Our latest Arlington Pet of the Week is Champ, a rescue pooch who values his leisure time and, if the email we received is to be believed, can compose surprisingly coherent sentences for a dog.
Here’s the email:
My name is Champ and I’m a rescue puggle/pit/lab mix that recently turned 6 years old. Some people like to say I resemble a pygmy hippo, but come on, I’m clearly a very attractive pooch. And I’m pretty easy-going too!
I enjoy taking 18 naps a day. It’s a nice break from vacuuming the floors every 10 minutes for any new crumbs. I also like lots of attention from mom on the couch. When she’s on her laptop, I assume she’s telling me she needs something to do with her hands, so I make sure to throw my head on the keyboard for some ear scratches.
Dad likes to call me Lurch because I tend to run diagonally at the dog park while my head is still pointing forward. He can’t wait to see me again in water. Apparently the doggy-paddle trait inherent in dogs skipped me. He also thinks I can’t make any friends. That’s not true. Yes I enjoy a little rear-end sniffing, but I prefer the company of my human counterparts. I’m sweet and gentle to everyone. Except if you ring the doorbell, then I think you are the devil incarnate. But once I meet you, I’m showing off all my toys in the basket! Now if I could just remember to put them back in when I’m done playing!
Well that was tiring. I get winded easily. Time for another nap. Enjoy the pics. You’ll see how I like to sit like a human on the couch, sleep like a gremlin, and carry around my favorite toy.
Sniff you later,
Champ
