Crime Report: Taxi Drivers Attacked

Two weeks ago we reported on a taxi driver accused of forcing a young female customer to get out in a bad neighborhood, leading to her being attacked while walking home. Here are two reminders that taxi drivers themselves are often in harms way.

ATTEMPT ROBBERY-ARREST 11/29/10, 2100 block of Wilson Boulevard. On November 29 at 4:30 pm, a man approached a cab driver and tried to assault him while demanding money. Bukhari Daoud, 31, of no fixed address, was charged with Attempted Robbery and Drunk in Public. He was held without bond.

ROBBERY 11/30/10, 400 block of S. 23rd Street. On November 30 at 1 am, a man asked a cab driver for money, and stole his meter when the driver refused. The suspect also assaulted the victim. The suspect is known.

ROBBERY/BURGLARY 11/25/10, 1200 block of N. Powhatan Street. On November 25 at 1:20 am, a man broke into his elderly mother’s house and stole money from her purse. The suspect is known.

ROBBERY 12/01/10, 5100 block of Wilson Boulevard. On December 1 at 2:45 am, a man implied a weapon and forced a convenience store clerk to give him money from the cash register. The suspect is described as a 30 year-old African American male, 5’9″ and170 lbs. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants and shoes.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 11/24/10, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. On November 24 at 11:20 pm, a man assaulted a man that accidently bumped into him while walking. Joan Cabezas-Bastro, 24, of Springfield, was charged with Assault and Battery. He was eventually released on his own recognizance.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY 11/27/10, 2800 block of Wilson Boulevard. On November 27 at1 am, a man assaulted another man at a bar. Alex Mascelli, 25, Springfield, was charged with Assault and battery. He was held on a $2,000 bond.

BURGLARY/ASSAULT-ARREST 11/26/10, 300 block of N. George Mason Drive. On November 26 at 1 am, a man forced his way into a couple’s apartment and punched the female victim. Toribio Iboy Sis, 34, of Arlington, was charged with Burglary with the Intent to Commit Assault and Assault and Battery. He was held without bond.

BURGLARY 11/28/10, 1800 block of S. Quincy Street. Between 4 pm on November 27, and 9:15 pm on November 28, an unknown subject entered a house and stole various items. No items were taken. There are no known suspects.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 12/01/10, 2400 block of Wilson Boulevard. On December 1 at 3:20 am, an unknown subject broke into a business by breaking a glass door. The suspect stole currency. There is no description of the suspect.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY 11/26/10, 5500 block of S. 7th Road. Between 3 pm on November 23, and 7 am on November 26, an unknown subject broke into a house under renovation. There is no suspect description.

ATTEMPT BURGLARY 11/26/10, 900 block of N. Highland Street. Between 6 am on November 25, and 7:30 pm on November 26, an unknown subject attempted to break into a house through a window in a door. There is no suspect description.
