Need help dealing with anxiety, depression or stress?

If you’re struggling to cope with anxiety, depression or stress, our virtual psychotherapy services can help. We offer a confidential and convenient service that’s tailored to your needs.

In our practice, cognitive behavioral therapy (or CBT) is an important tool we use to provide effective relief for those facing anxiety and depression. We believe that cognitive change can be used to improve behaviors and emotions, thus allowing you to achieve mental wellness. By understanding the cognitive distortions that lead to negative thought patterns, we are able to create interventions tailored to each of our clients. This empowering approach can help you gain control of how your own thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors impact your experience. With CBT, our service provides an effective treatment that can bring long-term change and mental stability.

The Yorktown High School Wind Ensemble is proud to announce its selection to the Music For All National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis, IN. The ensemble was selected as an “Invited Band” based on previously submitted recordings. Students will participate in workshops with nationally-recognized clinicians and have the opportunity to meet with and hear other top-notch bands including the National Honor Band of America.

Joseph Witkowski, Director of Bands at Yorktown High School shared, “It is truly an honor and testament of their hard work that the student musicians of the Yorktown Wind Ensemble have earned an invitation to perform at this prestigious event. I am incredibly proud of these exceptional young people and am excited for them to share their artistry on a national stage.”

Students have been raising funds through their annual “Band Day” event, fundraising nights with locally-owned restaurants, as well as selling poinsettias during the holiday season. Despite a record-breaking “Band Day” tally the ensemble is still short of their goal.

Yorktown Band Boosters are working with the students on a Practice-A- Thon to continue to raise funds. Well-wishers can sponsor a student or a section for practice blocks completed.

In addition, the booster organization has set up a GoFundMe page ( https://www.gofundme.com/f/get-yhs-to-the-national- festival) to collect donations from community members who would like to assist.

Corporate sponsorships also are invited. For information on corporate sponsorships, e-mail[email protected].

The Dream Project Scholarship is for immigrant high school and college students in Virginia – we award $3,000 in renewable college scholarships annually to 100 high-achieving students whose immigration status creates barriers to higher education. We are committed to serving Virginia students who have demonstrated perseverance in the face of adversity. 98,000 students with undocumented status graduate from public schools in the US each year, and less than 10% of them go on to earn a college degree. The Dream Project works to bridge that gap- through financial support, leadership, and a community built by and for immigrant families. 84% of our scholarship recipients cite the Dream Project as a critical factor in their success in earning a college degree. Applications close on February 1, and recipients will be notified by April 1.

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Graduated or will graduate from a Virginia high school
  • Born outside the United States and whose immigration status creates barriers to success in college (undocumented, DACA, TPS, or asylum applicant)
  • Plans to enroll full-time in an accredited two- or four-year university in the United States

About the Dream Project

The Dream Project empowers students whose immigration status creates barriers to higher education. From high school through college graduation and into professional life, students are supported through a strong network of mentoring, scholarships, and family engagement. The Virginia nonprofit has created an intentionally inclusive community where students are encouraged to use education to pursue their dreams and achieve their fullest potential.
