A crash on northbound I-395 near Glebe Road is blocking several lanes.
As of 3:25 p.m., all but two lanes were blocked and traffic was backing up before the crash scene.
Arlington County Police are on scene assisting with traffic control. To help ease congestion, the on-ramp to northbound I-395 from Shirlington Circle has been temporarily closed.
A crash on I-66 this morning resulted in four reported injuries.
The crash, near N. Sycamore Street, occurred around 11:15 a.m. and snarled traffic for more than an hour. Two vehicles, including a red pickup truck, were involved.
Four people were transported to the hospital via ambulance, according to scanner traffic, including one person whose injuries were reported to be serious.
A car ran down an embankment and into a ravine along the Spout Run Parkway this afternoon.
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m., near a turnaround halfway between Lee Highway and the GW Parkway.
Witnesses told ARLnow.com that the driver tried to take the turnaround at a high rate of speed; her car careened across the eastbound lanes of the parkway and into the woods, taking down at least one tree and winding up near the stream.
The driver was able to get out of the car on her own and is expected to be okay. As of 1 p.m. towing crews and U.S. Park Police were still in the process of removing the car from the woods. The car was barely visible from the road due to thick foliage.
(Updated at 11:25 p.m.) Arlington County police and firefighters responded to a multi-vehicle crash on northbound I-395 just before the 14th Street Bridge.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m., in the midst of rush hour. More than 20 vehicles were involved over a stretch of I-395. All lanes heading to D.C. were completely blocked at the main crash site. Traffic was being diverted onto the GW Parkway and Washington Blvd, though HOV lanes remained open.
There was a report of a woman trapped in one of the vehicles, but she was quickly freed, according to scanner traffic. Four people were said to be injured, but their injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening. Three were transported to local hospitals.
The driver of a pickup truck suffered a medical emergency, leading to the crashes, according to a statement from Virginia State Police (below).
At 6:25 p.m., Tuesday (July 12, 2016), Virginia State Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of I-395 in Arlington County.
The driver of a 2002 Toyota Tundra was traveling north on I-395 when he experienced a medical emergency and lost control of his vehicle. The Tundra began bumping into other northbound vehicles causing a chain reaction crash over a five mile stretch of interstate that ended when the Tundra got boxed in by traffic and came to a stop at Exit 10C.
A total of 21 vehicles were involved – to include the Toyota Tundra. The majority of vehicles had only minor damage with just eight having to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the Tundra, a 57-year-old Alexandria, Va., man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crashes…and for his serious medical emergency. At this stage of the investigation, he is not being charged due to the circumstances of the medical emergency.
Three other people were also transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
The scene was cleared and all lanes re-opened by 8:55 p.m.
The driver of a car ran into the garage door to the Woodbury Heights condo building in Courthouse this morning.
The crash happened around 11 a.m., on 13th Street N. just a block from Arlington County Police headquarters. No significant injuries were reported.
The car that crashed into the garage door, an Infiniti, suffered front end damage.
A man in his mid-30s was helping an older man out of the back of the car when an ARLnow.com intern arrived on scene. “Photos are over,” the man said before walking back into the building.
(Updated at 9:50 p.m.) Arlington County police and firefighters responded to a serious multi-vehicle crash on S. Glebe Road Tuesday night.
The crash happened just before 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of Glebe and 19th Street S. Police on scene reported that four people were injured, including an 8-year-old girl who was initially trapped in one of the vehicles.
“A vehicle was on S. Glebe Road driving at a high rate of speed when it crossed into oncoming traffic, striking two vehicles,” said ACPD spokeswoman Ashley Savage.
Three of the injured individuals are being transported to the trauma center at Inova Fairfax Hospital, according to scanner traffic.
“All three occupants of one vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” Savage said. “An 8-year-old girl suffered critical injuries. Occupants of the second vehicle were treated by medics on scene but refused transport.”
One person has been taken into custody by officers on reported suspicion of DUI, according to scanner traffic.
“The driver of the striking vehicle is expected to face charges,” said Savage. “Those charges have not been determined at this time.”
There were three men in the striking vehicle, according to Savage. One was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, for a total of four who were hospitalized.
The crash involved a Chevrolet Camero, a Land Rover SUV and a Nissan Leaf electric vehicle.
Both directions of Glebe Road were closed at the crash scene. The road was expected to remain closed while the cars are removed, debris is cleared and a police investigation is conducted.
A driver involved in a fender bender is now facing charges of reckless driving, unlawful wounding and hit and run.
The crash happened on the 2400 block of S. Kenmore Street, in the Nauck neighborhood. Police say Maryland resident Brunilda Lopez struck the other driver involved with her car and then drove off.

UNLAWFUL WOUNDING, 160630029, 2400 block of S. Kenmore Street. At approximately 12:00 p.m. on June 30, two vehicles were involved in a minor accident. As the drivers were exchanging information the suspect returned to her vehicle. The victim attempted to prevent the suspect from leaving by standing in front of her vehicle and was struck. Medics arrived on scene and the victim refused transport to the hospital. Warrants have been issued for reckless driving, unlawful wounding, and hit and run for Brunilda Lopez, 50, of Montgomery MD.
A pizza delivery driver was T-boned in a crash near Clarendon this afternoon.
The crash occurred shortly after noon at the intersection of Washington Blvd and N. Kirkwood Road.
A pickup truck slammed into the passenger side of the Paisano’s Pizza delivery car at the intersection. The circumstances leading to the crash are unclear at this point.
According to scanner traffic, one person was bleeding from the head and required medical attention following the wreck.
A two-vehicle crash toppled over a streetlight and an attached traffic signal in Pentagon City today.
The wreck happened around noon, at the intersection of Army Navy Drive and S. Hayes Street, near the Pentagon City mall.
The exact circumstances of the crash were unclear, but one of the vehicles, an SUV, suffered seemingly minor front end damage while the second vehicle, a sedan with an Uber sticker in the window, suffered heavier damage. The damage to the sedan included a windshield apparently smashed by the light pole.
No injuries were reported. One travel lane on both Hayes and Army Navy, as well as part of the sidewalk, was blocked while crews worked to turn off power to the damaged pole and clean up the damage.
Firefighters freed an individual from an overturned car in Rosslyn yesterday morning.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. A two-car crash on N. Nash Street, in front of the Turnberry Tower condo building, led to one of the vehicles flipping on its roof.
“It appeared to me that the grey car was pulling out of a parking spot on the east side of N. Nash and it and the black car collided,” said David Mitchell, who witnessed the aftermath of the wreck. “The black car appeared to be going north on N. Nash and the impact of the collision caused the black car to roll over. There did not appear to be any damage to the cars parked on the west side of N. Nash.”
“I did speak to one person who arrived on the scene about the same time as Engine 110,” Mitchell continued. “He reported, ‘the firemen dived right into the car to check on the occupants.’ He was impressed with their actions and the speed at which they worked. I would say that the sole occupant of the black car was extricated within 15 minutes after ACFD’s arrival.”
There were no reports that anyone suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.

A two-vehicle collision resulted in an SUV overturning on Route 1 (Jefferson Davis) this morning.
The crash happened in rainy weather around 10:15 a.m., at the 27th Street S. intersection in Crystal City. An SUV flipped on its roof and a car suffered heavy front-end damage in the wreck.
Two ambulances have been called to the scene, but none of the injuries are reported to be life-threatening.
Northbound Route 1 is down to one lane as crews continue to clean up the wreckage and spilled fluids.
