Pig-and-Oyster Roast for Charity

Rocklands hosts a benefit for Doorways for Women and Families. Tickets are $35, 100 percent of the proceeds go to doorways, and tickets are good for oysters, pulled pork and beer.

Dover, Del.-based “drum and turntable remix show” Engine #9 plays for the dancers at Clarendon Grill. Cover charge is typically $5.

Little Falls Presbyterian is hosting residents looking to shred their documents for free, and soliciting food and cash donations to the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

Four Arlington delegates and three state senators will attend Leadership Arlington’s annual breakfast after the General Assembly. Tickets are $55 and you can register online.

Concert: Songs for a Dream*

Two D.C.-area youth choirs perform in a concert whose proceeds will go fully toward scholarships for Dream Scholars. Tickets are $30 online or $35 at the door.

Amnesty International is hosting its third Run4Rights 5K race this Sunday. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on race day, or online for $35.

IBIS Chamber Music continues its season-long examination of American music with a piano trio by Charles Ives and another by Johannes Brahms. Joseph Scheer, violin, Sean Neidlinger cello, and Edward Newman perform.

The library’s monthly program continues this month, allowing kids in elementary school to read to therapy dogs for an hour. The event is free.

Antiquarian Book Fair*

The 39th annual Washington Antiquarian Book Fair, going on Friday and Saturday, is a chance to purchase rare books, manuscripts and other collectibles. Two-day tickets are $14, Saturday tickets are $8.

The band voted the Chesapeake area’s best wedding band takes the stage again at Clarendon Grill. Cover charge is typically $5.

For $5, children and their parents can enjoy the park’s “special presentation on animal love.” It’s mating season for many of the native species, and kids can meet some of the critters “up close.”

A new exhibit at Gallery Underground, called “Visions of Future” debuts with a reception on Friday. The event is free, and works by promising artists will be on display Feb. 3-28.

South African Gala*

The South African embassy is hosting a gala with South African Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool. Tickets are $50 and proceeds will be donated to AIDS relief for children in South Africa.

Party/Rock band 49-cent dress takes the stage at Whitlow’s Saturday night. On Facebook, the band vows to dedicate a song to any man who shows up in a dress.
