DJ Sam Snow spins an “Arcology” show at IOTA. Vinyl records will be on tap all night, and the show is free to see.

Thursday

Crystal Couture Show and Sale*
Crystal City Shops (1750 Crystal Drive)
Time: 6:00-10:00 p.m. (also from 6:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday)

The annual fashion event is back for its fifth year. VIP tickets cost $50 and allow VIPs to shop on Thursday before sales begin on Friday, as well as enjoy bottomless drinks.

Va. Tech Football Recruiting Showcase*
Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike)
Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m.

VT football recruiting coordinator Bryan Stinespring breaks down the Hokies’ 2015 recruiting class. All Hokie alumni and fans are invited. Tickets are $15 at the door and proceeds go to the VT Athletic Fund.

Friday

Rediscovering the String Trio*
St. George’s Episcopal Church (925 N. Oakland Street)
Time: 7:30-9:00 p.m.

A string trio plays baroque-era instruments and pieces by Vivaldi, J.C. Bach, Haydn and others. Tickets are $25, $10 for students, available at the door.

Manual Cinema presents Lula del Rey
Artisphere (1101 Wilson Blvd)
Time: 8:00-10:00 p.m.

Using overhead projectors, paper puppets, actors in silhouette and a live band, Chicago troupe Manual Cinema “transforms the experience of attending the cinema.” Tickets are $20.

Saturday

Ice Cream for Breakfast
Nicecream Factory (2831 Clarendon Blvd)
Time: 9:30-11:00 a.m.

The shop that specializes in making their own ice cream instantly is hosting an ice cream breakfast for nonprofit Let’s Help Kids. Selling maple bacon and french toast flavored ice cream, 75 percent of proceeds will go to the charity.

The Energy Journey Game

The Arlington Initiative to Rethink Energy hosts a life-sized, interactive board game designed to jumpstart creative thinking about energy solutions.

Sunday

Pre-Super Bowl Party*
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church (400 Lorcom Lane)
Time: 4:30-6:00 p.m.

Arlington Neighborhood Villages hosts a “BYO party” for residents of Cherrydale, Donaldson Run, Old Dominion and Waverly Hills. ANV hopes to start its third local village in the county.

Super Bowl Party
Mister Days Sports Rock Cafe (3100 Clarendon Blvd)
Time: 3:00 p.m.

An all-you-can-eat tailgate menu until kickoff, door prizes and Seattle- and New England-themed menu highlight Mister Days’ party. Tickets are $25.

Sen. Tim Kaine’s Staff at Library

A member of Sen. Tim Kaine’s staff will be on hand to answer constituent questions, concerns and give assistance. The session is free and open to the public.

Encouraging Young Women to be Active in Politics
Patrick Henry Elementary School library (701 S. Highland Street)
Time: 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Susan Welford of the Running Start organization speaks about why more young women don’t seek public office, and the ways society can help more women become civically active sooner. The event is free.

Thursday

Resolve to Run for Arlington Thrive*
Pete’s New Haven Apizza (3017 Clarendon Blvd)
Time: 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Arlington Thrive hosts this training regimen to get runners in shape to run a 5K, 10-mile or half-marathon race. This happy hour is free, with drink specials, to help those interested get questions answered.

Diamonds and Dessert*

Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Junior League of Washington hosts a night of “sips, sweets and sparkles.” A $25 ticket buys nibbles and a ticket into a diamond drawing.

Saturday

Rosebud Video and Film Festival

Time: 12:30-5:30 p.m.

This film festival pulls films only from D.C., Virginia and Maryland filmmakers, and gives cash prizes. Tickets are $10.

Sunday

Strategy Gaming at the Library
Shirlington Branch Library (4200 Campbell Avenue)
Time: 6:00-9:00 p.m.

A free evening of strategy-based board games like Settlers of Catan, Risk and Dominion. The night is free and knowledge of strategy games is not required.

“Hailed by critics as one of the best Cajun music acts in history,” Steve Riley and his three-time Grammy-nominated band grace the Artisphere stage. Tickets are $15.

Art Show: The Wonder of Winter

“Local artists explore different facets of beauty in the winter season-winter light, winter activities, and special effects created by cold weather.” The show runs until Jan. 31.

Sunday

Chewy the Camel

The camel makes its annual visit to the Church of the Covenant. Join the congregation in “songs of Joy welcoming the three kings.” Hot cider and cookies also provided.

Live Music: Arlington Philharmonic

Time: 3:00-5:00 p.m.

The Arlington Phil’s first concert of the year features Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony and oloist Sara Daneshpour performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Tickets are free, but donation is encouraged.

The two-level ballroom is hosting its annual New Year’s Bash. Tickets cover a buffet and four drink tickets, and will increase in price before the holiday arrives.

Watch incoming Arlington County Board Chair Mary Hynes give her agenda-setting address, and stay for a reception with the Board and government officials.

Friday

Live Comedy: Carlos Mencia

For $30, at one of six shows he will play from Thursday to Saturday patrons can see the standup and former star of Comedy Central’s “Mind of Mencia.”

It’s a Wonderful Night

The Drafthouse hosts two nights of its Christmas celebration, screening “It’s a Wonderful Life” for $6.50, with half of proceeds going to the Patrick Henry ES PTA. Free movie tickets to those in Christmas costumes.

Live Theater: Beauty and the Beast

Synetic’s unique motion-based performances are staying in town for the holidays, with four shows of Disney classic Beauty and the Beast the weekend between Christmas and New Year’s. Tickets start at $20.

Live Music: Lauren Calve Band

D.C.-based singer-songwriter Lauren Calve and her band perform, with opening acts the Jenny Leigh Band and the Lara Supan Band. Tickets are $12 at the door.

Saturday

Harry Potter film series showing

Time: 2:00 p.m.

The Shirlington library will show all eight Harry Potter movies in 10 days, starting with “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” on Saturday. All movie times at the event page.

Live Music: Garden State Radio

Time: 9:30 p.m.

Garden State Radio is a band that prides itself on a full, interactive experience, with lasers throughout the audience, an HD screen showing fans during the concert and more. $5 cover.
