Woman Robbed By Armed Youths on W&OD Trail

Two juveniles are in custody after trying to rob a woman at gunpoint on the W&OD Trail, according to Arlington County Police.

The robbery happened around 4:20 p.m. Friday, on the trail near the East Falls Church Metro station.

Police say the woman yelled for help, scaring off the suspects. The pair — a juvenile male and female — were later arrested on a bus and charged with armed robbery and gun charges.

From an ACPD crime report:

ARMED ROBBERY, 160909040, 6600 block of N. 19th Road. At approximately 4:22 p.m. on September 9, officers responded to the report of a robbery. When on scene, it was determined that a female victim was walking on the W&OD trail and was approached by two masked subjects who demanded her property at gunpoint. The victim began to yell for help, causing the subjects to flee. A witness observed the subjects get on to a bus where they were later apprehended by officers. The male juvenile subject was charged with armed robbery, conspiracy, and use of a firearm while committing a felony. The female juvenile subject was charged with armed robbery and conspiracy. Both were transported to the juvenile detention facility.

Armed Robbery at Rosslyn Gas Station

A man with a gun robbed the Sunoco gas station in Rosslyn this morning.

The robbery happened just after 11 a.m. at the Sunoco at 1830 Fort Myer Drive, underneath the Arlington Temple United Methodist Church.

A man armed with a gun robbed the station, making off with hundreds of dollars in cash, according to initial reports. He was last seen fleeing southbound on N. Nash Street, on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male with short black hair, wearing a red shirt and black pants. He is said to be of medium height and medium build.

So far, police have been unable to locate the suspect.

Armed Robbers Force Man to Swim Across Potomac River Near GW Parkway Overlook

A pair of gun-wielding robbers forced a man to swim across the Potomac River after robbing him at a scenic spot along the George Washington Parkway yesterday evening.

The robbery happened last night near the first scenic overlook on the GW Parkway some time between 6 and 7 p.m., according to U.S. Park Police.

Two thieves armed with a gun took a man’s cell phone and wallet before telling him to swim across the Potomac, police said. The man was able to swim to the D.C. side of the river, where he told police what happened.

Though a search led to the detainment of two people, police released them “as they could not be positively identified as the attackers.”

A U.S. Park Police officer involved in the search was airlifted to the hospital due to “heat-related distress” but did not suffer any serious injuries.

Authorities are still searching for the robbers and have asked anyone with information regarding the crime to come forward.

The United States Park Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred last night near the first scenic overlook on the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The victim was relieved of his wallet and cell phone before being forced to enter the Potomac River and told to swim across.

After reaching shore on the DC side of the river, the victim alerted police who immediately began a search of the area. Two suspects were detained and eventually released without charges as they could not be positively identified as the attackers.

During the course of the search, a USPP officer suffered heat-related distress and was transported by helicopter to a local hospital. The officer was later released without incident.

Woman Robbed By Armed Man in Pentagon City

Arlington County Police are investigating an armed robbery Saturday morning in the Pentagon City area.

Police say a man with a gun got out of a car, robbed a woman of her belongings, and then got back into the car and drove off.

From an ACPD crime report:

ROBBERY, 160625017, 500 block of S. 15th Street. At approximately 6:45 a.m. on June 25, an unknown male subject, brandishing a firearm, exited the passenger side of a vehicle and approached a female victim. The suspect demanded her personal belongings and then fled in the nearby vehicle. The suspect is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 5’5″ tall with a small frame, and was wearing black sportswear and a mask that covered his face.

Man With Gun Robs Columbia Pike Store

A man armed with a semi-automatic handgun robbed a store on Columbia Pike during yesterday’s evening rush hour.

The robbery happened around 5:20 p.m., according to police, at a dollar store-type retailer on the 5000 block of Columbia Pike.

“An unknown male subject brandished a firearm at an employee and demanded cash from the cash register,” according to the Arlington County Police crime report. “The suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.”

The suspect is described as “a black male in his thirties, approximately 6’0″ tall and… 180 lbs.” He was wearing an orange long sleeve shirt, blue pants, a black mask and latex gloves, according to the crime report and scanner traffic.

Armed Robber Chased Away By Bottle-Throwing Employee

A would-be robber armed with a gun fled a Lee Highway store empty-handed after an employee started throwing glass bottles at him.

The incident happened Saturday, at a market on the 5100 block of Lee Highway, around 10:15 p.m.

A clerk was clearing out the cash register around closing time when a masked man entered and brandished a gun. A second employee, in defense of her coworker, then started throwing bottles at the armed man, according to Arlington County Police.

The robber fled the store and the area empty-handed.

Police say the crime was not reported until Monday, which is hindering the investigation.

“We always encourage people to report crimes to the Arlington County Police Department as soon as possible,” said ACPD spokeswoman Ashley Savage. “That always assists in the investigation.”

LATE ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY, 160418039, 5100 block of Lee Highway. At approximately 10:15 p.m. on April 16, an unknown male subject entered a store and brandished a firearm. A female employee was able to defend a male clerk by throwing glass bottles at the suspect. The suspect fled the scene on foot without any merchandise. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’9″ tall and weighed 150 lbs. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, mask, and black or dark green gloves.

Crime Report: Woman Robbed at Gunpoint on W&OD Trail

On Friday afternoon, a woman walking on the W&OD Trail was robbed at gunpoint by a pair of teens.

The robbery occurred near the East Falls Church Metro station.

From an Arlington County Police Department crime report:

ARMED ROBBERY, 160415027, 6600 block of N. 19th Road. At approximately 1:10 p.m. on April 15, a female was walking eastbound on the W&OD trail. She was approached from behind by two suspects who brandished a firearm and demanded her personal belongings. The suspects fled eastbound on W&OD trail with her cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash. Suspects are described as a black male and female in their late teens, approximately 5’5″-5’8″ tall with a thin build. They were wearing dark clothing.

Also in the latest ACPD crime report: a pair of armed robberies, in the Pentagon City area and along Lee Highway. Both robberies were reported to police well after the fact.

LATE ROBBERY, 160416020, 600 block of S. 15th Street. At approximately 2:45 p.m. on April 12, as a male victim was walking down the street he was approached by a male suspect who requested to use his cellphone. The victim complied and the suspect began walking away from the victim with his cellphone. The victim followed the subject in an attempt to regain his cellphone at which point two additional male suspects approached the victim. Two of the suspects brandished handguns and robbed the victim of his personal belongings. The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’8″ tall and weighed approximately 160 lbs. He was wearing a red shirt , gold chain, and black pants. The second suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’10” tall and weighed 180 lbs. He was wearing a denim jacket, dark jeans, and a black skull cap.

LATE ROBBERY, 160416070, 5000 block of N. Lee Highway. At approximately 10:20 p.m. on April 16, a male suspect at the corner of N. Edison Street and Lee Highway was approached from behind by an unknown male subject. The male suspect allegedly pointed a gun to his back and demanded his personal belongings. The suspect fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a dark colored winter hat, gray shirt, and gray pants.

Just after midnight this morning, ACPD officers were allegedly assaulted by a pair of drunk suspects outside the 7-Eleven store on Washington Blvd in Lyon Park.

Both suspects are from Woodbridge, as is a third suspect who was charged with drunk in public and obstruction of justice.

ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER, 160418001, 2700 block of N. Washington Boulevard. At approximately 12:02 a.m. on April 18, officers were dispatched to a 7/11 in reference to multiple disorderly subjects. The investigation revealed that a male suspect exited the store with alcohol that had not been properly paid for. During the course of the investigation the subject became combative towards the responding officers, striking them numerous times. Jonathan Lopez, 23, of Woodbridge VA, was charged with assault on police officer, felony petit larceny, disorderly conduct, and drunk in public. He is being held without bond. Angie Roque, 22, of Woodbridge VA, was charged with drunk in public and obstruction of justice. Warrants were obtained for Vianka Membreno, 23, of Woodbridge VA, for assault on police, disorderly conduct, and drunk in public.

Crime Report: Man Arrested After Exposing Himself to Woman Who Didn’t Even Notice It

(Updated at 4:10 p.m. on 12/23/21) A 35-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly exposing himself to a woman who was oblivious to the whole thing.

The incident happened just after noon on Tuesday, on the 3700 block of Wilson Blvd in Virginia Square.

Police say a man was following a woman down the street, exposing his genitals to her. The only problem: she didn’t notice. A man who did notice the indecent exposure came over and alerted the woman, who called police.

From an Arlington County Police Department crime report:

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 160412028, 3700 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 12:03 p.m. on April 12, a male witnessed a male subject following a female victim and exposing his genitals to her. Yaser Mansour [Redacted], 35, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with indecent exposure. He is being held without bond.

Also on Wednesday, a man was robbed at knifepoint by two suspects as he was leaving a building.

The incident happened around 10:40 a.m. on the 6100 block of Wilson Blvd, near Seven Corners.

Police are still investigating the the brazen, broad daylight robbery, during which one of the suspects held a knife to the victim’s throat. At one point the man tried to flee and had his hand slashed by the knife-wielding suspect, police said.

ROBBERY, 160412025, 6100 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 10:40 a.m. on April 12, two unknown subjects approached a male from behind and held a knife to his throat. When the victim attempted to flee, his hand was cut with the knife. The subjects fled the scene with the victims backpack. The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’0″ tall. He was wearing a black hoodie and black pants. The second suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’0″ tall. He was wearing a blue hoodie, jeans, and white shoes.

On Wednesday afternoon, meanwhile, a Dumfries man was arrested in Clarendon for allegedly brandishing a gun while driving.

The gun brandishing was observed by a police officer, who at first thought the man was threatening her. She called for backup and then conducted a traffic stop.

The man said he was not brandishing the gun at the officer, but rather at the car behind him, which was following too closely, according to Arlington County Police spokeswoman Ashley Savage. He was charged with brandishing a firearm near a school — since the New Directions school was located less than 1,000 feet away, on the 2800 block of Wilson Blvd, Savage said.

BRANDISHING FIREARM NEAR SCHOOL, 160412032, 3000 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 2:45 p.m. on April 12, while on patrol, an officer observed a male subject brandish a firearm in his vehicle near school property. Jeffrey M. Volan, 36, of Dumfries VA, was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm near a school. He was held on an unsecured bond.

Suspect Arrested in Clarendon Jimmy John’s Robbery

Arlington County Police say the suspect in a recent, brazen armed robbery has been arrested.

On Saturday, March 12, an armed man entered the Jimmy John’s sandwich shop at 1138 N. Irving Street around 9 p.m., as the surrounding Clarendon neighborhood bustled with bar-goers.

The man pointed a gun at an employee, demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Last night, a suspect was taken into custody.

Donnell Nolan-Sharpe, 25, of D.C. was arrested in the District and has been charged with armed robbery. He is currently awaiting extradition to the Commonwealth, according to ACPD spokeswoman Ashley Savage.

Clarendon Restaurant Robbed at Gunpoint Saturday Night

A restaurant in Clarendon was robbed at gunpoint Saturday as crowds of bar-goers flocked to the neighborhood.

Police say the Jimmy John’s sandwich shop at 1138 N. Irving Street was robbed just after 9 p.m.

“A male subject entered a restaurant and robbed the employee at gunpoint,” police said. “The suspect entered, displayed a firearm and instructed the employee to open the register. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.”

The investigation is continuing, although as of this afternoon no arrests had been made in the case.

Shot Fired During Home Invasion Robbery in Ashton Heights

Eight people were robbed and a shot was fired during a home invasion robbery in Ashton Heights early this morning.

The incident happened around 2:40 a.m. on the 700 block of N. Lincoln Street, not far from the Arlington Arts Center and the Virginia Square Metro station.

Police say eight people were hanging out in a home recording studio when one went outside to smoke a cigarette. As that individual went back inside, two men entered the house and told the crowd that they were being robbed. The victims initially thought it was a joke, and that’s when one of the suspects fired a gunshot into the ceiling, according to Arlington County Police spokeswoman Ashley Savage.

The victims were robbed of cash and electronics. Police believes they were targeted by the robbers.

“This appears to be a targeted incident and we do not believe there is a threat to the public at large,” Savage said.

“Suspect one is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 5’9″ with a thin build wearing all black clothing with white scarf,” according to a crime report. “Suspect two is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 5’8″ with a thin build wearing all black clothing. Investigation is ongoing.”
