The Office of Campus and Residential Services (OCRS) at Marymount University is welcoming new students as they move into residence halls on campus during 2019 Move-In Day on Wednesday.
An estimated 230 first-year students are arriving on this day, and checking in from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Butler Hall, Ostapenko Hall and Rowley Hall on Marymount’s main campus. Orientation check-in is scheduled from 12:30 to 5 p.m., with a Welcome Dinner to follow from 5 to 7 p.m. in front of The Lodge near the university’s main entrance from North Glebe Road.
About 120 Marymount student leaders and athletes are teaming up with OCRS staff to assist new students and parents during the move-in process. The volunteers are helping direct traffic on campus, welcoming new students and their parents, checking them in to orientation and assisting them as they move into their new residence halls.
Nearly 290 new students overall have already moved in or will be moving in throughout the week, leading up to the beginning of the Fall 2019 semester on Monday, Aug. 26. Returning Marymount students will be moving back to campus on Saturday, Aug. 24, and Sunday, Aug. 25.
Marymount’s Class of 2023 has a projected total of 427 students. The group has demonstrated a commitment to academic success prior to their enrollment, with an average high school GPA of 3.3. It is also the most geographically diverse Marymount class in the past five years, consisting of students from 30 states and 31 countries.
Undergraduate New Student Orientation is scheduled from Wednesday to Saturday, Aug. 24. New students develop a meaningful connection with the campus community, identify campus services and resources, learn about the values and mission of Marymount and demonstrate their commitment to service, inclusion and diversity. An International Student Session is also being held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday to address their own unique needs at Marymount, and to allow them to meet other international and American students before the semester begins.
