Honor exceptional members of Arlington’s hospitality industry. The event recognizes front-line workers in the hospitality industry, including restaurants, tourist attractions and hotels.

Carlos Mencia Live
Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike)
Time: Thursday 7:45 p.m.; Friday 7:30 and 10 p.m.; Saturday 7 and 10 p.m.

Entertainer and comic Carlos Mencia goes back to his comedic roots, performing at a number of comedy stores throughout the country and sharing his newest material with smaller audiences.

Yorktown High School Theatre’s Pippin*
Yorktown High School Auditorium (5200 Yorktown Blvd.)
Time: Thursday 7 p.m.; Friday 7 p.m.; Saturday 2 and 7 p.m.

Yorktown High School presents a spectacular show that tells the story of young prince Pippin, who searches for the secret to true happiness and fulfillment – on the battlefield, in relationships and among the intrigues of political power.

Washington-Lee International Night
Washington-Lee High School (1301 N. Stafford Street)
Time: 6:30-10 p.m.

Washington-Lee High School’s International Club will be hosting its second annual International Night. There will be performances from numerous cultures, followed by free food, music and a fashion show in which all guests can participate.

Saturday

Handmade Arlington 2017 *
Swanson Middle School (5800 Washington Blvd.)
Time: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

A record number of artisans debut a range of arts and crafts including photography; pottery; jewelry; stationary; home accessories and cleaning products; bags, purses, scarves and other works made from fabrics.

Nova Fencing Club Open House *
Nova Fencing Club (3431 Carlin Springs Road, Suite E)
Time: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

All ages can try the sport of fencing. Take free mini-classes, get discounts for future lessons and more. The event will be split into two separate floors, with classes including a general introduction to fencing, epee, saber and foil classes.

Sunday

Crescendo Concert *
The Jefferson (900 N. Taylor Street)
Time: 3-4:30 p.m.

A concert as a part of the Arlington Philharmonic’s “Music in Your Home” initiative. Trios and quartets will perform Mendelssohn and Beethoven, followed by the entire ensemble playing several popular John Williams pieces.

2017 Sharon McGowan Breast Health Fund Benefit *
Mercedes-Benz Arlington (585 N. Glebe Road)
Time: 5-8 p.m.

A fundraising event that includes live music, local food and drink, unique silent auction items from local businesses and more. All money raised supports the fund’s work to prevent breast cancer among uninsured men and women.

First Home Buyer Seminar *

Help Design The New Lubber Run Community Center

The process to design the new Lubber Run Community Center began in February, with nearly 200 children, adults and seniors. See how the design has evolved, and help the project move forward. Childcare offered during Saturday’s work session.

Ways To Support Your Anxious Child

This free lecture will feature an expert speaker who will address the modern day parenting challenge of supporting an anxious child. The expert is Christina Tripodi Mitchell, founder and clinical director of The Child & Family Practice in D.C.

Join the partners of Arlington’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness for this annual informational session on homelessness in the community.

25th Annual Tossed and Found Rummage Sale *
Crystal City (2200 Crystal Drive, 6th Floor)
Time: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Shop thousands of quality pre-owned housewares, fashions, books, sporting goods, electronics and furniture. Free garage parking is available at the Crystal City Shops. Cash or check only will be accepted for merchandise purchases.

8th Annual Move Me Festival *
Kenmore Middle School (200 S. Carlin Springs Road)
Time: 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

A free family-friendly celebration of arts and culture. This festival promotes healthy lifestyles through movement and a love for dance. More than 20 artists and dance groups will perform to a culturally diverse audience.

National Chamber Ensemble – The Four Seasons of Vivaldi and Piazzolla *
Rosslyn Spectrum Theatre (1611 N. Kent Street)

The National Chamber Ensemble presents The Four Seasons of Vivaldi and Piazzolla. The evening will include readings by County Board Chairman Jay Fisette.

Dr. Seuss Birthday Party

Time: 2:30-4 p.m.

A gathering featuring Dr. Seuss stories, crafts and games, along with ice cream and cake to say happy birthday to the beloved children’s author. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by a parent.

Wine Dinner: Emilia-Romagna *

Time: 6-9 p.m.

With wine provided by Tre Monti, enjoy pairings with food from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, including Vigna Rocca, Thea Bianco, Thea Rosso and Vitalba. Admission costs $75 per person, and includes all five course of food and wine.

Evil Cyborg Sea Monsters

Cartoonist Mike Capozzola presents a “live multimedia nerd comedy” show about superheroes, action movies, sci-fi, monsters and secret agents. The show is “PG-14,” runs about an hour and tickets are on sale for $10.

Community International Potluck Dinner
Oakridge Elementary (1414 24th St. S)
Time: 6:30-9 p.m.

The elementary school is set to host a celebration of international culture and food. The planned event includes dishes, posters and flags that represent different countries and cultures from across the globe. The dinner also will have a fashion show and a flag procession.

Paul Zerdin at Arlington Drafthouse
Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike)
Time: 7:45 p.m.

Ventriloquist and “Americas Got Talent” winner Paul Zerdin is slated to perform on the Drafthouse stage. In addition to Thursday’s show, Zerdin will perform twice per night on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25.

Friday

FORUM Feast: Mardi Gras *
FORUM Arlington (3304 Washington Blvd.)
Time: 7:30-11 p.m.

FORUM will host its annual Mardi Gras event with music, food, and drinks. The party includes performances from award-winning Capital Focus Jazz Band and a happy hour with beer and wine specials. Food will also be available for purchase.

Saturday

Feel the Heritage Festival *
Drew Community Center (3500 23rd Street South)
Time: 1-6 p.m.

Attendees will be able to experience Arlington’s African-American roots through food, art, and entertainment. The event will also have free activities for kids and a “Hall of History” with photos and artifacts from Arlington churches and organizations.

Sunday

Christian/Muslim Dialogue *
Founders Hall, George Mason University (3351 Fairfax Drive)
Time: 1-2 p.m.

Emmanuel Presbyterian Church is set to host a conversation between two friends, a local reverend and a local sheikh, “to explore what it means to be children of Abraham.” The event will include a respectful conversation of the similarities and differences between Christianity and Islam.

Valentine’s Day Dinner *

The Shirlington Italian eatery is holding a special dinner for the ubiquitous holiday of love, romance and gifts. The dinner costs $69 per person, and each couple gets a four-course meal and a rose.

Valentine’s Date Night *
Twisted Vines Bistro and Bottleshop (2803 Columbia Pike)
Time: 4-11 p.m.

This Valentine’s Day dinner includes a sparkling wine toast, cheese board, one small plate, two entrees and a dessert to share for $75, tax and gratuity included. The restaurant also will  have a special Valentines Day wine flight and other drink specials.

Digital Destiny: Learning in Arlington *

Join Arlington County officials and industry experts as they engage in a conversation with the community about the impact of the digital revolution and what it will mean for mobility and the future of education in Arlington.

Thursday

Business After Business

Time: 5-7 p.m.

Arlington residents are invited to this networking event to meet and greet with their fellow working professionals. Soft drinks, beer, wine and food are all included in the event’s registration fee of $25-35.

Friday

Marina Franklin at Arlington Drafthouse
Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike)
Time: 10 p.m.

Comedian and “Chapelle’s Show” actress Marina Franklin is slated to tell jokes on the Drafthouse stage. In addition to Friday’s show, Franklin will perform again on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10 p.m.

Save a Dog, Ride a Bull *
Crystal City Sports Pub (529 23rd Street S)
Time: 6-9 p.m.

Patrons can get drink specials on beer and cider by buying a $5 wristband. All proceeds from the event’s cover charge will go toward Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Additionally, Crystal City Sports Pub is donating 10 percent of its Heineken sales to Homeward Trails, and Heineken itself is donating $2 per drink sold up to $1,000.

Yorktown Theatre’s The Lottery
Yorktown High School Auditorium (5200 Yorktown Blvd)
Time: 7-8:30 p.m.

The Lottery is a one-act play by Brainerd Duffield that was adapted from the original short story by Shirley Jackson. The play tells story of a small town that holds a lottery every year in June to insure a plentiful harvest for the following year. The performance is free and open to the public.

Arty Party

Time: 10 a.m.-noon

Kids can enjoy creating their own artistic masterpieces with a variety of art materials during this free event from Northern Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children (NVAEYC) and Arlington Library.

Consequences of School Redistricting *

The session will cover future demographic projections and discuss school boundaries. “Demographic projections show many more students will be attending Arlington schools in the near future which will require a discussion of school boundaries,” event organizers said. “Boundary changes can be very personal and affect the entire community. ”

Thursday

Sip & Sample Wine Tasting *
Bistro 360 (1800 Wilson Blvd)
Time: 6-8 p.m.

Bistro 360 is scheduled to host an evening of fine wines paired with small plates and wine raffles. The event costs $60 per person, with proceeds going directly to Bowen McCauley Dance, an Arlington dance company known for its community outreach.

150 Years of Worship *
Marymount University (2807 N Glebe Road)
Time: 7-9 p.m.

This event will celebrate the 1866 establishment of three area churches: Mount Zion Baptist Church, Callaway United Methodist Church and Lomax AME. Additionally, church members will discuss “their shared and unique experiences and the impact on the county” during a panel discussion.

Teen Annual Broken Hearts Party
Arlington Central Library (1015 N Quincy St.)
Time: 3-4:30 p.m.

Middle and high school students will be able to celebrate the most romantic holiday of the year without having to worry about finding a sweetheart. The Valentine’s Day event is scheduled to include cookie decorating, quizzes, book rating and trivia.

Friday

The Lion in Winter at The Arlington Players *
Thomas Jefferson Community Theatre (125 S Old Glebe Road)
Time: 8-10 p.m.

“The Lion in Winter” is a tale that waves family rivalry, adultery, and shifting alliances into one dramatic comedy. The play centers around the conflicts of a royal family as they fight over control of the kingdom during the Christmas of 1183.

Saturday

National Chamber Ensemble – Vive la France *
Rosslyn Spectrum Theatre (1611 N. Kent Street)
Time: 7:30-9:30 p.m.

The National Chamber Ensemble is set to play a romantic concert with music from French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. A reception is scheduled to follow the performance, which organizers said is “the perfect occasion to bring your Valentine.”

Regional Jazz Festival 2017
Yorktown High School (5200 Yorktown Blvd)
Time: 2:15-8 p.m.

The free jazz concert will feature performances by regional high school jazz bands and a three-song set by the U.S. Airmen of Note Jazz Ensemble. This year’s theme is “Essentially Ellington,” meaning performers will feature the legendary jazz music of Duke Ellington.

Giant Used Book Fair *
St. Ann Church Parish Hall (5300 10th Street North)
Time: 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

St. Ann Church and School is scheduled to hold its 6th annual Giant Used Book Fair with books for “every age and taste at amazing prices.” Shoppers can browse all kinds of books, from fiction and politics to DIY and children’s tomes. The event also will have a Valentine’s Day themed bake sale and free coffee, admission and parking.

Rock Spring Recital Series featuring IBIS Chamber Music Society *
Rock Spring Congregational UCC (5010 Little Falls Road)
Time: 3-4:15 p.m.

This concert includes music by Ravel, including IBIS’s original arrangement of the Mother Goose Suite and the Introduction and Allegro, the Jeux D’Enfants by Bizet, a work by composer Marjan Mozetich and other selections.

Comedy and The Princess Bride Movie Night
Arlington Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike)
Time: Multiple times

The cinema and comedy venue will show attendees the meaning of “wuv, tru wuv,” during four screenings of cult classic film “The Princess Bride.” The screenings, which run Sunday, Feb. 12 and Tuesday, Feb. 14, will feature live comedy before the movie.
