A waitress at the Ballston IHOP restaurant was robbed of cash on a weekday morning this week.
The alleged crime happened around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Police say a man approached the waitress and “stole a billfold containing an undisclosed amount of cash from her hand,” before running off.

LARCENY, 2019-07300101, 900 block of N. Stafford Street. At approximately 10:45 a.m. on July 30, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male suspect approached a waitress and stole a billfold containing an undisclosed amount of cash from her hand. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2019-07300104, 5000 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 10:56 a.m. on July 30, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglary just discovered. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 4:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. on July 30, an unknown suspect(s) forced entry to a business, tampered with items, causing damage, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and items of value. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING BY CAUSTIC AGENT, 2019-07290209, 2100 block of 15th Street N. At approximately 8:49 p.m. on July 29, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male suspect entered a business and began browsing merchandise. An employee observed the suspect allegedly place items into his bag and confronted him. A brief struggle ensued and the suspect sprayed the employee with pepper spray, before fleeing prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s, wearing a white t-shirt and blue overalls. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2019-07290213, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 29, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that four suspects entered a business and each selected multiple items of merchandise and began to exit the business. Two employees attempted to stop the suspects from exiting, when one suspect brandished a metal object and threatened one of the employees. All four suspects fled prior to police arrival. Suspect One is described as a black female, 20-40 years old, average height and build, with straight black hair, wearing a gray skirt, white tank top, black sandals and carrying a tan bag. Suspect Two is described as a black female, 20-40 years old, average height with a slightly heavier build, with red braided hair and black glasses, wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts, black shoes and carrying a pink purse. Suspect Three brandished the metal object and is described as a black female, 20-40 years old, average height and build, shoulder length black hair, wearing a light colored strapless dress, white sandals and carrying a light colored purse. Suspect Four is described as a black female, 20-40 years old, average height and build, with long black hair, wearing a white tank top, blue jeans, flats and carrying a white purse. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 2019-07290234, 1100 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 10:23 p.m. on July 29, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary just discovered. Upon arrival, it was determined that between July 26 at 6:00 a.m. and July 29 at 10:15 p.m., an unknown suspect(s) forced entry to a residence, tampered with items and stole numerous items of value and an undisclosed amount of cash. There are no suspect(s) description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
PUBLIC MASTURBATION, 2019-07280122, 2200 block of Crystal Drive. At approximately 1:00 p.m. on July 28, police were dispatched to the report of an exposure. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim observed the male suspect allegedly reach into his pants and touch himself inappropriately. Arriving officers located an individual matching the suspect description nearby. While attempting to take the suspect into custody, the suspect actively resisted. With the assistance of an additional officer arriving on scene, the suspect was taken into custody. During the course of the investigation, the suspect was found to be in possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. Matthew Zolkover, 35, of Ashburn, Va., was arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice, Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance and Public Masturbation. He was held on no bond.
ROBBERY, 2019-07270247, 400 block of 23rd Street S. At approximately 8:50 p.m. on July 27, police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male suspect entered a business, approached the counter, brandished a knife and stole merchandise. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a black male, 30-40 years old, 5’9″-6’0″, wearing a green sweater, green shorts, black shoes, white socks and a khaki hat. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY (late), 2019-07260187, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 3:33 p.m. on July 26, police were dispatched to the late report of an assault and battery. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 2:15 p.m., the victim was approached by an unknown female suspect who requested to borrow his phone, to which he obliged. When the victim asked for his phone back, the female suspect began walking away. Two additional unknown male suspects then approached the victim and assaulted him. A struggle ensued and the victim was able to successfully recover his phone from the female suspect. The victim was not injured. The suspects fled prior to police arrival. Suspect One is described as a teenage black female and 5’1″-5’5″. Suspect Two is described as a teenage black male and 5’2″-5’5″. Suspect Three is described as a teenage black male. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2019-07270199, 2300 block of N. Greenbrier Court. At approximately 5:33 p.m. on July 27, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 8:30 p.m. on July 19 and 4:30 p.m. on July 27, an unknown suspect gained entry to a residence and tampered with items. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.
BRANDISHING, 2019-07240227, 2400 block of 24th Road S. At approximately 5:48 p.m. on July 24, police were dispatched to the report of a brandishing. Upon arrival, it was determined the witness was driving behind the suspect vehicle when he observed a handgun emerge from the passenger side window. He then observed two of the four occupants exit the vehicle and leave the scene on foot. A lookout for the suspect vehicle was broadcast and arriving officers located it in the area of 5th Street S. and S. Glebe Road and conducted a traffic stop. No weapon was located during the course of the investigation and the two occupants were not charged. The two outstanding subjects are described as black males wearing white shirts. The investigation is ongoing.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2019-07240229, 4800 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 6:22 p.m. on July 24, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was attempting to speak with another patron at a business when an unknown suspect him in the head with a bottle, causing a laceration. The suspect fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male. The investigation is ongoing.
