At least four cars were broken into and rummaged through in Rosslyn between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Police say “numerous items of value” were stolen from the cars, which were parked on the 1800 block of N. Quinn Street.

Arlington County Police are investigating a series of more than a dozen car break-ins in the Old Glebe neighborhood of north Arlington.
The break-ins were reported this morning in the area of the 4600 block of 41st Street N.
“Overnight approximately 15 unsecure vehicles were entered and rummaged through for valuables,” said ACPD spokeswoman Ashley Savage. “At this point in the investigation, no significant items have been reported missing. Police remain on scene investigating and are canvassing the area.”
“If anyone has additional information regarding this investigation, they are asked to call the non-emergency number at 703-558-2222,” Savage added.
Two Arlington men in their teens have been charged with a series of car break-ins near Virginia Hospital Center.
The pair were arrested Saturday night after trying to flee from officers, according to an Arlington County Police Department crime report. They’re accused of breaking into at least three vehicles and stealing items.
From the crime report:
GRAND LARCENY x2 (significant), 2017-01210264, block of N. 16th Road between N. Greenbrier and N. Harrison Street. At approximately 9:52 p.m. on January 21, officers responded to the report of suspicious subjects tampering with autos in the area. Upon arrival, one subject was observed exiting a vehicle and another subject was observed nearby. As officers exited their vehicle, the subjects fled the scene on foot. One subject was caught quickly and the other was stopped by perimeter units in the area. Charles Edward Contreras, 19, of Arlington VA, was arrested and charged with three counts of trespassing of a motor vehicle, two counts of grand larceny, and petit larceny. He is being held on no bond. Antonio Vincente Shivers, 18, of Arlington VA, was arrested and charged with three counts of trespassing of a motor vehicle and petit larceny. He is being held on a $2000 secured bond.
What started as a routine traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest of three Maryland residents for allegedly stealing items from cars.
Police say the officer noticed stolen items in plain sight in the car after pulling it over on the 2300 block of S. Kenmore Street, in the Nauck neighborhood, early Wednesday morning.
The three suspects are facing multiple charges for credit card theft and “trespass of a vehicle.”

LARCENY FROM AUTO (Series), 2016-1123021, 2300 block of S. Kenmore Street. At approximately 2:30 a.m. on November 23, an officer on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit. In plain sight, officers located property allegedly stolen during a recent larceny from auto. Bizana Zo’ongola-Belinga, 19, of Bowie MD was charged with credit card theft (x3), conspiracy to commit credit card theft, possession of marijuana and trespass of a vehicle. Chima Nnaka, 19, of Mitchellville MD was charged with credit card theft (x3), conspiracy to commit credit card theft and trespass of a vehicle. Matthew Bea, 23, of Bowie MD was charged with credit card theft (x3), conspiracy to commit credit card theft, possession of burglarious tools and trespass of a vehicle. All suspects were held on secured bonds.
Arlington County Police are trying to find the man responsible for a series of four burglaries or attempted burglaries in the Long Branch Creek neighborhood, near Pentagon City.
A crime report (below) details the overnight burglary and break-in spree, during which the man accidentally woke up two residents while inside their homes and, at one point, apparently cut himself badly enough while trying to cut through a screen door that he left a blood trail.
The suspect did manage to steal “numerous items of value” in the process.

BURGLARY(series), 2016-11160038, 1400 block of S. 28th Street. Between 3:15 a.m. and 3:20 a.m. on November 16, a male victim was awoken and discovered an unknown male subject inside his residence. The male victim confronted the suspect and the suspect fled the residence on foot causing the victim to contact police. Numerous items of value were reported stolen.
At approximately 3:23 a.m. on November 16, officers responded to the 2800 block of S. Meade Street for the report of a burglary in progress. A female victim awoke to an unknown male subject in her residence causing the male subject to flee on foot. The victim then contacted police. No items appeared to be missing from the residence.
At approximately 9:43 a.m. on November 16, officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of S. Glebe Road for suspicious circumstances. The female victim discovered blood on her front door and two large holes in her window screen. No entry was made into the residence.
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on November 16, officers responded to the 1400 block of S. 28th Street for a late burglary. The female victim attempted to enter her apartment and discovered it was secured by a deadbolt. Once the victim was able to make entry she discovered numerous items of value were stolen from the residence.
The suspect is described as an unknown age black male, approximately 6’0″ tall and weighed 200-215 lbs. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. Officers on scene determined the subject made entry into the residences through unlocked windows. Investigation is ongoing.
The Arlington County Police Department is investigating some two dozen car break-ins in the Williamsburg neighborhood of north Arlington, near East Falls Church.
The break-ins were reported earlier today (Tuesday).
“Approximately 25 vehicles were entered and items of value stolen,” ACPD spokeswoman Ashley Savage told ARLnow.com. “Officers remain on scene investigating and are canvassing the area to determine if there are any additional victims.”
“This series includes unlocked vehicles so we are reminding citizens to remove the opportunity for crime by locking their vehicle doors, keeping windows up and valuables out of sight,” Savage added. “Please report suspicious activity to the Emergency Communication Center at 703-558-2222.”
(Updated at 1:55 p.m.) An Arlington resident’s home was broken into and his car was vandalized, all because of some perceived transgressions on the dancefloor.
The incident happened early Sunday morning, according to Arlington County Police, at a residence on the 4500 block of N. Carlin Springs Road, near Ballston.
“At approximately 3:52 a.m. on October 2, officers responded to the report of a disorderly subject,” said an ACPD crime report. “Upon arrival it was determined that a female subject entered a residence and damaged a door and door [jamb]. The subject then moved outside to a vehicle and smashed the windshields and slashed the tires.”
The motive for the crime was dancing-related, said police spokeswoman Ashley Savage.
“The victim and the subject were at a nightclub earlier in the evening and a verbal altercation ensued over the subject dancing with other individuals,” she told ARLnow.com
Annapolis, Maryland resident Tiffany Mason, 28, was arrested and charged with destruction of property and breaking and entering, according to police. She was held without bond.
Thanks to an alert citizen and some quick action, Arlington County Police were able to apprehend a would-be burglar near Shirlington early Monday morning.
Police say a 20-year-old man was arrested after smashing a window at a store on the 4000 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive, then fleeing when a witness spotted him in the act.

BREAKING & ENTERING, 160808005, 4000 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At approximately 4:00 a.m. on August 8, officers were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. A witness observed a suspect smash a window to a store and then flee when he saw the witness. Responding officers located and apprehended the suspect in the area. Duwan Marquise Terry, 20, of Arlington VA, was arrested and charged with breaking & entering and burglary. He is being held on no bond.

Arlington County police responded to a series of vehicle vandalisms and break-ins over the weekend.
On Saturday morning, police found “numerous vehicles” in the East Falls Church area with tires slashed and body panels “keyed.”
The vandalism was centered around the 2400 block of N. Sycamore Street, near Bishop O’Connell High School.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, 160702013, 2400 block of N. Sycamore Street. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on July 2, an officer responded to the listed address for the report of a destruction of property to a vehicle. Numerous vehicles in the area had their tires slashed and were keyed. There is no suspect description.
Also on Saturday morning, police investigated a series of vehicle break-ins in the Penrose and Columbia Heights neighborhoods around Columbia Pike. In total, seven unlocked vehicles were broken into but only two car owners reported that items had stolen.
LARCENY FROM AUTO, 160702012, 1600 block of S. Barton Street. At approximately 8:00 a.m. on July 2, an officer responded to the listed address for the report of items stolen out of an unlocked vehicle. Another officer canvassed the area and discovered two other unlocked vehicles that had been entered but nothing was stolen. There is no suspect description.
TAMPERING WITH AUTO, 160702016, 1800 block of S. 9th Street. At approximately 8:45 a.m.on July 2, an officer responded to the listed address for the report of a tampering with auto. Upon arrival, it was determined that someone had entered an unlocked car and stole items of value. Officers canvassed the area and discovered three other unlocked vehicles that had been rummaged through but nothing was taken. There is no suspect description.
(Updated at 3:10 p.m.) Arlington County Police are investigating a break-in and theft at Japanese Auto Service, a service station located between Clarendon and Virginia Square.
The service center, at 3413 Wilson Blvd, has been in business for 19 years, according to owner Ed Lahrime. It was broken into by an unknown suspect early Sunday morning.

“At approximately 4:51 a.m. on March 27, an unknown male subject forced entry into a business and stole several items of value and an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and dark shoes.”
A customer provided ARLnow.com with some additional details about what happened.
“The thief took their cash register and a significant amount of money in cash and checks,” the customer told us. “The store owner was able to provide the police with video of the suspect and they are currently reviewing the footage. Poor guy looked heart broken that his business had been violated like that.”
Lahrime said that his motion detection security system didn’t go off during the break-in, for some reason, and has since been replaced by the security company. He also had to replace a broken window and his cash register. All told, the theft is costing him more than $1,500, along with some sleep and peace of mind, he said.
“I couldn’t sleep that night,” he said. “I had to put my phone [with a connection to the surveillance system] next to me to make sure he didn’t come back to rob us again.”
Police told Lahrime of a number of other recent burglaries and burglary attempts in various parts of the county, from Shirlington to Clarendon, he said. This was the first burglary at Japanese Auto Service since it opened nearly two decades ago.
“Arlington is not safe,” said Lahrime.
Tuesday afternoon Arlington County Police released multiple surveillance images of the suspect, describing him as “a white male in his mid-20’s to early 30’s, wearing dark clothing and a gray hoodie.”
“If anyone has information on the identity and/or whereabouts of this individual, please contact Detective Echenique of the Arlington County Police Department’s Burglary/Larceny Unit at 703.228.4241 or at [email protected],” police said in a press release. “To report information anonymously, contact the Arlington County Crime Solvers at 866.411.TIPS (8477).”
“This is an ongoing and active investigation,” said ACPD spokeswoman Ashley Savage.
The video shows the thief returning to the scene of the crime a half hour after the initial break-in, apparently to steal some change from the floor, Lahrime added.
A woman woke up early Monday morning to find a man in her kitchen, stealing from her.
The incident happened around 3:45 a.m. at a home near East Falls Church. The suspect fled was was soon found by police and taken into custody.

BURGLARY, 151207009, 2400 block of N. Potomac Street. At approximately 3:45 a.m. on December 7, a female victim awoke to an unknown male subject in her kitchen. The subject fled out the back door taking an undisclosed amount of cash. Shortly after, officers located a subject matching the suspect description and found items belonging to the victims on him. Michael Edward Thomas, 25, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of a controlled substance, petit larceny, and possession of marijuana. He is being held without bond.
