Police car (file photo)A Maryland man has been arrested and charged with choking and assaulting a woman, then smashing her car’s windshield.

The incident happened late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, in the Barcroft neighborhood near Columbia Pike.

Police say the man and the woman knew each other.

From an Arlington County Police Department crime report:

TAMPERING WITH AUTO (significant), 2016-11290004, 5100 block of S. 8th Road. At approximately 12:10 a.m. on November 29, officers responded to the report of tampering with auto. Upon arrival, it was determined that a male subject assaulted a known female victim. After two witnesses broke up the altercation, the suspect left the residence and shattered the windshield of the victim’s vehicle. Ryan Victor Lane, 33, of Cockeysville MD, was arrested and charged with assault & battery, strangulation, and tampering with auto. He is being held without bond.

(Updated at 4:10 p.m. on 12/23/21) A man’s night out in Clarendon took a turn for the worse when he allegedly tried to fight a bouncer who was kicking him out of a Wilson Blvd bar.

The incident happened around 1:40 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police showed up and tried to restrain the man, who proceeded to resist and kick the officers, according to a crime report.

From ACPD:

ASSAULT ON POLICE x2, 161023003, 3100 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1:40 a.m. on October 23, a fight ensued inside a restaurant. Multiple officers approached a subject who was wrestling a bouncer and attempted to remove him. In the process of being removed, the subject bit two bouncers. When the subject was handcuffed, officers attempted to remove him from the premises but he wrapped his legs around a support pole and refused to let go. He continued to not comply and kicked two officers in their faces. Dylan Monroe [Redacted], 25, of an unknown address, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, assault on police, assault & battery, disorderly conduct, and drunk in public.


Fairfax County police car lightsA man was talking with a woman when he was suddenly punched in the face and robbed, according to this week’s Arlington County Police crime report.

The incident happened on the 300 block of N. Glebe Road, just south of Ballston. It was reported Monday afternoon, well after the crime was committed.

Police say both the woman who did the talking and the guy who did the punching are suspects in the robbery.

LATE ROBBERY, 161010018, 300 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 2:53 p.m. on October 10, officers responded to the report of a late robbery. The victim advised that while speaking to an unknown female, a male subject approached him and struck him in the face, knocking him to the ground. Both suspects then fled the scene with his personal belongings. The first suspect is described as a white female in her teens, approximately 5’5″ tall and 130 lbs. She was wearing black sweatshirt and black sweatpants. The second suspect is described as a black male in his teens, with black hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, khaki pant, and black shoes.

Arlington police carTwo theft suspects have been charged in connection with the assault of an Arlington County police officer at the Pentagon City mall over the weekend.

Police say the women, both from the District, “became combative” when an officer attempted to detain them following a theft from a store in the mall Saturday night.

They’re now facing a combination of assault on law enforcement, obstruction of justice, theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges.

From an ACPD crime report:

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 161008041, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 9:20 p.m. on October 8, an officer working the mall detail received a call from a store employee advising that a larceny had just occurred in their store. The officer located individuals matching the description made by the mall employee and attempted to detain the subjects to conduct the investigation. The subjects became combative and struggled with the officer. Backup officers arrived on scene and the two subjects were taken into custody. Ebony Cloyd, 36, of Washington DC, was arrested and charged with assault on law enforcement, obstruction of justice, petit larceny and contributing to the delinquency of a minor (x3). She was held on no bond. Prana Bell, 41, of  Washington DC was charged with obstruction of justice and contributing to the delinquency of a minor (x3). She was held on a $5000 secure bond.


Police car (file photo)A 23-year-old Arlington man has been accused of trying to fight and bite police officers during a drunken bender over the weekend.

Arlington County Police say they responded to the 1700 block of 15th Street S., in the Pentagon City area, early Sunday morning for a report of a “domestic dispute.” When they arrived on scene, the man — who was involved in the verbal altercation — became combative.

“One of the parties involved took a fighting stance, approaching officers and trying to strike them,” police said in a crime report. “After a brief struggle, the subject was taken into custody. While an officer was placing a seatbelt on the suspect, he attempted to bite the officer. Then while in booking the subject became combative again, causing multiple injuries to an officer.”

David Quinton Green was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer and drunk in public, according to ACPD. He was held without bond.


Police car (file photo)A 28-year-old man is facing assault charges after police say he spit on an officer.

The incident happened last night around 8:30 p.m. in Rosslyn. It started, police say, when they were called for a “disorderly” man who had slapped someone in the face several times after an argument.

From an Arlington County Police Department crime report:

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 160915045, 1100 block of N. 19th Street. At approximately 8:33 p.m. on September 15, officers responded to the report of a disorderly subject. Upon arrival, officers determined that following a verbal altercation the male subject slapped the victim in the face several times. When officers attempted to place the subject into custody, the subject resisted and spit on an officer. Mohammed Alotaibi, 28, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with assault & battery and assault on police.


Police car (file photo)A 25-year-old Arlington man was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly trying to pick a fight with police.

According to an Arlington County Police Department crime report, the man “attempted to strike an officer and pull the officer to the ground,” while the officer was assisting with crowd control in Clarendon around bar closing time.

From ACPD:

ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER, 160826007, 2800 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1:48 a.m. on August 26, officers responded to the area to assist with crowd control during restaurant closing time. An intoxicated male suspect approached the officers and attempted to start a confrontation. The male suspect became disorderly and when officers attempted to arrest him for Drunk In Public, he attempted to strike an officer and pull the officer to the ground. Francisco Xavier Andrade, 25, of Arlington VA was arrested and charged with Assault on Police (x2), Failure to ID, and Drunk in Public. He was held on no bond.


Police car (file photo)A man’s hand was slashed Monday night, in what was originally reported to be an accident but may have been the result of a fight.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Monday in a restaurant on the 500 block of 23rd Street S., in Crystal City. Police and medics responded, but were told that an accident caused the injury.

The next morning, police were called again and told that the injury was the result of an assault, not an accident.

Two restaurant employees “were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical,” said Arlington County Police spokeswoman Ashley Savage. “The victim was washing a knife at the time of the altercation and suffered a laceration to the hand which required medical treatment.”

LATE MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 160823025, 500 block of S. 23rd Street. At approximately 10:11 a.m. on August 23, officers responded to the report of a late assault with a weapon. Upon investigation, officers determined that the incident occurred the night prior when a male victim suffered a laceration to the hand following a verbal altercation. Police and medics had previously responded to the location on August 22 at approximately 10:00 p.m. but the incident was reported as an accident requiring medical attention. The victim was transported by medics to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Police car (file photo)A 20-year-old man is facing numerous charges after police say he knocked out a homeowner who threatened to call 911 because the man was assaulting a woman in front of his house.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday night, in the Arlington Forest neighborhood near the entrance to the Lubber Run Amphitheater.

From an Arlington County Police crime report:

BURGLARY W/ INTENT TO COMMIT ASSAULT, 160627052, 200 block of N. Columbus Street. At approximately 10:35 p.m. on June 27, a male homeowner witnessed a male subject assaulting a female victim in the street. The homeowner announces that he is going to call police, at which point the male subject forces entry into the home. Once inside the home, the male subject assaults the homeowner causing him to lose consciousness. Another resident of the home witnesses the assault, yells for him to leave, and the male subject threatens her and attempts to steal items before being led away by the initial female victim.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect was involved with additional incidents. At approximately 10:25 p.m. on June 27, the same suspect attempted to gain entry into a residence in the 100 block of N. Columbus Street, through the back door and the garage. Both attempts were unsuccessful. A witness reported then seeing the suspect proceed to a neighbor’s yard in the 100 block of N. Columbus Street and attempt to open a vehicle door, but was unsuccessful.

Victor Omar Suarez, 20, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with burglary with intent to commit assault, malicious wounding, attempted grand larceny, and possession of marijuana. He is being held without bond.


Police car (file photo)A police officer and a paramedic were trying to assist a drunk woman early Sunday morning when the woman kicked the officer to the ground and kicked the medic in the face.

The incident happened just past 12:30 a.m. in Clarendon. The woman, a 21-year-old Fredericksburg resident, is now facing multiple charges.

From an Arlington County Police Department crime report:

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 160626002, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 12:37 a.m. on June 26, officers responded to assist medics with a heavily intoxicated female. Upon arrival, the suspect became combative towards officers and medics. She was able to get her legs free and kick an officer to the ground and a medic in the face. Clara Sigman, 21, of Fredericksburg VA, was arrested and charged with assault on police, assault on firefighter, and drunk in public.

On Friday afternoon another officer was assaulted, this time on the 2100 block of Washington Blvd, home of Arlington’s Dept. of Human Services.

A 35-year-old woman spit on an officer who responded to the scene for a report of another assault that had just occurred. From ACPD:

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 160624051, 2100 block of S. Washington Boulevard. At approximately 3:39 p.m. on June 24, police were dispatched to the report of an assault that had just occurred. When on scene officers instructed the female subject to comply, she spit on the officer’s face. Senait Taye, 35, of Arlington VA, was arrested and charged with assault on police and assault and battery.


Police car (file photo)A road rage dispute led to a man biting a woman’s finger, according to an Arlington County Police crime report.

The incident happened just past 8 p.m. last night (Wednesday), on the 800 block of 15th Street S., near Pentagon City mall.

The suspect, a 55-year-old Arlington resident, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, assault and DUI.

From ACPD:

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 160608056, 800 block of S. 15th Street. At approximately 8:20 p.m. on June 8, police responded to the area for the report of a fight in progress. Arriving officers located a female victim suffering from various injuries including a bite wound on her index finger. The injuries resulted from an argument that stemmed from a road rage incident. Medics treated the victim on scene for non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, officers located the suspect at his residence where he was placed under arrest. Timothy Dubois, 55, of Arlington VA, was charged with malicious wounding, assault & battery, and driving under the influence. He is being held on no bond.
