This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Rebel.
The photo above may make Rebel look like a beach bum, but he’s a hard worker who chases bunnies like a champ and is training to be a therapy dog.
Here’s what Amy had to say about her friendly, energetic canine companion.
Hi my name is Rebel! Everyone compliments my mom on my name but she can’t take credit, I had it when she adopted me. When I was leaving the shelter I jumped right into the driver’s seat, we were going home and there was no turning back!
I’m a 3.5 year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog mix who used to be a country dog in Staunton, VA but moved to Northern Virginia 1.5 years ago. Making new friends is my favorite whether I’m barking at dogs across the street, running around the dog park, or letting little kids pet me; I want to meet everyone. Chasing all the bunnies in my backyard is fun too because they look just like my squeaky toys. When I’m really good I even get to tag along for happy hours and sneak some french fries from anyone willing to share.
My mom wanted a travel buddy so I go on lots of road trips with her. I’ve been all up and down the East Coast everywhere from Connecticut to Georgia but my favorite was my first trip to the beach in Charleston, SC.
People like to ask me lots of questions because I tilt my head every time I hear the words car, dog park, or Petsmart. I figure if I look cute enough they’ll take me to one of those places. This summer I hope to become a registered therapy dog to show off my sweet personality.
