Crime Report: Burglaries Galore

There were numerous burglaries, robberies and stolen vehicles in this week’s Arlington County crime report. Among them were two separate reports of golf clubs stolen from storage units in Courthouse.

BURGLARY, 11/15/12, 1400 block of N. Taft Street. Between October 15 and November 15 at 7:30 pm, an unknown subject(s) broke into a storage unit. The victim reported her golf clubs were missing. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 11/19/12, 1400 block of N. Taft Street. Between August 15 and November 19 at 6:30 pm, an unknown subject(s) cut the Master lock of a storage unit and stole golf clubs. There is no suspect(s) description.

On Monday, a man dressed in a Spandex bicycle suit stole cartons of Newport cigarettes from the CVS Pharmacy in Rosslyn.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 11/27/12, 1100 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At 3:50 am on November 26, a suspect broke the glass of the front entrance door of the CVS pharmacy. Once inside, he stole numerous cartons of Newport cigarettes. The suspect is a black male, approximately in his mid 20’s to mid 30’s in age, 6’0″ tall and 180 lbs. He was wearing a spandex bicycle suit, yellow safety vest, brown beanie and white sneakers at the time of the incident.

Last week, someone ruined Christmas by stealing presents from an apartment closet in Ballston.

BURGLARY, 11/26/12, 900 block of N. Stafford Street. Between 5 pm on November 19 and 11 am on November 26, an unknown suspect(s) entered an apartment and stole two shopping bags of assorted Christmas gifts from a closet. There is no suspect(s) description.

ROBBERY, 11/17/12, 4000 block of N. 9th Street. At 1:30 am on November 17, while a female victim was walking home from the Ballston Metro, a male subject riding a bicycle took her purse and rode away. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30 years of age with short dark hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a khaki jacket at the time of the incident.

ARMED ROBBERY, 11/21/12, 1900 block of N. Daniel Street. At 11:22 pm on November 20, a victim was robbed at gunpoint during an attempt to buy 8 iPhones from a subject. The subject fled the scene with $4,400 cash and the victim’s cell phone. The suspect is described as a black male in his mid 20’s, approximately 5’7″ tall and 210 lbs. He was wearing all dark clothing with a black hat.

ROBBERY, 11/21/12, 4300 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. On November 21 at 6:10 pm, a victim was allegedly robbed of his wallet by an unknown subject in the breezeway area behind the listed address. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 35 years old, 5’9″ tall and 150 lbs. The subject was wearing all dark clothing with a scarf over his face during the incident.

ROBBERY, 11/25/12, 3100 block of N. Lee Highway. On November 25 at 1:46 am, an unknown subject entered a pharmacy store, placed several boxes of soap into a bag and attempted to leave the store without paying. When confronted by an employee, the subject stated he had a gun and fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 50 years old, 5’7″ tall and 150 lbs. He was wearing a grey coat, blue shirt and black pants at the time of the incident.

ATTEMPTED RAPE, 11/22/12, 4300 block of N. Henderson Road. At 7:54 pm on November 22, a suspect kicked in the front door of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and began punching her in the face. The suspect then pinned her against a wall and attempted to rape her. The victim’s boyfriend came out of the bathroom and confronted the suspect, calling 911 as the suspect fled the scene on foot. Police located the suspect at a nearby apartment. Mario Antonio Aroche Perez, 36, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with attempted rape, burglary and providing a false ID to police. He was held without bond.

SEXUAL BATTERY, 11/24/12, 3100 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. On November 24 at 8:48 pm, a drunk subject entered the lobby of an office building and began touching a female victim. Police located the subject in the lobby. Lelis Reyes, 34, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with sexual battery, drunk in public and failure to ID to law enforcement.

BRANDISHING A FIREARM, 11/16/12, 200 block of S. 23rd Street. At 8:31 pm on November 16, an unknown subject was engaged in a verbal altercation with a victim in a parking garage and pulled out a handgun. The suspect made threatening remarks and fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’6″ tall with a skinny build and blonde hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering and black jeans at the time of the incident.

BRANDISHING A FIREARM, 11/21/12, 3000 block of S. Randolph Street. On November 21 at 10:34 pm, a subject was irritated with loud noise from a party and began filming them from the apartment courtyard. Several individuals from the party approached the subject in the courtyard, causing the subject to brandish his firearm and fire a single shot into the air. There were no reported injuries. Patrick John Kelley, 32, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm and reckless handling of a firearm. He was held on a secured bond.

BURGLARY, 11/14/12, 1700 block of N. Culpeper Street. Between November 7 and November 8, an unknown subject(s) broke into a home construction site. The subject(s) stole a kitchen island counter and a bathroom cabinet. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 11/14/12, 5500 block of N. 19th Street. On November 14 between 1:00 pm and 3:20 pm, two unknown subjects broke into a home through a side door. The subjects stole several items from inside the home including electronics. Two white males in their late teens and both wearing dark clothing were observed fleeing the scene. The first subject was described as stocky and wearing a black helmet in addition to dark clothing, and left the scene on a black moped. The second subject fled the scene by foot.

BURGLARY, 11/15/12, 6000 block of N. 28th Street. Between November 14 at 9:30 pm and November 15 at 8:45 am, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence that is under construction and stole a washing machine. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 11/19/12, 3800 block of N. 36th Road. Between 9:30 and 11 am on November 19, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole items to include televisions, cash, jewelry and other electronics. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 11/20/12, 900 block of N. Stafford Street. Between 7:20 am and 4:30 pm on November 20, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole a DVD player. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 11/24/12, 1500 block of N. Wakefield Street. Between 1:30 and 3 pm on November 24, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole an iPad and cell phone. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 11/24/12, 5000 block of N. 19th Street. Between November 22 and 4:42 pm on November 24, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole various electronics. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 11/26/12, 3000 block of N. 4th Street. Between midnight and 6:45 am on November 26, an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence through a rear door and stole numerous items to include electronics, laptops and credit cards. There is no suspect(s) description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 11/16/12, 800 block of S. Army Navy Drive. Between 2:20 and 2:45 pm on November 16, an unknown subject(s) broke into numerous vehicles that were parked in the garage of the Pentagon City Mall and stole numerous items. Reported stolen items included electronic devices, money and clothing. There is no suspect(s) description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 11/26/12, 800 block of S. Army Navy Drive. Between 12:30 and 1:30 pm on November 26, a suspect entered 15 vehicles by punching door locks in the Pentagon City mall parking garage and stole numerous items. The suspect is described as a young black male and was wearing a white hoodie sweatshirt during the incident.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 11/19/12, 3000 block of S. Glebe Road. Between 8:30 and 9 pm on November 19, an unknown subject(s) keyed the passenger side of twelve vehicles that were parked on the shoulder of the road. There is no suspect(s) description.

ARSON, 11/24/12, 4600 block of S. 34th Street. At 2:35 pm on November 24, a juvenile subject piled leaves up on the steps and entrance of a residence and set them on fire. The subject was located by police a short distance away. The juvenile subject was released to his father and a petition is pending.
