Crime Report: ‘I See What You Did There’ Edition

A burglar broke into a store in the Courthouse area this past weekend and made off with a pair of laptops. But it’s the other item that he or she took that seems to suggest a level of trickiness beyond the capabilities of your run-of-the-mill criminal.

BURGLARY (COMMERCIAL), 08/12/12, 2400 block of Wilson Boulevard. Between 2 and 9:30 am on August 12, an unknown subject(s) kicked in the front door of a business and stole two laptops and the store surveillance equipment. There is no suspect(s) description.

Elsewhere, someone broke into a medical office and swiped several items, including blank prescription pads. The office is located on the same block as Virginia Hospital Center.

BURGLARY, 08/09/12, 1600 block of N. George Mason Drive. Between 7:15 pm on August 8 and 7:51 am on August 9, an unknown subject(s) entered a locked office and stole various items to include cash, laptops, blank prescription pads and sample prescription packs. There is no suspect(s) description.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING (STABBING), 08/09/12, 3300 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At 1:38 pm on August 9, an adult male confronts a subject attempting to break into his vehicle and a physical altercation ensues. The victim is stabbed multiple times in the upper body with a knife and the subject flees the scene. The subject is described as a Hispanic male, between 28-32 years of age, approximately 5’9″ tall and 150 lbs. He has medium length dark hair and was wearing a white tshirt with dark jeans.

ROBBERY BY FORCE, 08/11/12, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. On August 11 at 4:25 pm, the loss prevention manager of a mall store witnessed an unknown subject stealing several watches from an accessories stand. Upon approaching the man, the subject brandished a knife and threatened the store employee. The subject fled the scene on foot. He is described as a black male and was wearing a grey polo shirt, blue jeans and a white baseball hat at the time of the incident.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, 08/12/12, 2700 block of Wilson Boulevard. At 1:50 pm on August 12, a female shopper bent down to retrieve a bottle of wine in a grocery store when a male placed his hand between her legs and on her genitalia. The subject laughed and walked away from the scene. Police located the subject approximately 4 hours later sleeping on a public bench, with a number of pornography magazines in his possession. Once in the police interview room, the subject repeatedly masturbated. Frank Alex Bouknight, 24, of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with sexual battery.

STRANGULATION, 08/11/12, 2800 block of N. 24th Street. Between 11:15 and 11:45 pm on August 6, a male subject strangled and repeatedly assaulted his pregnant ex-girlfriend when she attempted to retrieve her belongings from his residence. The victim sustained numerous bodily injuries from the assault. A man, 24, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with strangulation and domestic assault and battery. Update on 3/19/13: Suspect’s name removed due to no record of prosecution.

BURGLARY, 08/10/12, 1700 block of S. Taylor Street. On August 10 at 12:18 pm, an Arlington resident reported that her residence was broken into on August 4 by an unknown subject(s). Cash and a laptop were reported missing. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 08/11/12, 2400 block of N. Florida Street. Between 6 pm on August 10 and 10 am on August 11, an unknown subject(s) broke into a residence through a backdoor and stole a safe. The safe contained jewelry and other items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY (COMMERCIAL), 08/13/12, 5000 block of Wilson Boulevard. Between 12:30 and 9:55 am on August 13, an unknown subject(s) smashed a rear glass door of a restaurant to gain entry and stole the cash register drawer with approximately $3,000. There is no suspect(s) description.
