Jane Hanley counsels women who are feeling extra anxiety and sadness, helping them rebuild self-compassion, strength and a renewed sense of purpose. If a client has weathered a painful storm recently, she can help them process their experience safely so they can heal and fully reflect on their experience.  Doing so helps her clients ultimately live life to the fullest.

Clients feel safe with Jane to not put on the happy face the rest of the world might demand of us.  Sessions are definitely a place where it’s ok to not be ok.  That comfort to feel and experience ultimately fosters self knowledge, growth and room for more emotions to flourish, such as joy and motivation.

Jane lives in Alexandria with her husband and their dogs, Tallulah and Ivy. In her spare time, she is a host with The Dinner Party, a fantastic organization that builds community around grief. For fun, she enjoys cooking, looking for the DC area’s best Tex-Mex, and rooting for the New England Patriots.  Schedule your free consultation at www.sarahmoorelpc.com/contact.

VHC Health, in conjunction with the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, hosted its first panel series on Wellness in the Workforce, focusing on mental health and how employers can best serve their employees in this space.

During the panel discussion, VHC Health’s Dr. Cessar Scott noted that the rise in telehealth services has provided employees with more options for seeking mental health care while reducing the stress and time required to attend in-person appointments.

“Patients are receiving the same, detailed mental health services they can expect from an in-person visit. We don’t always need to be in the same room to ensure our patients are getting the care they need, and often we can see them faster than needing to schedule appointments well in advance. It’s a win-win for all,” said Scott.

The event included a keynote speech by Elizabeth Hughes, Senior Director of Insight Region, Community Foundation, and a panel of experts who discussed innovations and critical topics within the mental health field. The panel discussion was moderated by Ann Harbor, Director, Government Affairs Virginia for CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. Panelists included Megan Hodge, Human Resources Manager of Employee Well-Being, Mayo Clinic; Dr. Cessar Scott, Behavioral Health Physician, VHC Health; Bethany Demers, Mental Wellness Specialist, Fairfax County Public Schools; Sandra Shaklan LCSW-C: Innovation Lead, Cigna Health Care; and Dr. Joseph Tasosa, Chief of Psychiatry, Kaiser Permanente.

The Wellness in the Workforce panel series continues with a panel discussion on obesity’s impact on the workforce and how to address it.

Join the NAACP Arlington Branch, HOME of Virginia, and Equal Rights Center for the 2nd Annual Arlington Fair Housing Conference on April 29th to discuss the threats and opportunities to advancing fair housing policy across the state and within Arlington.

The half-day, in-person event will feature speakers from fair housing advocacy organizations and government agencies including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and focus on fair housing policy trends in Virginia and Arlington County. Synetic Theater Camps are a wildly fun, highly accessible choice for young people who love moving, playing games, and making memories. Registration is open now for Summer Camps (sessions June 20-August 25) and there are even a few spots left for Spring Break camp, April 3-7.

Located in National Landing, these performance-based camps are designed for students of all ages – no theater or performance experience required.

Led by professional teaching artists, campers learn acting, movement, and technical theater skills through the lens of Physical Theater. Physical Theater incorporates acting, movement, dance, mime, and acrobatics. If you’ve seen a Cirque du Soleil performance, you’ll find many similarities.

Most first-time campers are new to the performing arts, and teaching artists are well-versed in engaging students at all levels. Parents and campers report that one of the best parts of Synetic is the community, with many families returning year after year because they feel a strong sense of belonging.

Each camp session concludes with a fully staged performance of a original short play written especially for Synetic campers. The Spring Break Camp takes campers to the fictional “Camp Nevermore,” where nothing is what it seems, and the Summer Camp plays are “Arizona Bones,” a twisted take on the adventures of the intrepid archeologist; and “Neverland,” a re-imagining of Peter Pan’s story. High school students are offered a 3-week intensive, during which they will develop their own original, 30-minute production of “MacBeth.”
