Crime Report: Airbags Stolen from Cars in Fairlington

A number of vehicles were broken into in the Fairlington neighborhood earlier this week, according to the weekly Arlington County Police Department crime report.

The suspect — or suspects — stole airbags from the “at least five” vehicles, which, according to a police spokeswoman, were all Hondas and Acuras.

The thefts were centered around 29th Street S., between S. Buchanan and Columbus Streets, and were reported to police Tuesday morning.

LARCENY FROM AUTO(Series), 2017-05170092, 4800 block of S. 29th Street. At approximately 9:06 a.m. on May 16, officers responded to the report of a series of larcenies from auto. Upon arrival, it was determined at least five vehicles were entered and airbags were stolen. There is no subject(s) description.

ARMED ROBBERY, 2017-05150006, 5100 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 12:30 a.m. on May 15, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined two unknown male suspects approached a male victim. One suspect brandished a firearm and demanded the victim’s belongings, while the second suspect waited in the area. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. The first suspect who brandished the firearm, is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 5’9″ tall with a slim build. He was wearing a white and black scarf, a gray shirt, black jacket, and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’9″ tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a dark long sleeve shirt. The investigation is ongoing.

ARMED ROBBERY, 2017-05140150, 1000 block of S. Frederick Street. At approximately 3:45 p.m. on May 14, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined an unknown male suspect approached a male victim from behind, brandished a firearm, and robbed the victim of his belongings. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’8″ tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black zippered hoodie and dark pants. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2017-05110051, 2700 block of S. Glebe Road. At approximately 6:26 a.m. on May 10, officers responded to the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined a male subject forced entry into a store and stole items of value. The subject is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 5’5″-5’7″ tall, and weighed 240-250 lbs. He was wearing a light gray sweatshirt, black pants, and black shoes.

LATE ROBBERY, 2017-05100204, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 4:16 p.m. on May 10, officers responded to the late report of a theft that had occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined a male subject concealed merchandise and attempted to leave the store when an employee confronted him. The subject threatened the employee before fleeing the scene with the merchandise. The subject was described as a black male, approximately 35-45 years old, and was wearing a black baseball hat, black long sleeve shirt, and blue jeans. The investigation is ongoing.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (series) 2017-05100041, 1500 block of S. 11th Street. At approximately 6:45 a.m. on May 10, officers responded to the report of a larceny from auto. Upon arrival, it was determined twenty five mostly unlocked vehicles had been entered and items of value were stolen.  The investigation is ongoing.
