In this week’s Arlington County crime report, we find two similar cases of sexual battery. In each case, the suspect is alleged to have committed the crime while riding a bicycle.
SEXUAL BATTERY 12/04/10, 2800 block of N. 11th Street. On December 4 at 2 am, a woman was walking when an unknown male rode past her on a bicycle and grabbed her buttocks. After the woman walked further, the same suspect rode by her again, and assaulted her a second time. The suspect was wearing a dark knit cap and a dark jacket. He also had long dark hair.
SEXUAL BATTERY 12/04/10, 4400 block of N. 15th Street. On December 4 at 4:45 pm, a woman was running on a bike trail when an unknown subject rode up behind her on a bicycle and grabbed her buttocks. The suspect was an Asian or Hispanic teenage male, 5’7″ and 140 lbs. He was wearing a black puffy jacket, jeans, brown boots, and carried a green backpack.

ROBBERY 12/04/10, 2400 block of N. 14th Street. On December 4 at 1 am, a woman was walking down the sidewalk with her purse in her hand. An unknown subject rode a bicycle by her and stole the purse from her hand. The suspect was wearing dark colored clothing.
ATTEMPT ROBBERY 12/04/10, 4300 block of N. Pershing Drive. On December 4 at 6 pm, a man was walking while talking on his cell phone. An unknown subject approached him and attempted to take his cell phone. The victim was cut on the hand by a glass bottle during the assault. The suspect fled without the phone. The suspect is described as a 30-year-old African American male, 6’2″ with a medium build. The suspect was wearing a navy long-sleeve shirt, black pants, and wore his hair in short black “twists”.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 12/03/10, 1900 block Jefferson Davis Highway. On December 3 at 10:30 pm, a disorderly woman assaulted two hotel employees. Sun Young Shin, 30, of Washington D.C., was charged with two counts of Assault and Battery and Resisting Arrest. She was held on a $3,000 bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 12/04/10, 2700 block of N. 24th Street. On December 4 at 10:45 am, a man punched the driver of a county leaf vacuum truck. Kevin Love, 46, of Arlington, was charged with Assault and Battery and released on a summons.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 12/04/10, 2900 block of Columbia Pike. On December 4 at 11:45 pm, a man assaulted a waitress after pulling down a theater curtain at a business. David Beaupre, 36, of Leesburg, was charged with Assault and Battery and Destruction of Property. He was held on a $2,000 bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 12/07/10, 1400 block of N. Courthouse Road. On December 7 at 5:30 pm, a woman spit on a person walking by her, and then kicked a different person that also walked past her. Kristina Campbell, 24, of Fort Washington, MD, was charged with Assault and Battery. She was held without bond.
ASSAULT AND BATTERY 12/07/10, 4000 block of Campbell Avenue. On December 6 at 12:30 am, a man was punched by a subject known to him.
BURGLARY 12/03/10, 4300 block of N. Pershing Drive. Between 5:15 pm on December 2, and 8:30 am on December 3, an unknown suspect broke into a tool shed at an apartment complex and stole numerous tools. There are no known suspects.
BURGLARY 12/04/10, 1100 block of N. Ivanhoe Street. Between 4:30 pm on December 3, and 9 am on December 4, an unknown subject forcibly entered a house under construction and stole tools. There is no suspect description.
BURGLARY 12/05/10, 1700 block of N. Glebe Road. On December 5 at 3:40 am, a security guard discovered a broken window at a school. There is no suspect description.
BURGLARY 12/05/10, 4000 block of N. 17th Street. Between 7 am on December 4, and 6 pm on December 5, an unknown subject entered an apartment and stole a laptop computer. There are no known suspects.
BURGLARY 12/06/10, 3600 block of Four Mile Run Drive. On December 5, between 2 pm and 5 pm, an unknown person forced open the front door of a residence. No items were taken.
BURGLARY 12/07/10, 4500 block of N. Carlin Springs Road. On December 7 between 5 am and 3:30 pm, an unknown subject forcibly entered an apartment and stole a computer. There are no known suspects.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY 12/07/10, the Unit block of Glebe Road. On December 7 at midnight, an unknown subject entered a closed business. A person from the apartment above the business went to check on the noise, and the suspect fled. There is no description.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 12/01/10, 3500-3900 blocks of Wilson Boulevard. On December 1 between 8 pm and 9:15 pm, an unknown subject broke a car window on at least three vehicles and stole various items from one car. There are no known suspects.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 12/01/10, 1000 block of Arlington Boulevard. Between 7 pm on November 30, and 6:30 am on December 1, an unknown subject broke into at least five vehicles and stole various items. There is no suspect description.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 12/04/10, 2200 block of S. 27th Street. Between 7 pm on December 3, and 10:30 am on December 4, an unknown subject stole the tires from one vehicle in a parking garage, and broke into a separate vehicle in the same garage. There are no known suspects.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 12/04/10, 1200 block of N. Vernon Street. Between 5:30 pm on December 3, and 4:30 pm on December 4, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles in the same block and stole GPS units. There is no suspect description.
