43 am on February 1, as a female victim was waiting for the elevator in her apartment building, a male subject grabbed her buttocks. The suspect attempted to flee but was detained by a witness until police arrived. Abdullah Al Safari, 19, of Fairfax, VA, was arrested and charged with sexual battery. He was held on a secure bond.
