A pop-up storm is bringing torrential rain and strong winds to parts of the county.

At 508 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Ballston, or over Arlington, and is nearly stationary. HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles. Locations impacted include… Arlington, Alexandria, Bethesda, Falls Church, Pimmit Hills, Reagan National Airport, Mclean, Rosslyn, Crystal City, Nationals Park, Howard University, Lincolnia, Tysons Corner, Lake Barcroft, Chevy Chase, Martin’s Additions, Anacostia, American University, Friendship Village and Georgetown.
