A would-be thief failed to steal a purse Monday evening in Rosslyn
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of Clarendon Blvd, the same block as District Taco and a Starbucks.

ATTEMPTED PURSE SNATCHING, 2017-05220224, 1500 block of Clarendon Boulevard. At approximately 5:31 p.m. on May 22, officers responded to the report of an attempted purse snatching that just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined an unknown male suspect approached a female victim from behind and attempted to steal the victim’s purse. Following a brief struggle, the suspect fled the scene without the victim’s purse. The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-twenties, approximately 5’5″ tall with a slight build. He was wearing a blue hoodie, jeans, and dark baseball cap. The investigation is ongoing.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2017-05230311, Wilson Boulevard at N. Rhodes Street. At approximately 10:30 p.m. on May 23, officers responded to the report of a man exposing himself. Upon arrival, it was determined a woman was walking in the area when she observed a male subject allegedly exposing himself. The subject is described as a black male in his late thirties, approximately 5’7″-6’3″ tall and weighed 175-230 lbs. He was wearing a dark jacket, tan pants, and baseball cap. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2017-05210275, 4500 block of Lee Highway. At approximately 10:13 p.m. on May 21, officers responded to the report of a robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined an unknown male suspect entered a store, implied that he had a weapon, and demanded cash from the cash register. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-twenties and was wearing all black clothing. The investigation is ongoing.
BRANDISHING A FIREARM, 2017-05210142, 15th Street S. at S. Eads Street. At approximately 11:29 a.m. on May 21, officers responded to the report of a brandishing of a firearm. Upon arrival, it was determined that following a traffic disagreement between two parties, the victim pulled next to the suspect’s vehicle. At that time, the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm and pointed it towards the victim’s vehicle. Jon Robert Kurtz, 55, of Alexandria VA, was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2017-05190357, 1400 block of N. Taft Street. At approximately 11:36 p.m. on May 19, officers responded to the report of an indecent exposure that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined a male subject allegedly exposed his genitals to a female victim. Airimis Arutiunian, 27, of Arlington VA, was arrested and charged with indecent exposure. He was held on a secured bond.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2017-05190030, 1900 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 2:09 a.m. on May 19, officers responded to the report of a burglary that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined a female victim came home to find an unknown male suspect in her residence. When confronted, the suspect fled the scene on foot. No items appeared to be missing. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’0″ tall and weighed 200 lbs. He was wearing a black shirt and black shorts with stripes down the side.
LATE UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2017-05180099, 600 block of S. 19th Street. At approximately 10:22 a.m. on May 18, officers responded to the report of a late unlawful entry. Upon arrival, it was determined an unknown subject(s) entered a residence between 6:00 p.m.on May 17 and 10:00 a.m. on May 18 and rummaged through items. No items appeared to be missing. There is no subject(s) description.
LATE UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2017-05180252, 1000 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 8:14 p.m. on May 18, officers responded to the report of a late unlawful entry. Upon arrival, it was determined an unknown male subject entered a residence between 10:30 p.m. on May 5 and 12:30 a.m. on May 6. The subject then fled the scene when a resident was awoken. The subject is described as a black male in his twenties. The investigation is ongoing.
PEEPING, 2017-05180295, 4300 block of Lorcom Lane. At approximately 11:48 p.m. on May 18, officers responded to the report of a peeping. Upon arrival, it was determined a known male subject was allegedly seen peeping into a residence’s window. A warrant was obtained for the subject.
