The 5th annual fashion show returns to Artisphere with a “President of the United States” theme. The show features designers incorporating building materials into haute couture outfits. Tickets are $160.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

In celebration of the novelty holiday, Heavy Seas is offering $1 off its “Arrrrrlington Burger,” pirate “swag” and raffle tickets for a Baltimore brewery bus tour. At 6:00 p.m., a cask of a Loose Cannon variety will be tapped.

ACFD Chief James Schwartz gives the history of the fire department, including its role in the 9/11 terror attack on the Pentagon, the rescue efforts of which were led by Schwartz. The program is free.

Church Block Party

The Clarendon UMC hosts a block party. Food is $5, but you can also music, games, demonstrations, nfo booths, crafts, a moon bounce, Zumba, make some jewelry, learn flower arranging and hear a mini organ concert.

Vintage Crystal: Sip and Salsa*

The region’s largest, inside-the-Beltway outdoor wine festival. Wines from Argentina and the Iberian Peninsula are featured for tastings, which, along with food, cost $20.

Shirlington’s library kicks off its six-week James Bond film festival — with a movie from every Bond — with Sean Connery and the classic “From Russia With Love.” The event is free.

Rally for Climate and Democracy

Time: noon-1:00 p.m.

Environmental groups, including the Sierra Club, host a protest of the American Legislative Exchange Council, calling on Dominion Power to “sever its ties” with ALEC. RSVP online here.

RedRocks in Penrose Square hosts a tap takeover for Alexandria-based Port City Brewing, which is hosting a launch party for its fall seasonal, Oktoberfest. Parking is free with validation.

Arlington Historical Society presents a new exhibit, “Arlington’s Brewery and Cherry Smash,” detailing the history of Arlington Brewery, which became a soda factory in Rosslyn in the early 20th century.

Arlington County Parks and Recreation holds a class, for all fitness levels, aimed at working out abdominals, thighs and rear end muscles. Class fees are $5 for Parks and Rec members.

Gripped Films is hosting a fundraiser for Autism Speaks with a viewing party for Stage 10 of the Tour de France. The event is free but a $5 donation is recommended.

The weekly food truck rally comes back to Clarendon Thursday evening, featuring several local favorite food trucks that serve savory meal, and at least one dessert truck.

1980s cover band The Reflex once again graces the Clarendon Grill stage. Music starts after 10:00 p.m., and cover is $5.

Drop Electric, a band “comparable to Sigur Ros and Explosions in the sky” performs an act “created specifically” for the Dome Theatre. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online.
