The past week saw three people — the oldest of whom was 25 — arrested for alleged crimes that are straight out of the video game “Grand Theft Auto.” Despite the fact that the other two suspects are mere kids, which is its own special brand of audacity, the chutzpah award goes to the guy who police say got drunk, stole a Dominion Power utility truck, crashed it and tried to flee the scene.
GRAND LARCENY AUTO/HIT AND RUN-ARREST 04/07/10, 5200 block of N. 12th Street. On April 7 at 8 pm, a teenage suspect stole a vehicle and was then involved in a minor traffic accident. Officers apprehended the suspect and he was detained.
GRAND LARCENY AUTO-ARREST 04/09/10, I-395 South at Boundary Channel Drive. On April 9 at 8 pm, a juvenile male was found driving a stolen vehicle. He was detained.
GRAND LARCENY AUTO-ARREST 04/10/10, 700 block of N. Randolph Street. On April 10 at 3:20 am, a man was seen stealing a power truck, crashing it, and then fleeing the scene. Police located the suspect nearby. David Catalano, 25, of Fairfax, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Grand Larceny of an Automobile, and Hit and Run. He was held on a $7,500 bond.

ABDUCTION-ARREST 04/10/10, 800 block of S. Greenbrier Street. On April 10 at 7 am, a man dragged his ex-girlfriend into a vehicle against her will. When he stopped the vehicle she fled, attempted to call police. The suspect then prevented her from using her cell phone. Luis Veliz-Guzman, 32, of Arlington, was charged with Abduction, Stalking, and Interfering with Emergency Communications. He was held without bond.
ROBBERY 04/08/10, 1200 block of S. Courthouse Road. On April 8 at 6:45 pm, a man was walking while looking at his cell phone. An unknown suspect approached him and struggled with the victim, stealing the phone. The suspect is described as an African American male in his early 20’s, 5’8″ with a thin build, and shoulder length hair in braids. He was wearing a white t-shirt and black athletic shorts.
ROBBERY 04/09/10, 1400 block of S. Thomas Street. On April 9 at 2 am, a man was walking to his apartment when an unknown male knocked him to the ground. The suspect then stole the victim’s wallet. The suspect is described as an African American male, 30 years of age and 6′ with a muscular build. He was wearing a white t-shirt.
ROBBERY 04/09/10, 2400 block of S. Kenmore Street. On April 9 at 9:30 pm, an unknown male approached the victim, assaulted him, and stole his wallet and bicycle. The suspect is an African American male in his early 20’s, 6′, 145 lbs, with shoulder length dreadlocks. He was wearing a red and white t-shirt and jeans.
ROBBERY 04/14/10, 2300 block of Columbia Pike. On April 14 at 12:30 am, an unknown man approached a gas station clerk and displayed a handgun. He demanded money, and then fled on foot. The suspect is described as an African American male, 6′ and 185 lbs. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket, jeans, and a black and white scarf covering his face.
SEXUAL ASSAULT 04/07/10, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. On April 7 at 2 pm, an unknown man followed a woman from an elevator to her office door where he touched her groin area. The victim yelled and the suspect fled. He is described as an African American male in his late 20’s, 5’10”, 180 lbs with shoulder length dreadlocks in a ponytail. He was wearing a white button down shirt with blue pinstripes and blue pants.
LATE ASSAULT 04/09/10, 3500 block of Columbia Pike. On April 4 at 5:30 pm, two women argued. The suspect threatened the cut the victim, but did not touch her. The suspect is known.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT-ARREST 04/11/10, 1700 block of S. Glebe Road. On April 11 at 2 am, while officers were investigating an assault and battery, a female become aggressive with police. Once she was arrested, the suspect attempted to kick out the police vehicle’s windows. Caroline Cook, 23, of Stafford was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. She was held on a $3,000 bond.
EXPOSURE 04/09/10, 900 block of N. Barton Street. On April 9 at 10:15 pm, an unknown male knocked at an apartment window and then exposed himself. The suspect was a white male wearing all dark clothing.
BURGLARY 04/10/10, 200 block of N. Glebe Road. On April 10, between 2 am and 8 am, an unknown subject broke into an apartment and stole various items. There is no suspect description.
BURGLARY 04/11/10, 3300 block of Washington Boulevard. Between noon on April 10, and 6:45 pm on April 11, an unknown subject broke into an apartment and stole various items. There is no suspect description.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 04/14/10, 1700 block of Wilson Boulevard. Between on April 13 and on April 14, an unknown subject broke into a business and stole a cash drawer. There is no suspect description.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY 04/07/10, 4300 block of N. Pershing Drive. On April 7 at 9:20 pm, an unknown man was seen attempting to enter an apartment through a window. The man was 5’9″, 190 lbs, and had a dark complexion. He was wearing a striped polo shirt and jeans, and carried a backpack.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES)-ARREST 04/07/10, 5000 block of N. 13th Street. On April 7 at 3:30 am, a man was found breaking into vehicles. Kent McCray, 44, of Falls Church, was charged with two counts of Grand Larceny and two counts of Petit larceny. He was held without bond.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/10/10, 1300 block of N. Irving Street. On April 9 between 9 pm and 11 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles in the same block. Various items were stolen. There are no known suspects.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/10/10, 1000 block of N. Quincy Street. On April 10 between 8:45 am and 10 am, an unknown subject broke into at least two cars in the library parking lot. The suspect stole all visible valuables. There is no suspect description.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/11/10, 4700 block of Lee Highway. On April 11 at 11:30 pm, a man was seen entering a parked vehicle. The suspect fled when he saw the witness. Two vehicles were broken into, and items were stolen from one.
LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/12/10, 2000-2200 blocks of S. Eads Street. Between 6 pm on April 11, and 8 am on April 12, an unknown subject broke into at least three vehicles in the same area. Various items were stolen. There are no known suspects.
