The latest Arlington County crime report shows that mid-to-late November has been somewhat slow, crime-wise. Most of the crimes reported by Arlington Police from Nov. 17 to 23 were of the standard larceny/burglary variety.
One such incident stands out, however. Two young men from Alexandria were taken into custody in Crystal City after their alleged cell phone theft was foiled by a group of restaurant patrons.
LARCENY FROM A PERSON-ARREST 11/18/10, 2200 block of Crystal Drive. On November 18 at 7:50 pm, two men entered a restaurant and took a phone off a table. Several patrons of the restaurant stopped the suspects until police arrived. Darius Williams, 18, of Alexandria, was charged with Grand Larceny from a Person and Wearing a Mask or Hood to Conceal Identity. He was held on a $3,000 bond. Jamal Walker, 18, of Alexandria, was charged with Grand Larceny from a Person. He was held on a $2,500 bond.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 11/20/10, 4000 block of Fairfax Drive. On November 20 at midnight, a woman assaulted another woman at a bar. The suspect was also in possession of narcotics. Lauren Woloshin, 26, of Arlington, was charged with Assault and battery, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Marijuana. She was released on an unsecured bond of $5,000.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 11/22/10, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. On November 16, a man assaulted another male in a department store bathroom. The suspect was located by store security on November 22 at 5 pm. Balthazar Carrillo, 37, of Fort Washington, MD, was charged with Assault and Battery and Exposure. He was held on a $3,000 bond.
ASSAULT ON POLICE-ARREST 11/22/10, Unit block of N. Glebe Road. On November 22 at 4 pm, an intoxicated juvenile male broke a plate glass window at a restaurant. When he was arrested by police, he attempted to kick out a window on the police cruiser and assaulted two officers. He was taken to juvenile detention.
BURGLARY 11/17/10, 3600 block of S. 25th Street. On November 17 between 2 pm and 6 pm, an unknown subject entered a residence through a window with an AC unit. The suspect stole alcohol and money. There are no known suspects.
BURGLARY 11/17/10, 600 block of S. Illinois Street. On November 12 between 4 pm and 7:30 pm, an unknown person broke into a house and stole currency. There is no suspect description.
BURGLARY/ASSAULT 11/20/10, 1900 block of Columbia Pike. On November 19 at 3:30 pm, a woman’s ex-boyfriend broke into her apartment and assaulted her.
BURGLARY 11/23/10, 900 block of N. Daniel Street. Between 10:15 am on November 21, and 11:40 am on November 23, an unknown subject broke into a house through a window. Various electronics were stolen. There is no suspect description.
BURGLARY 11/23/10, 4000 block of S. 8th Street. On November 23 between 4 pm and 7 pm, an unknown person entered a townhouse by breaking a glass door. No items were taken. There are no known suspects.
UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A VEHICLE-ARREST 11/18/10, 4000 block of Four Mile Run Drive. On November 18 at 1 am, a police officer spotted a stolen vehicle. The subjects in the vehicle exited the vehicle and fled, they were apprehended. One of the suspects was a juvenile male. He was detained and petitions are pending. Ernesto Chavez-Vigil, 18, of Arlington, was charged with Unauthorized Use of an Automobile and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. He was held on a $1,500 bond.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 11/17/10, 2000 block of S. 6th Street. Between 7 pm on November 16, and 9 am on November 17, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles by smashing a car window. Various items were taken and there are no known suspects.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 11/21/10, 4700 block of Lee Highway. On November 21 between 7 pm and 8 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least three vehicles in same parking lot. Items were stolen from one vehicle. There are no known suspects.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES) 11/21/10, 2800 block of S. 18th Street, 2900-3100 blocks of S. 17th Street. On November 21 between midnight and noon, an unknown subject slashed tires on at least six vehicles in the same area. There is no suspect description.
