That buzz you are hearing is the energy and excitement coming from historic Potomac Yards. The brand new apartment community, Notch 8, which is named after the highest gear a diesel-electric locomotive can hit, continues to generate steam.

The residents are, even as we speak, enjoying the full array of amenities and features offered at Notch 8.

This summer, residents are benefiting from free boot camp classes with the on-site K!CK Fitness personal trainer on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

When the workout is over they can head over to the on-site Starbucks for an iced caffeine booster or to the Giant grocery store for fresh sustenance. Whatever they need is all right there… right in the building.

Plus, the over-the-top building amenities include, among other things, an extensive courtyard with swimming pool, grilling stations, hammocks, outdoor billiards and fire pit; a game room with Xbox One and PS4; a lounge with an 80-inch flat screen and entertainment kitchen; and a state-of-the-art fitness center, if they need even more of a workout after the boot camps, that is.

A few of the appointments featured inside these modern-industrial apartments are stainless steel appliances, contemporary plank flooring, pantry, kitchen island, oversized windows streaming in natural light, and a hi-tech Nest learning thermostat.

How can you get in on this action? And how can you get up to two-and-a-half months rent for free? And how can you become eligible for a $500 Giant gift card for stocking the fridge and pantry in your new apartment?

Just visit and ask.

Notch 8 is located at 2900 Main Line Blvd in Alexandria. Learn more about these brand new upscale apartments and the amazing incentives on Notch 8’s website or call 866-811-1457.

Notch 8 is convenient to Route 1 and I-395, offering direct access to the District. The underground garage has EV charging stations and a Zipcar right next door.

Plus, there is a dedicated Metroway bus running every six minutes during rush hour to both the Crystal City and Braddock Road Metro stations on the Blue and Yellow lines.

A realtor is not a salesperson. They’re a matchmaker. They introduce people to homes, until they fall in love with one. Then they’re a wedding planner. ~ Unknown Author

Ann Wilson and the Ann Wilson Homes Team are honored to be named a “Best Residential Real Estate Agent” and “Best Real Estate Producer” in the D.C. region by Washingtonian Magazine. Just 101 realtors were selected for the 2016 Best Agents List, which recognizes overall customer satisfaction and service excellence.

The Top Producers List is based on 2015 sales volume and recognizes individuals, teams and groups who meet the set level of sales excellence. This is the Ann Wilson Team’s second year in a row on both lists. She and her team are part of Keller William’s Arlington office.

“I am so proud of our amazing team, who were instrumental in earning this great honor,” Ann Wilson said. “We are also lucky to work with the best clients imaginable – it’s a joy and a privilege, and being recognized for our work is just a double bonus,” Wilson adds.

The secret to the team’s success is its commitment to the Arlington community, where Wilson and her team members have lived for more than 20 years.

“We raised our kids here, sent them to the County schools, served on PTA’s, volunteered with sports teams and other community groups. We know first-hand which homes are located near the Metro, what all of the schools are like, where the dog parks are, and where to find the best cup of coffee. And we can tell you all the reasons why you should live in Northern Virginia!

The Ann Wilson Team provides honest advice and creative solutions, offering a wide range of services including complimentary home staging for all sellers. The team uses state-of-the-art technology that exposes sellers’ homes to millions of potential buyers.

“We stay on top of the Arlington and Northern Virginia housing market,” Wilson points out. “We have proven marketing strategies that get homes sold quickly and make transactions seamless.”

“We believe there is a perfect home for every buyer and a great contract waiting for every seller,” Wilson adds. “Seeing our clients’ excitement when the offer is accepted on their perfect house gives us sheer joy. A match made in heaven: that’s what it’s all about for us.”

It is a homeowner’s nightmare: You come down the stairs in the morning to start the day with a cup of coffee only to step into a puddle of water on the kitchen floor. A puddle? In fact, it is pooling from a leak under the sink, and it is spreading.

Good morning! Now what?

“When they call us, we talk them through everything they need to do to stop the problem,” says Yael Goldshmid of Flood Damage Pro. “We give them instructions over the phone on how to turn off the main and to remove any electrical elements from the area.

“Then we promise to send a crew within 60 minutes of their call.” And that call will be answered 24/7.

Flood Damage Pro has been serving the flood emergency needs of commercial facilities and residential dwellings in Arlington for over 10 years, and by now their IICRC certified technicians have seen it all: Flooded basements, flooded kitchens, flooded bathrooms, flooded offices and more.

A water and fire damage specialist is crucial in early moments of water/fire-borne disasters as they are equipped with the technology and the knowledge to stop, repair and then begin the recovery process as fast as possible. This is important because of a secondary consequence of water damage: Mold.

“If water damage is not addressed in time, mold develops,” warns Goldshmid. “Sometimes we come to a house and the owners tells us there is a smell they can’t get rid of where the water damage was. We check and it’s mold. You can’t always see it, but it’s there.”

Luckily, Flood Damage Pro also does mold remediation to eliminate the problem.

Goldshmid says Flood Damage Pro can repair any cause of flooding inside or outside a property, “Even a leaky foundation. We can fix everything except the roof.” Roofing problems require a roofing specialist.

The team at Flood Damage Pro is licensed to restore drywall, hardwood floors, carpets and more. They don’t consider the job complete until all affected elements are restored to as good as new.

Flood Damage Pro also performs fire and smoke damage restoration. When disaster strikes, call 866-869-4167 for immediate assistance. The preceding post was sponsored by Flood Damage Pro and written by Buzz McClain.

After the winter and spring we “enjoyed” in Arlington, chances are your carpet, rugs, upholstery and wood floors took a weather beating.

If you pay attention and look closely, you will notice the colors are muted, the fabrics are stained but, worst of all, there are things deep in the fibers you can’t see but are possible menaces to your health and your family’s health.

Luckily USA Clean Master is around the corner, and has been for more than 10 years. One phone call or email to their Crystal Drive office summons the arrival of a team of licensed and certified technicians who bring the latest in deep-cleaning technology to your door.

“We are very well known in Arlington because we have been involved in the community there for so long,” says USA Clean Master commercial division manager Yael Goldshmid.

Goldshmid says just vacuuming carpets and rugs doesn’t do the job. USA Clean Master will use high-temperature steam to “basically kill everything” and loosen the dried mud and hidden grime; the steaming is followed up with high-pressure vacuuming, the likes of which your top-of-the-line vacuum cleaner can’t come close to matching. Then they dry the carpet before departing.

For high traffic areas, Goldshmid says steam or deep cleaning should be done every six months, but otherwise once a year usually suffices for the typical Arlington household.

As for those wood floors, USA Clean Master will perform a restoration process to bring the wood back to its natural gloss.

High pressure tile and grout cleaning are also on the menu of services available from USA Clean Master, as well as water extraction, air duct cleaning, marble floor polishing, pick up and delivery of area rugs and upholstery refreshing and stain removal.

Goldshmid says calling 202-558-2102 for an estimate is the easiest and fastest way to summon USA Clean Master, but for an idea of what it might cost to have your home restored to pre-winter condition, use the estimating calculator on the USA Clean Master website.
