ETC Summer Camps are back for in-person theatre and filmmaking!
Theatre and Film are uniquely suited for the return to in-person learning. We teach students about negative space — air between performers — and how we use it to tell a story. Audience experiences are primarily led by the director’s choice of stage movement (blocking). In ETC-on-Film, we teach students to choose strong shots to enhance storytelling.
Using the tool of imagination, a common camp warm-up is passing the ball of energy. We make eye contact to connect with another person across the room and “send” them energy through vocal and physical gestures.
Imagination is something we have all relied on the past year and a half: taking dream vacations in our minds or thinking of our favorite places and people that we were not able to see. Many of us have dived into stories of another time and place: binge-watching new shows, watching an old movie, or curling up with a favorite book. This summer, it’s your turn! In ETC camps, we travel to new places and take on characters different from ourselves using our imaginations. We want YOUR ideas to create new stories and adventures.
As we transition to in-person programming, we continue to update our policies and monitor recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local health and government authorities.
