Do you like paintings? Sculpture? Drawings? Prints? Jewelry? The makers of all those things and more throughout Arlington will open their studios to visitors the last week of September.
Forty-seven artists will participate in the fourth Arlington Visual Art Studio Tour (AVAST) on September 25 and 26. Anyone can pick their favorite art works on the project’s website, find studios on the map, and visit from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. It’s a rare opportunity to meet artists in their work spaces and find out how they produce their objects.
AVAST’s Artists Directory offers a sample image plus the artist’s name and medium of expression. September 7 AVAST will publish a guide with studio addresses and a map so that visitors can plan their personal tours. Find printed guides versions at art galleries and libraries throughout Arlington, or view the maps and directory on the website. Masks are required at all studios; social distancing and other safety and health measures will be determined by individual artists.
The tour begins with a launch party at the Cody Gallery, inside Marymount University’s Ballston Center on Friday September 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. 1000 North Glebe Road, Arlington, VA, 2nd floor.
The Arlington Visual Art Studio Tour is a joint effort of independent artists and volunteers, supported by contributors including Schnider Investment group and Dominion Lighting and in cooperation with Arlington’s visual art organizations.
