Give some love to Arlington’s newest Pet of the Week, Maggie the Cat. This 7-year-old rescue was adopted by her dad earlier this year.
Although she came from a bad situation, she’s an affectionate and chill cat — until she gets the post-dinner “zoomies.”
Here’s what Maggie’s dad had to say about her life here in Arlington.
This 7-year-old feline fur baby was rescued from a bad situation earlier this year by the amazing people at Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. After a few weeks at Homeward Trails, Maggie was then adopted by a Navy man from San Diego who is on orders here in Crystal City.
Maggie is very affectionate, as she enjoys bunting and rubbing her head all over the hands and arms of the person holding her. And the only thing she loves more than sleeping on the couch is sleeping in the lap of whatever human happens to be sitting on that couch.
Though very laid back and “chill,” every evening at around 6 (right after her dinner) Maggie is overcome by a great deal of energy, and she spends the next two hours playing with her stuffed mice, stalking laser pointers, and driving her “cat dad” amusedly crazy by jumping up onto the office desk, getting gently shooed-off back to the floor, and then rebelliously repeating the same routine for at least six or seven laps before finally getting tired out.
Everybody who encounters Maggie the Cat instantly adores her as she never comes off as pretentious or self-important. Rather, Maggie just presents herself as an adorable, loving creature who only seeks the opportunity to be loved and adored back.
And since having been adopted, Maggie is “batting a thousand” in that “CAT”egory, with every new human she encounters.
