Are you interested in joining a community where you’ll continue to enjoy your current lifestyle with the added advantages of retirement community living — such as a gym or pool onsite, meal plan options, and when you need extra support as you age, it would be available? Join us via Zoom on Wednesday, March 10 from 2:30-4 p.m. to learn about different models of life plan (continuing care) retirement communities, where care is provided throughout the continuum of your life.

We will be joined by a panel of representatives from three CARF-accredited facilities, The Hermitage in Alexandria, Westminster-Canterbury of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester and Williamsburg Landing in Williamsburg, who will share information and answer your questions about these communities and how they work.

Learn the art of traditional Arabic calligraphy as well as the letters of the language. Moving from letter to letter using a traditional reed pen, students will learn the sounds and shapes along the way. Every class will begin with a short period of silence and meditation. Calligraphy demands a very particular form of engagement. The aim is to learn and master the art of calligraphy, and through it, the art of healing.

Teacher Aiyah Sibay has held several calligraphy workshops in Greece and Jordan, where she worked closely with refugees of all ages in small and large sessions. This in-studio class is limited to 4 students. AH7 is committed to safety, and during COVID-19 we have strict procedures and social distancing. Masks are required. See more info on our website.

Cody Chance and Dick Nathan of Long & Foster are hosting an online workshop on the topic of “down-sizing” Wednesday, March 3 from 5-6:30 p.m. Every great endeavor begins with a great plan. This workshop will give you the tools to design your plan. We have created a workbook with an extensive planning guide to enable you to design a personalized written plan for your move, and more than twenty pages of resources specific to Northern Virginia to help you along the way!

These resources will help you to find the best people to assist you in your move, and help you get the belongings that won’t move with you into the hands of people who will value them. The workshop format is a “guided group discussion” of the workbook, with a chance for the participants to ask their own questions, and special guest presenter Alexandra Fry of Orchestrated Moves will be joining us to share her many years of expertise in organization and moving. We will be discussing four major themes:

Synetic Theater, National Landing’s edgy physical theater company, has launched a new streaming service allowing viewers to stream theatrical stage productions and original films right to their home devices.

After moving productions online over the past year, Synetic co-founders Paata and Irina Tsikurishvili seized the opportunity to realize their long-held vision of producing films in addition to live theater. The Tsikurishvilis and many of the Synetic Company Members have trained in film programs around the world, worked across disciplines and have even incorporated cinematic elements into live shows, leaving the company uniquely positioned to share their innovative work with a wider audience through the development of a streaming app and new film production arm, Synetic Motion Pictures.

Two weeks ago, Virginia made campaign finance reports public for state level candidates. After review, it shows that over 500 individuals have given under $100 dollars to our campaign! Over half of what we’ve raised has come from Virginia, with most of it coming from right here in Arlington.

I’m humbled by the faith folks here have shown in me and what we are fighting for: ambitious cannabis policy reform, legal representation for renters, progressive tax reform, expanded ability of workers to collectively bargain and much more. Getting into this race, I knew I was never going be the favorite to win the battle for the most $1000 donations, but the faith you have shown in me shows that not only is this candidate a hungry underdog, but that my supporters and excellent campaign team are hungry and scrappy too. That’s why we are going to win.
