A crash and an overturned car left the eastbound lanes blocked on Army Navy Drive in Pentagon City on Thursday morning.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. August 3 near the Macy’s department store at Army Navy Drive’s intersection with S. Hayes Street. It left a black car on its side at the scene.
Police closed all lanes going east, while a photo from a reader shows a long line of cars stopped trying to get onto Army Navy Drive from I-395.
According to scanner traffic, the car was back “on all fours” just before 8:20 a.m. Police reopened the eastbound lanes just before 8:30 a.m.
That section of Army Navy Drive is a busy one in the mornings, as it connects to I-395 and takes hundreds of cars to and from the nearby Pentagon.

Update at 4:35 p.m. — The northbound lanes of the parkway have reopened.
Earlier: Northbound lanes of the GW Parkway are blocked due to a multi-vehicle crash involving an overturned car.
The crash happened around 3:50 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Parkway near Reagan National Airport and left one car on its roof. According to scanner traffic, all occupants of the cars involved were able to get out without the assistance of rescuers.
A man and woman were reported to be injured in the crash. One was transported via ambulance to the trauma center at George Washington University Hospital, while the other was taken to Virginia Hospital Center for treatment.
Northbound traffic is blocked and being diverted. One southbound lane is also blocked by the emergency response. The closures, coming during the evening rush hour, are causing significant traffic delays.
Arlington police and fire department units responded to the call, assisted by others from Alexandria and U.S. Park Police.

A car crashed into a side entrance of Target in Potomac Yard, just over the Arlington border in Alexandria.
The car came through a smaller door at the store at 3330 Jefferson Davis Highway at around 11:20 a.m. this morning. The driver and a passenger were extricated after a brief entrapment, according to scanner traffic. Both were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash left the front side of the car mangled, and set off an alarm in the store away from the main retail section. Customers continued to enter the store as normal, while police were out directing traffic around the scene but did not close any travel lanes in the parking lot.
Firefighters from the Arlington County Fire Department initially went to assist at the scene, but as of 11:45 a.m. had left. Police and fire units from Alexandria remained on scene.
(Updated 3:15 p.m.) Police temporarily closed Wilson Blvd at its intersection with N. Danville Street in Clarendon after two cars crashed this afternoon.
The crash occurred around 2:40 p.m., involving a blue Toyota and a white car. The white car had its front bumper ripped off in the collision, while the Toyota was damaged on its left side. The intersection is near Whole Foods and Market Common.
Officers temporarily closed Wilson Blvd near the intersection and diverted traffic onto other streets. According to scanner traffic, one person suffered minor injuries.
A crash involving a motorcyclist sent one person to the hospital and closed lanes on Glebe Road this morning.
The crash happened around 10 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Glebe near an on-ramp to Route 50. Initial reports suggest a driver in a silver Mercedes-Benz struck the motorcycle, sending its rider tumbling onto the street.
The rider reportedly suffered only minor injuries and was transported via ambulance to the hospital.
An Arlington County Fire Department hazmat crew witnessed the crash and was the first to call it in to dispatchers, according to scanner traffic.
The southbound lanes of Glebe were blocked immediately following the crash. As of 10:55 a.m. one lane remains blocked as the motorcycle is loaded onto a flatbed tow truck.
A car crashed into the front door of a dentist’s office in Buckingham this morning, trapping patients inside for a brief time according to scanner traffic.
The car crash into Breckenridge Family Dental on the 400 block of N. Park Drive just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday (July 20). The dentist’s office is near Barrett Elementary School and the Lubber Run Community Center.
A captain with the Arlington County Fire Department said at the scene that the crash caused minor property and vehicle damage, but no injuries. He added that patients were trapped because of the way the car wedged against the door, but that firefighters and medics quickly moved it.
Patients were able to go in and out of a side entrance once the car had moved out of an abundance of caution. No roads were closed.
(Updated at 5:15 p.m.) Police closed westbound Interstate 66 near the Rosslyn tunnel Friday afternoon after a three-vehicle crash.
Units from the Arlington County Fire Department responded to the scene under Rosslyn Gateway Park with Virginia State Police just after 3:30 p.m after reports of the crash.
Three patients were transported to the hospital with injuries, according to scanner traffic.
Officers and crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation blocked all lanes of westbound I-66 and diverted traffic in the area onto Lee Highway. Delays are likely to continue into the evening rush hour, although police said they will look to reopen one westbound lane soon.
Traffic is backing up on I-395 after a crash in the southbound lanes near King Street.
As of 1:15 p.m., all but one lane was blocked due to the emergency response. Injuries were reported in the crash, but were said to not be serious in nature.
Arlington County Police, Arlington medics and Virginia State Police are on scene.

(Updated at 7:45 p.m.) Police and firefighters are on scene of a crash involving an Arlington Transit bus and an SUV in the Nauck neighborhood.
The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. Monday at the intersection of S. Nelson Street and 22nd Street S. Neighbors have been told that the bus somehow lost power heading up the steep hill on 22nd Street and began rolling backward, striking the parked SUV, knocking down utility lines and a light pole, and spinning into the yard of a home on the corner.
Several passengers were on board the bus at the time of the crash. One person, believed to be a passenger on the bus, suffered non-life-threatening facial injuries.
Police and ART officials were on scene taking photos and investigating the crash. A large wrecker later arrived to remove the bus from the yard.
The residents of the house the vehicles nearly slid into were at home at the time of the crash. Jill Brown said she and her husband were 10 feet from the wall closest to the collision.
“I heard the impact from the bus hitting my neighbor’s car, which was parked on the street when the bus slid into it,” Brown said. “I stood up, ran over and said to my husband, ‘Oh my God there’s a bus in the yard, call 911.’ And I ran out and… ran around the bus and made sure people were getting off the bus.”
“I saw one person go away in an ambulance, everyone else just seemed pretty shook up,” she said.

(Updated 6/17/17) A Barrett Elementary School student was struck and injured by a driver in front of the school, just after dismissal Friday.
The crash happened shortly after 3 p.m. along N. George Mason Drive. The student was assisted by crossing guards and parents after being struck by the vehicle, before medics arrived.
The student’s injuries are being described as non-life-threatening, but the student was transported to the trauma center at Inova Fairfax Hospital and police investigators briefly photographed the scene.
Part of N. George Mason Drive was blocked during the emergency response.
On Saturday, a police spokeswoman said no charges would be filed as a result of the crash.
“The investigation determined that the juvenile entered the intersection of N. George Mason Drive at N. Henderson Road against the traffic signal and was struck by a vehicle,” said Arlington County Police Department spokeswoman Ashley Savage. “The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. The juvenile was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No charges are pending.”
Barrett principal Dan Redding sent the following email to parents about the crash.
I am writing to provide information regarding a student pedestrian accident that occurred at dismissal time today, June 16, 2017. A Barrett student was struck by a vehicle at 4th Street and Henderson Street, and Police and EMS responded immediately. The injuries are not life-threatening, and the student has been transported to the hospital for treatment. Police are investigating the accident.
This is an opportunity to remind families to review safety procedures with their children, and to practice them when they walk, bike or ride the bus to school. As always, we are grateful for our amazing crossing guards and for the Barrett families who stopped to provide assistance.
