Crime Report: Shoplifter Bites Security Guard

Police car lightsA store security guard was bit while trying to stop a shoplifter last week.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon on the 700 block of N. Glebe Road.

While the name of the store was not revealed by police, that’s the same block as the Macy’s at Ballston Common Mall.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2017-01250175, 700 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 1:19 p.m. on January 25, officers responded to the report of a shoplifter. A store employee attempted to stop a male suspect who was shoplifting, when a struggle ensued and the suspect bit the employee. The suspect then fled the scene without the merchandise. The suspect is described as a black male in his late twenties, approximately 5’8″-6’2″ tall and weighed 160-200 lbs. He was wearing blue jeans and a collared shirt at the time of the incident. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated on scene by medics. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2017-01270149, 1200 block of N. Veitch Street. At approximately 2:55 p.m. on January 27, officers responded to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, officers determined that several unlocked residences had been entered by an unknown male subject and several items had been reported as stolen. Officers located a suspect matching the description given by the victims. Sultan Khaled Al-hamdani, 18, of Arlington Va, was arrested and charged with burglary (x2) and grand larceny. He is being held on no bond.

RECOVERED STOLEN AUTO, 2017-01270193, block of Washington Boulevard/I-395. At approximately 4:53 p.m. on January 27, officers conducted a traffic stop for a stolen vehicle. Nancy Linous Geri, 30, of Arlington Va, was arrested and charged with grand larceny auto and driving suspended. She is being held on a $2,500 secured bond.

BURGLARY, 2017-01290269, 500 block of S. Courthouse Road. Between 5:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on January 29, an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence and stole numerous items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 2017-01240158, 7000 block of Williamsburg Boulevard. At approximately 1:02 p.m. on January 24, officers responded to the report of an attempted burglary. A female victim heard a loud banging noise at her residence and witnessed an unknown male subject attempting to push open a window. The suspect then went to the back of the residence and entered the victim’s screened in porch. Once the suspect observed the victim inside her residence, he fled the area on foot. Officers established a perimeter and a K9 search located a subject matching the description given by the victim. Johnnie Clay Jones, 60, of Springfield VA, was arrested and charged with burglary and possession of burglarious tools. He is being held without bond.
