Man Robbed at Knifepoint Near Shirlington

Arlington police carTwo knife-wielding men robbed a man last night in the Shirlington area.

The robbery was reported just after 11:30 p.m. Monday on the 4400 block of 31st Street S., which is about halfway up the hill from Shirlington to Fairlington.

A police dog was brought in but was unable to track down the suspect.

ARMED ROBBERY, 2017-01160301, 4400 block of S. 31st Street. At approximately 11:37 p.m. on January 16, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that two male suspects approached a male victim near his vehicle, both displayed knives, and told the victim to put his hands up. The suspects then rifled through the victim’s pockets and stole his belongings. The suspects then fled the scene. A K9 search was conducted with negative results. The suspects are described as approximately 5’9″ tall with a bulky build. They were dressed in all black, with black gloves, and black ski masks at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

Police Investigating Reported Gunpoint Robbery on Columbia Pike

Police car lightsA man told police he was robbed at gunpoint in a building along Columbia Pike Monday morning.

The incident happened just after 11 a.m. on the 3200 block of Columbia Pike, just east of the S. Glebe Road intersection.

The victim was robbed of his cash but no injuries were reported. Police tried to track the suspect but were unable to find him.

ROBBERY, 2017-01020060, 3200 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 11:13 a.m., an officer on routine patrol was flagged down by the victim who reported they had just been robbed at gunpoint. The victim advised he was in the stairwell of a business when the unknown suspect produced a handgun and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash. A K9 track of the area returned negative results. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with an average build wearing a red and black hoodies and blue jeans.

Police: Armed Robbery in Cherrydale Prompts K-9, Helicopter Search

Police car (file photo)Police are investigating a reported armed robbery that prompted a lot of law enforcement activity in the Cherrydale neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

Arlington County police officers responded to the 1500 block of N. Quincy Street around 12:30 a.m. after two male suspects reportedly approached three victims who had been walking in the area.

One of the suspects brandished a gun and demanded the victims’ belongings, according to police.

Police say the suspects took off on foot so they brought in an ACPD K-9 unit to track them. Fairfax County Police assisted with the search by sending a helicopter.

The suspects were not apprehended and the investigation is ongoing. From an ACPD crime report:

ARMED ROBBERY, 1500 block of N. Quincy Street. At approximately 12:25 a.m. on December 28, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery. Three victims were walking in the area when they were approached from behind by two male suspects. One of the suspects brandished a firearm and demanded the victims’ belongings. The suspects then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. A K9 track and an aerial observation assisted by Fairfax County Police helicopter were negative. The first suspect is described as a black male approximately 6’0″ tall, wearing all black with a black bandana over his face. The second suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’5″ tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The investigation is ongoing.

Police: Two Arrested After Failed Jewelry Store Armed Robbery

(Updated at 4:10 p.m. on 12/23/21) Two men armed with guns tried to rob a jewelry store in Lyon Park last night, according to police, but wound up empty-handed and in jail.

Police say Jorgito [Redacted], 37, of Alexandria and Alexander [Redacted], 21, of Puerto Rico tried to rob Sacramento Jewelers on the 2700 block of Washington Blvd just before 5:45 pm.

“Two masked suspects brandishing firearms entered a jewelry store and attempted to restrain one of the employees,” according to an Arlington County Police Department press release. “A struggle ensued between the employee and the suspects, causing the suspects to flee the area by vehicle.”

Police got a quick break in the case when someone noticed a suspicious vehicle stopped along I-395 shortly after the robbery “and provided critical information” that ultimately led investigators to the suspects, who were arrested in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County just before midnight.

Both [Redacted] and [Redacted] are being held in the Arlington County jail without bond.

The Arlington County Police Department has arrested and charged two suspects for their role in an armed robbery. Jorgito [Redacted], 37, of Alexandria VA and Alexander Serpa [Redacted], 21, of Puerto Rico were arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery, abduction, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and use or display of a firearm during the commission of a robbery. Both suspects are being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility on no bond.

At approximately 5:44 p.m. on December 7, officers were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery in the 2700 block of Washington Boulevard. The investigation revealed that two masked suspects brandishing firearms entered a jewelry store and attempted to restrain one of the employees. A struggle ensued between the employee and the suspects, causing the suspects to flee the area by vehicle.

During the course of the investigation, a witness driving on I-395 noticed a suspicious vehicle and provided critical information to the Emergency Communication Center. Utilizing the information provided by the witness, evidence located at the scene and information obtained during witness interviews, detectives developed suspect descriptions. Officers from the Arlington County Police Department’s Tactical Unit and the Fairfax County Police Department took the two suspects into custody in the Alexandria portion of Fairfax County.

Dry Cleaner Cleaned Out By Armed Robber in Aurora Highlands

Police car lightsAn armed robbery was reported Saturday afternoon in the Aurora Highlands neighborhood near Crystal City.

Police say a man entered a dry cleaning business on the 700 block of 23rd Street S. just after 2 p.m. The suspect brandished a gun, demanded money and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man then drove off in “newer model four-door sedan.”

The suspect is described as a 6’2″ black male, 250-270 lbs, in his 30s or 40s, according to Arlington County Police spokeswoman Ashley Savage.

ROBBERY, 2016-11190173, 700 block of S. 23rd Street. At approximately 2:12 p.m. on November 19, an unknown male subject entered a business, brandished a firearm, and demanded money from the employee. The subject fled the scene in a nearby vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash. The investigation is ongoing.

Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in Falls Church

Fairfax County police car lights(Updated at 7:25 p.m.) A man accused of robbing a 7-Eleven store in Falls Church at gunpoint early this morning was just arrested at a nearby motel.

The man was taken into custody without incident during a police operation at the Stratford Motor Lodge on W. Broad Street.

Arlington County Police SWAT officers assisted with the operation. Arlington County paramedics were staged near the scene as officers made the arrest.

An investigation by the City of Falls Church Police Department led to the arrest of the suspect of two robberies. Marcus Perry, age 39 from Washington, DC, is charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and three counts of malicious wounding. He is being held without bond. No photos are available at this time.

At about 2:45 a.m. today, City of Falls Church Police received a call for what was an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven convenience store (210 S. Washington St.). A suspect entered the store, demanded money while brandishing a handgun, then hit two employees on the head with the gun. The suspect took cash and fled on foot. The two victims were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Then, at about 8:40 a.m. today, a suspect entered an Exxon gas station (400 W. Broad St.), demanded money while brandishing a handgun, hit an employee on the head with the gun, took cash and fled on foot. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested Perry at the Stratford Motor Lodge (300 W. Broad St.) at about 10:30 a.m. after he was seen entering a guest room and matched the description of the suspect in the armed robberies.

Police Investigate Drive-By Armed Robbery in Crystal City

Fairfax County police car lightsA trio of suspects, one of whom was armed with a gun, robbed a man of his belongings in Crystal City on Saturday, police say.

This incident happened near the relatively busy intersection of Crystal Drive and 23rd Street, just after 8 p.m. Police are looking for the three men allegedly involved in the drive-by robbery.

ARMED ROBBERY, 161022054, 2300 block of Crystal Drive. At approximately 8:10 p.m. on October 22, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery. Upon investigation, it was determined that a male victim observed a vehicle pull up next to him and two male subjects exited the vehicle. One subject brandished a firearm and demanded the victim’s belongings. The suspects took the items belonging to the victim, re-entered the vehicle, and fled the area. The first suspect is described as a heavy set black male in his forties. He was wearing a light blue jean jacket and had a beard. The second suspect is described as a black male in his forties. He was wearing a black windbreaker jacket and a black hat. The third suspect is described as a black male in his forties, wearing a black t-shirt.

Crime Report: Used Car Haggling Goes Awry

Police car lightsA disagreement between a used car dealership employee and a customer turned heated last week.

The incident happened Saturday afternoon at a used car lot on Lee Highway, near Lyon Village.

Police say the customer eventually pulled a knife on the employee and “stole the keys to the vehicles on the lot.”

ROBBERY, 161015016, 2500 block of N. Lee Highway. At approximately 12:19 p.m. on October 15, officers responded to the report of male subject arguing with an employee over the sale of a vehicle. Upon investigation, it was determined that a male subject entered a business and following the verbal altercation, stole the keys to the vehicles on the lot. An employee confronted the subject and the subject pulled out a knife and charged at the employee. The employee was not injured and subject then fled the scene. Warrants were obtained for robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. The investigation is ongoing.

Armed Robbery at Arlington Forest Shopping Center

Police car (file photo)Three masked men with guns robbed a business in the Arlington Forest Shopping Center last night.

The robbery happened around 11:40 p.m. The men fled on foot with cash from the business’ cash register.

Police would not reveal which store was robbed, but the only business in the shopping center that is open past 10 p.m. is the Brick’s Pizza shop.

ARMED ROBBERY, 161010039, 4800 block of N. 1st Street. At approximately 11:39 p.m. on October 10, three unknown black males entered a business armed with handguns wearing black ski masks. Crime Report: Armed Robbery in Bluemont

Arlington County police carA man with a gun robbed a couple of people on N. George Mason Drive in the Bluemont neighborhood yesterday evening.

The crime happened close to the entrance to the Bluemont Junction Trail. Attempts by police to find the suspect were unsuccessful.

ARMED ROBBERY, 161004036, 700 block of  N. George Mason Drive. At approximately 6:00 p.m. on October 4, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery. When on scene it was determined that a male subject approached the victims, brandished a firearm, and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. A K-9 track was attempted with negative results due to the amount of pedestrian traffic in the area. The suspect is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 6’0″ tall and weighed 225 lbs. He was wearing a blue t-shirt, dark pants, and had dreadlocks.

Also in this week’s crime report, a man with a gun was able to detain a suspect who allegedly broke into his Waverly Hills home and stole booze from his refrigerator.

BURGLARY, 160929016, 4300 block of N. Old Dominion Drive. At approximately 10:03 a.m. on September 29, officers responded to the report of a fight in progress involving a firearm. Upon arrival, it was determined that a male victim witnessed a male subject exit his apartment through a window. The victim retrieved his firearm, chased the subject and was able to hold down the subject until officers arrived on scene. The firearm was not discharged and there were no injuries. It was later learned that the suspect took alcohol from the victim’s fridge. Ben Houssen, 39, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with burglary, grand larceny, and identity theft. He is being held without bond.

Woman Robbed While Putting Child in Back Seat of Car

Police cars outside of Department of Human Services (file photo)A woman was robbed by a knife-wielding man while she was placing her child in the back seat of her car, according to police.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, on N. Glebe Road just north of Route 50.

Police say the woman was attending to her child in the back seat of the vehicle when a man got into the car from the passenger side door and took a wallet from her purse.

When the woman confronted the man he allegedly pulled a knife on her, then fled in a waiting car. Police say they were able to later arrest two of the car’s four occupants.

ROBBERY, 060917060, unit block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 3:35 p.m. on September 17, a male subject entered the victim’s vehicle through the passenger side door and took her wallet from inside her purse. When the victim confronted the suspect, he brandished a knife. The suspect fled the area in a white four door sedan occupied by three additional suspects. Over the weekend, detectives identified and charged two suspects involved in the robbery. Lakeia Ward, 34, of Washington DC and Tykia Thomas, 27, of Washington DC were arrested and charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, larceny with intent to sell and destruction of property. The investigation into the identity of the additional suspects is ongoing.
