Crime Report: Someone Broke into a Rosslyn Apartment and Cleaned It

In this week’s Arlington County Police Department crime report, a Rosslyn resident called police to report that someone broke into their apartment and cleaned it.

The resident had been on a trip when the alleged break-in occurred. There was nothing reported missing from the apartment.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2017-08080001, 1500 block of Clarendon Boulevard. At approximately 12:03 a.m. on August 7, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. A resident returning home from a trip discovered their apartment had been cleaned and items moved around but nothing appeared to be missing. There is no suspect description.

Police: Intruder Found in Attic After Resident Hears Footsteps

A 60-year-old man was arrested after he was found in the attic of a home in the Aurora Highlands neighborhood near Pentagon City.

Police say the resident of a home heard footsteps coming from above early Friday morning and called police. A suspect was located and charged with unlawful entry.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2017-07210024, 800 block of 22nd Street S. At approximately 1:24 a.m. on July 21, police responded to the report of a possible unlawful entry. Upon arrival, it was determined that police were contacted after a tenant reported hearing footsteps in the attic. Police searched the residence and located the suspect. Anthony Jones, 60, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Unlawful Entry. He was held without bail.

At Least Sixteen Vehicles Broken Into in Madison Manor

Despite a pair of arrests earlier this week, car break-ins are continuing in Arlington.

Someone broke into at least 16 cars — most of them unlocked — between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in the Madison Manor neighborhood. Items of value were stolen.

Arlington County Police have repeatedly advised residents to lock their cars and remove valuables.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (Series), 2017-06210061, 800 block of N. Nottingham Street. At approximately 7:20 a.m. on June 21, officers responded to the report of a larceny from auto. Upon arrival, it was determined between 10:00 p.m. on June 20 and 7:10 a.m. on June 21, an unknown(s) suspect entered at least 16 mostly unlocked vehicles and stole items of value. A resident in the area called to report suspicious activity after witnessing an unknown suspect enter several vehicles. The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a black male in his early twenties, approximately 5’9″ tall and weighed 150-160 lbs. He was wearing dark clothing. The investigation is ongoing.

Crime Report: Armed Robbery Along Columbia Pike

A victim was robbed by two armed men along Columbia Pike last night after the trio met to exchange cash as part of a sale arranged online.

That’s according to this week’s Arlington County Police Department crime report.

Police set up a perimeter and used a K-9 to try to track the suspects but they remain at large. More from ACPD:

ARMED ROBBERY, 2017-06200273, 1400 block of S. Queen Street. At approximately 9:14 p.m. on June 20, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim and the two unknown male suspects were connected through an online classified and had arranged to meet for a cash transaction. During the transaction, one suspect brandished a firearm and stole the victim’s cash. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. The first suspect is described as a black male, wearing a white tank top and shorts. The second suspect is described as a black male. The investigation is ongoing.

Also on Tuesday, police arrested two Falls Church men for a series of car break-ins in the Madison Manor neighborhood, near the East Falls Church Metro station.

LARCENY FROM AUTO(Series), 2017-06200005, 1100 block of N. Powhatan Street. At approximately 12:25 a.m. on June 20, officers responded to the report of a tampering. Upon arrival, it was determined two suspects entered at least four vehicles and stole items of value. Officers located and apprehended both suspects in the area shortly after. Louis Earl Blount Jr., 18, of Falls Church VA, and David Evans-Herring, 20, of Falls Church VA, were arrested and charged with petit larceny and tampering with auto. Both suspects are being held without bond.

Crime Report: Airbags Stolen from Cars in Fairlington

A number of vehicles were broken into in the Fairlington neighborhood earlier this week, according to the weekly Arlington County Police Department crime report.

The suspect — or suspects — stole airbags from the “at least five” vehicles, which, according to a police spokeswoman, were all Hondas and Acuras.

The thefts were centered around 29th Street S., between S. Buchanan and Columbus Streets, and were reported to police Tuesday morning.

Police Investigating Another Series of Car Break-ins

Police are investigating yet another series of vehicle break-ins that occurred overnight.

The break-ins were reported in various locations, but were centered around the Arlington Heights and Lyon Park neighborhoods and Route 50.

Arlington County Police Department spokeswoman Ashley Savage said nearly two dozen cars were broken into, with items stolen from many.

Arlington County Police are investigating a series of larcenies from auto overnight originating in the unit block of S. Highland Street. Approximately 20 mostly unlocked vehicles were entered, rummaged through and various items of value were reported stolen. Police remain in the area investigating. Citizens are reminded to remove valuables, lock vehicle doors and keep windows up whenever their vehicle is not in use. If you see something suspicious in your neighborhood, report to the emergency communication center at 703-558-2222.

Teens Apprehended for Car Break-Ins

Police picked up two teens accused of breaking into cars early Saturday morning.

Around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, police received a call from a citizen who reported seeing people tampering with vehicles along the 4100 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. Officers responded to the area, established a perimeter and located the two suspects matching the descriptions the witness provided.

Investigators determined that eight vehicles had been broken into and rummaged through, and several had items of value stolen. Most of the vehicles had not been locked.

The 16- and 17-year-old suspects both face charges in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Police have not linked them to other recent car break-in cases throughout the county, but the investigation is ongoing.

Two Arrested for EFC Vehicle Break-Ins

An alert resident and some quick police work led to the arrest of two men suspected of breaking into cars in the East Falls Church area early Friday morning.

Police said the men, both of whom are in their 20s and from Maryland, “entered and rummaged through” a dozen vehicles, stealing a number of items including credit cards.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (Series), 2017-03310502, 2200 block of N. Tuckahoe Street. At approximately 1:46 a.m. on March 31, police were dispatched to a citizen report of suspicious subjects in the area. Responding officers established a perimeter and stopped two subjects matching the witness descriptions. During the course of the investigation, officers located approximately twelve vehicles which has been entered and rummaged through. Randolph Tyler, 27, of Temple Hills, MD was arrested and charged with credit card theft (x2), possession of burglarious tools, tampering with a motor vehicle (x4), petit larceny (x2), identity theft to avoid arrest and possession of marijuana. He was held on no bond. David Moody, 26, of Morning Side, MD, was arrested and charged with credit card theft (x2), possession of burglarious tools, petit larceny, and tampering with a motor vehicle (x4). He was held on no bond.

Meanwhile, another series of break-ins was reported Monday morning, this time in the Fairlington area. Officers said the suspects entered at least three cars that were left unlocked overnight.

These two series of break-ins follows a number of similar break-in sprees since the beginning of the year.

Resident Confronts Man Breaking into Neighbor’s Car

Police car lightsA man is suspected of breaking into some 30 cars in north Arlington over the weekend.

The break-ins and thefts happened in the area of the Overlee pool along Lee Highway, and were first reported around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Police say the man fled the scene after a resident confronted him, as he was breaking into a neighbor’s car on the 6000 block of 23rd Street N.

The cars that were broken into were unlocked, according to an Arlington County Police Department crime report. More from ACPD:

LARCENY FROM AUTO (Series), 2017-02250088, 6000 block of 23rd Street N. At approximately 6:11 a.m. on February 25, police were dispatched to the report of a tampering with auto that had just occurred. A witness confronted a suspect he observed inside a neighbor’s vehicle. The suspect fled the scene in a maroon colored sedan. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’10” and weighing 160 lbs. He was wearing a black hoodie and black pants at the time of the incident. While canvassing the area, police discovered approximately 30 unlocked vehicles were entered and numerous items of value stolen.
