A small start up by a local Arlington resident just launched a free app called WhensIt that gives busy parents in two clicks the Local School Calendars, SAT/ACT test deadlines, and College Application Deadlines with rankings. The resident was frustrated from years of hunting on the internet too long and too often for what he thought should be a couple clicks away. The app also gives residents a listing of all the concerts, sporting events, expos, conferences, and shows in one place. Local organizations can add to the event listing. The app is catching the attention of regional news outlets.
Check out the WhensIt App by downloading from the QR code.

Washington, DC, February 3, 2023-The rankings platform Clutch has named Dorst MediaWorks #1 among more than 12,000 “[Top Instagram Marketing Agencies](https://clutch.co/agencies/social- media-marketing/instagram)” nationwide in its updated rankings.
“This is a significant achievement,” says Creative Director, Steve Dorst, who credits the explosive rise of TikTok in shifting the video marketing landscape: “In the past few years, Instagram (and other platforms) have tweaked their algorithms to favor short videos. That plays to our strengths.”
Dorst founded the agency in Washington, D.C. in 2002 as primarily a video production company. Over time, it took on more digital marketing work. “Our clients are ambitious. They want to grow in brand recognition, engagement, and revenue. Many prefer to be best-in-class on Instagram, rather than spread their ad budgets thin across a half-dozen platforms.”
Clutch’s list of Top Instagram Marketing Agencies includes 12,818 companies across the country that manage Instagram accounts and ad campaigns for businesses. Many creative agencies take a multi-platform approach, but this list focuses on those with a special focus on Instagram.
Dorst MediaWorks’ roots are in telling visual stories for organizations that do good. Over the years, the team has traveled to more than 40 countries to tell stories for a range of humanitarian, development, and private-sector clients.

Have you noticed a striking sculpture at Monroe Street and Wilson Boulevard? It’s the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington’s newest installation, Make Your Mark, by Arlington artist, Adam Henry. This sculpture celebrates MoCA Arlington’s rebranding and brings the museum’s energy outdoors.
On February 11, come inside when the museum’s galleries reopen with two new exhibitions: Rebecca Rivas Rogers: Grey View and Crisis of Image.
Grey View, in the Wyatt Resident Artist Gallery, is an homage to “gray” and a snapshot of the artist’s process. Consisting of photographs, collage, and a site-specific installation, this show is an outgrowth of Rivas-Rogers’ visual investigations into places you see on your way to somewhere else.
On the main level, Crisis of Image features artists who seek equity in today’s saturated visual world by developing new methods related to the production of images.
Global Spotlight: Ukraine, opening February 18, presents video works by four Ukrainian artists responding to the war and its historical roots. In March, in the Jenkins Community Gallery, Arlington Spotlight: Local Area High Schools opens, featuring new artwork every two weeks by seniors from HB Woodlawn, Yorktown, Wakefield, and Washington-Liberty.
Visit Saturday, February 25 for the museum’s reception from 5pm-8pm! Explore the website to register for new programs, such as yoga in the galleries, art classes for kids and adults, and summer camp registration, which opens mid- February.

YULA’s ultimate frisbee spring season is now open for registration. We offer programs for middle and high schoolers — open to all players, whether they are new or have previous experience.
Middle School
In the Middle School league, mixed-gender teams practice once during the week and have games on Sunday afternoons. Spring league is a fun, safe, and positive environment. The season begins mid-March and wraps up with a tournament in early June. There are several options for practice days, so we can often work around schedule conflicts with other sports & activities.
High School
The High School program is organized by school of attendance and teams are classified by gender. New players will learn the basics in a supportive, welcoming environment. Experienced players will continue to develop their skills, and enjoy competition with other high school programs. The season concludes with a state level championship tournament in late May.
All players are guided by experienced coaches who emphasize sportsmanship and good spirit. Ultimate is a fun sport with great camaraderie! YULA does not want finances to limit anyone from participating. Our middle school program offers a “Pay What You Can” cost structure and our our high school program is offering a $50 discount to new players.
Visit our website to register and learn more. Sign up with a friend, but don’t delay, the season starts in March! http://www.yula-ulti.org
The Arlington-Aachen High School exchange is returning this summer and currently accepting applicants.
The sister-city partnership started in 1993 by the Arlington Sister Cities Association, which seeks to promote Arlington’s international profile through a variety of exchanges in education, commerce, culture and the arts. The exchange, scheduled June 17th to July 4th, includes a two-week homestay in Aachen plus three days in Berlin. Knowledge of the German language is not required for the trip.
Former participants have this to say:
_”The Aachen exchange was an eye-opening experience where I was fully immersed in the life of a German student. I loved biking through the countryside to Belgium, having gelato and picnics in the town square, and hanging out with my German host student’s friends. My first time out of the country, the Aachen exchange taught me to keep an open mind, because you never know what could be a life changing experience.” – Kelly M._
_”The best part of the exchange was getting to experience another culture first hand rather than learning about it in a textbook. I’m now attending Maastricht University, just 30 minutes from Aachen and remain in touch with several exchange participants.”_ – Kelso W.
Applicants must be high school students between 15 and 18 years old residing in Arlington, and demonstrate leadership, maturity, and an interest in history and foreign cultures. Participants will be invited to host an Aachen student for two weeks in October. Financial aid is available for qualified applicants.
