Crime Report: Police Impersonation Edition

A man impersonating a police officer stole cash from a man’s wallet last week after asking to see his identification and vehicle registration. From the latest Arlington County crime report:

IMPERSONATING A POLICE OFFICER, 02/25/12, 3700 block of N Lee Highway. Just prior to noon on February 24, an unknown subject impersonated a police officer and stole $160 cash from a man’s wallet after asking to see identification and vehicle registration. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 45 years old, 5’9″ tall, with an average build. The suspect was reportedly driving a black convertible Ford Mustang.

Also last week, a burglar entered a residence and stole gear belong to a U.S. Park Police officer.

BURGLARY, 02/25/12, 2100 block of S. 26th Street. Between 10 pm on February 24, and 4 am on February 25, an unknown subject entered a residence and stole various items. Stolen items included a laptop, iPad and U.S. Park Police issued duty gear. There is no suspect description.

ARMED ROBBERY HOME INVASION, 02/23/12, 300 block of S. Fillmore Street. At 11:20 pm on February 23, two subjects, impersonating police officers with a search warrant, entered the victim’s house and demanded cash and jewelry. As one subject held the residents at knifepoint on the living room couch, the second subject, armed with a handgun, searched through the remainder of the house. The subjects stole approximately $12,870 in cash and jewelry. The first suspect is described as a black male, 6’2″ tall, with a medium build and was wearing a black ski mask, sunglasses, a black Northface winter coat and black gloves. The second suspect is described as a black male, 5’5″ tall, with a heavy build and was wearing eyeglasses, black coat and black pants.

BURGLARY, 02/26/12, 3800 block of N 7th Street. On February 26, at 11 am, a victim’s neighbor entered her apartment and threatened her with a knife. The subject fled the apartment when the victim’s friends heard the commotion and came into the room from the kitchen. Edward Donegan, 50, of Arlington, was located by police and charged with burglary with intent to commit a felony.

BURGLARY, 02/26/12, 600 block of S. Carlin Springs Road. Between 1:30 and 3:30 pm, on February 26, a victim returned to her apartment to find the front door ajar. An unknown subject had entered the apartment and stole $300 in cash from her purse. There is no suspect description.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, 02/28/12, 2500 block of N Fairfax Drive. Just before 10 pm on February 27, police were dispatched to Alexandria Hospital Center for a report of a sexual assault that had taken place in Arlington two days prior. A female victim had been drinking alcohol with a known male subject when the sexual assault occurred. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

PEEPING TOM, 02/26/12, 2700 block of S Veitch Street. A few minutes prior to midnight on February 26, a neighbor reported seeing a male subject looking through the windows of a residence. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, mid 20’s, approximately 5’9″ tall and 200 lbs. The suspect was wearing a dark blue jacket, dark-colored cargo pants and a black beanie.
