Crime Report: Man Tried to Run Over Woman As She Crossed Street With Child

A man tried to run over a woman with his car, while she was crossing a street with her child, according to this week’s Arlington County Police crime report.

The incident happened Monday afternoon in the Nauck neighborhood. Warrants have been issued for the suspect on charges of attempted malicious wounding and destruction of property, according to police.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2017-05010138, 2400 block of S. Kenmore Street. At approximately 1:20 p.m. on May 1, officers responded to the report of an attempted malicious wounding. Upon arrival, it was determined a known male subject attempted to strike a female victim with his vehicle while she was walking across the street with her child. The female victim fell to the ground in an attempt to move out of the way. The subject then fled the scene in the vehicle. Warrants have been obtained for attempted malicious wounding and destruction of property. The investigation is ongoing.

SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE, 2017-05020075, 1600 block of N. George Mason Drive. At approximately 10:39 a.m. on May 2, Arlington County Police and Fire Departments responded to the report of a suspicious package received by the mailroom at Virginia Hospital Center. During the course of the investigation, it was determined there was no immediate threat posed by the package and at approximately 1:10 pm. the all clear was given.

LATE BURGLARY, 2017-05010102, 300 block of S. 23rd Street. At approximately 10:40 a.m. on May 1, officers responded to the report of a late burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole items of value. There is no subject(s) description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO(series), 2017-05010038, 600 block of S. Stafford Street. At approximately 6:30 a.m. on May 1, officers responded to the report of a larceny from auto. Upon arrival, it was determined an unknown subject(s) entered 18 mostly unlocked vehicles and stole items of value. There is no subject(s) description.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2017-04290012, 4400 block of N. Carlin Springs Road. At approximately 11:47 p.m. on April 28, officers responded to the report of an unlawful entry. Upon arrival, it was determined a female victim awoke to an unknown male subject in her residence. The subject then fled the scene on foot. The subject is described as a male with dark hair and was wearing a white shirt and an unknown color shorts. The investigation is ongoing.

LARCENY FROM AUTO(series), 2017-04290113, 6200 block of N. 12th Street. At approximately 10:26 a.m. on April 29, officers responded to the report of a larceny from auto. Upon arrival, it was determined two unknown male subjects entered four vehicles and stole items of value. The subjects are described as males wearing long sleeve shirts and long pants. The investigation is ongoing.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (series), 2017-04300110, 2400 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 11:34 a.m. on April 30, officers responded to the report of a destruction of property. Upon arrival, it was determined an unknown subject(s) forced entry into five vehicles and rummaged through items. Two vehicles had significant damage. There is no subject(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2017-04260319, Intersection of S. Eads Street and S. 23rd Street. At approximately 11:41p.m. on April 26, officers responded to the report of a check on welfare of an individual in a vehicle. Upon arrival, the officers observed a vehicle matching the description provided by the reporting party leaving the area. The vehicle was traveling without its lights on and the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop by engaging their emergency equipment. The driver refused to stop their vehicle and allegedly attempted to strike the officer’s marked police vehicle. Following a vehicle pursuit in which the driver operated with disregard for traffic control and again attempted to strike the police vehicles, the driver was taken into custody without further incident. Deidre Sullivan, 42, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with three counts of Attempted Malicious Wounding of Law Enforcement Officer and one count of Felony Eluding. She is being held without bond.

BURGLARY, 2017-04260102, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on April 26, officers responded to the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined a known male subject forced entry into a store and stole items of value. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2017-04270256, 4200 block of S. 31st Street. At approximately 7:30 p.m. on April 27, officers responded to the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole items of value. There is no subject(s) description.
