Crime Report: Young Man Gropes Butt, Teen Smashes Mug on Man’s Head

A young man groped a woman’s butt while she was walking in the Columbia Heights West neighborhood last Friday morning.

From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

SEXUAL BATTERY, 160108021, 700 block of S. Dinwiddie Street. At approximately 10:36 a.m. on January 8, an unknown male subject approached a female from behind and groped her buttocks. The suspect is described as a younger male, approximately 5’6″ and weighed 160 lbs. He was wearing a blue hoodie, green/grey cargo pants, and gray shoes.

This past weekend, a Bethesda teen was arrested after allegedly smashing a mug on a man’s head in Clarendon. According to court records, the teen’s defense attorney is state Sen. Scott Surovell.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 160109003, 3000 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1:04 a.m. on January 9, following a verbal altercation, a 19 year-old male victim was allegedly hit over the head with a glass mug. The victim was transported to the hospital with non- life threatening injuries. Jarett Witzal, 18, of Bethesda MD was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 160108018, 1800 block of N. Adams Street. At approximately 9:50 a.m. on January 8, an unknown subject forced entry into a residence and hit a 49 year-old victim over the head with a wine bottle. The victim was transported to the hospital where he suffered non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is described as a black male in his fifties, approximately 5’6″ tall with a skinny build. He was described as wearing dull colored clothing at the time of the incident.

BANK ROBBERY, 160107023, 1400 block of S. Fern Street. At approximately 10:10 a.m.on January 7, an unknown subject robbed a Wells Fargo bank of an undisclosed amount of money. The subject is described as a black male approximately 5’9″ tall. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, a red scarf, glasses, and dark colored gloves.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY, 160107032, 5000 block of S. Columbia Pike. At approximately 12:45 p.m. on January 7, two unknown subjects robbed a CVS of several items. A CVS employee was pushed by the male subject during their getaway. The first suspect is described as a black male in his forties, approximately 6’2″ and weighs 200 lbs. He was wearing a black jacket, blue shirt, blue jeans, and had on glasses. The second suspect is described as a black female in her forties, approximately 5’5″ and weighed 160 lbs. She was wearing a black jacket and black pants at the time of the incident.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 160107062, 1000 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately7:30 p.m. on January 7, an unknown male subject forced entry into a dentist office and allegedly stole cleaning supplies. The suspect is described as a black male in his forties, approximately 6’1″ and weighed 250 lbs. He was wearing a black coat, blue jeans, and a green cap at the time of the incident.

BURGLARY, 160108051, 3600 block of N. 3rd Street. Between 7:00 a.m. and 10:10 p.m.on January 8, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole several items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 160109023, 1200 block of N. Quantico Street. Between 1:00 p.m. on January 4 and 3:00 p.m. on January 9, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 160109011, 1000 block of N. Stafford Street. Between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m on January 9, an unknown subject entered a residence and stole two jackets. Steven Bayardo Rodriguez, 21, of Laurel MD, was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of burglarious tools, and petit larceny. He is being held without bond.

PEEPING TOM, 160111050, 4300 block of N. 31st Street. At approximately 10:30 p.m. on January 11, an unknown subject was seen looking through a female victim’s window. There is no suspect description.
