Crime Report: Woman Finds Man Sleeping in Her Car

Fairfax County police car lightsA woman found a man sleeping in her car in the Crystal City area early this morning.

Police were called to the 1900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway just after midnight.

The suspect fled but was found by officers, arrested and is now facing larceny and trespassing charges.

From this week’s Arlington County Police Department crime report:

LARCENY FROM AUTO (Significant), 2016-12140006, 1900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. At approximately 12:20 a.m. on December 14, officers responded to the report of a suspicious subject. A female victim found an unknown male subject sleeping in her vehicle. The victim confronted the unknown male subject, causing him to flee the scene on foot. Units positively identified a subject matching the victim’s description. Amir Mansur Haynes, 28, of Washington D.C., was arrested and charged with petit larceny, entering or setting in motion vehicle, and trespassing.

BURGLARY, 2016-12130133, 1100 block of N. Roosevelt Street. Between 5:00 p.m. on December 12 and 11:00 a.m. on December 13, an unknown subject(s) entered a building and stole numerous items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

DUI(Significant), 2016-12100007, I-395 North. At approximately 12:38 a.m. on December 10, while on a traffic stop unrelated to this incident, a male suspects’ vehicle struck an unoccupied police vehicle. Arlington County medics extricated the suspect from the vehicle and he was transported to George Washington University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two officers were struck with debris from the accident and were transported to Virginia Hospital Center and were subsequently released. During the course of the investigation, officers determined that the driver of the suspect vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. Julio Cesar Marcia Castro, 27, of Fort Washington MD, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (3+ offense or 2+ felony offense), driving with a suspended license, and driving with DUI suspended license (3+ offense in 10 years).

GRAND LARCENY AUTO(Significant), 2016-12110127, 2200 block of S. Clark Street, At approximately 10:58 a.m. on December 11, a female subject entered an unoccupied but running vehicle. The owner of the vehicle approached the suspect, but the suspect refused to exit and fled the scene in the vehicle. The female suspect then struck a vehicle stopped at a red light in the 1900 block of S. Clark Street. The female suspect was transported to Virginia Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries. Warrants were obtained for grand larceny auto, driving under the influence, and reckless driving.

BURGLARY, 2016-12120004, 4000 block of Columbia Pike. Between 12:00 p.m. on December 6 and 11:45 p.m. on December 12, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a residence and stole numerous items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2016-12090139, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 12:49 p.m. on December 9, officers responded to the report of an indecent exposure. Following a verbal dispute between two parties over parking, a male subject allegedly exposed his genitals to a male victim. Officers conducted a canvas of the area and located the suspect. Bret Wayne Reichenberg, 34, of Palm Beach FL, was arrested and charged with indecent exposure and drunk in public.

BURGLARY, 2016-12100051, 3200 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 3:25 a.m. on December 10, officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress. An unknown male subject forced entry into a business, allegedly striking an employee in the face. Arriving officers observed the male subject inside the business. The subject ignored officer’s commands to exit the business. Following several announcements by police that were unanswered by the suspect, a K9 was deployed. The suspect kicked and punched the K9. Officers were able to take the combative subject into custody. Christian Taylor, 24, of New Carrollton MD was arrested and charged with burglary, destruction of property, assault on a police dog, obstruction of justice and assault and battery.

BURGLARY, 2016-12090062, unit block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 7:10 a.m. on December 9, officers responded to the report of a late breaking and entering. An unknown subject(s) forced entry into a business and stole numerous items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 2016-12090103, unit block of N. Glebe Road. Between 10:30 p.m. on December 8 and 10:30 a.m. on December 9, an unknown male subject(s) forced entry into a business and stole numerous items of value.  There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 2016-12100111, 4600 block of Columbia Pike. Between 1:20 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on December 10, an unknown subject forced entry into a business. No items appear to be stolen. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’07”-5’11” tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, a beanie, and white tennis shoes.
