Moms Demand Action will present an overview of federal and state gun law legislation. They will also discuss what Moms Demand Action Arlington is doing in our community. Kaydee Myers and Sharon Bradley will be speaking. (Criminal Justice)

VFW Post 3150 will share information about its programs and resources and provide the VFW’s history. They welcome all Veterans, Active Duty, Reservists, Military Dependents, and civilian members of our community. The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard, and reserve forces. The Arlington Philharmonic, in its 17th season, is a vibrant community based professional symphony orchestra that plays the best of classical music in Arlington. From well-loved classics to brand new compositions, the symphony performs a variety of repertoire. Chamber music, choral works, symphonic music and concertos with dazzling local soloists engage our enthusiastic audiences.

The mission of the Arlington Philharmonic is to make classical music accessible to every Arlington resident, to promote the value of classical music in our civic life, and to build strong, creative partnerships with schools, local government, businesses and other organizations.

The Philharmonic is unique among regional professional orchestras because almost all of our performances are free. This means that quality classical music is available to everyone in our community.

We also sponsor a range of education and outreach initiatives, including programs for students in the Arlington Public Schools and for adults over 55. We also sponsor the Crescendo Chamber Music Program for middle and high school strings students.

In addition to live concerts, we make our performances available digitally in order to expand access. We have had robust audiences for our online events which have the added benefit of question and answer sessions with composers and our conductor and artistic director.

and the Leadership Center for Excellence are hosting a special presentation of Flip the Script: The Day Nothing Happened on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 3 p.m._ _

The family-friendly performance explores the 1959 desegregation of Arlington’s Stratford Junior High School. In February of that year, four African-American students bravely walked through its doors, making Stratford the first public secondary school in Virginia to be desegregated following the landmark _Brown v. Board of Education _Supreme Court ruling.

This special performance and discussion will be held at Thomas Jefferson Community Theatre (125 S. Old Glebe Rd. Arlington, VA 22204).

“Encore’s Flip the Script program is a unique opportunity for students to discover community history and interpret it through the lens of theatre,” says Sara Duke, Executive Director of Encore Stage & Studio.

Arlington Greens support independent candidate Audrey Clement for Arlington County board because she will stand up to   developers, bring an independent voice to the county board, and oppose middle missing up-zoning leading to environmental damage in Arlington.

Arlington Greens support the Metro and streets bond for $53 million on the November ballot, and the $177 million bond to upgrade the sewage treatment plant and drinking water system.   Greens oppose the $165 million school bond for an unneeded new high school; the $53 million bond for new or remodeled courthouse buildings; the $22 million bond for unneeded recreation facilities; and the storm water $40 million bond for gray infrastructure that does not promote green infrastructure like trees and keeping green permeable surfaces.
