Police car lightsA middle-aged man with “long white hair in a ponytail” exposed himself to a woman near the Ballston Metro station around 8:40 p.m. on Friday.

Police say the man was urinating in public on the 4200 block of N. Fairfax Drive when he exposed himself to a woman who was walking by.

From a police crime report:

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 160129020, 4200 block of N. Fairfax Drive. At approximately 8:40 p.m. on January 29, an unknown male subject was seen urinating in public and then exposed his genitals to a female victim. The subject is described as a white male in his 50’s-60’s, with long white hair in a ponytail. He was wearing a Washington Redskins baseball cap, blue quilted vest, white undershirt, and blue jeans.


Police car lightsThere’s not much of note on this week’s Arlington County crime report, as the blizzard seems to have had a chilling effect on local criminals.

There were, however, three separate robberies of two 7-Eleven stores reported. Two of the robberies occurred at the tail end of the blizzard.

ROBBERY, 160120044, 3600 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 9:07 p.m. on January 20, two unknown male subjects robbed a 7-11 of an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects then fled on foot. The first suspect is described as a black male in his twenties with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, and black sneakers. The second suspect is described as a black male in his twenties with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, and black sneakers.

ROBBERY, 160124002, 3600 block of S. Columbia Pike. At approximately 12:20 a.m. on January 24, two unknown male subjects robbed a 7-11 of an undisclosed amount of cash. The first suspect is described as a black male, wearing a black jacket with the hood up, white strings hanging from the neck, black gloves, and black pants. The second suspect is described as a black male, wearing a black jacket with a hood, black gloves, and black pants.

ROBBERY, 160124008, 4500 block of N. Lee Highway. At approximately 4:55 a.m. on January 24, a male subject assaulted a 7-11 employee and stole several cigarettes. Mariano Lagdameo, 42, of Arlington VA, was arrested and charged with robbery, obstruction of justice, possession of schedule I/II substance, and drunk in public.

A young man groped a woman’s butt while she was walking in the Columbia Heights West neighborhood last Friday morning.

From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

SEXUAL BATTERY, 160108021, 700 block of S. Dinwiddie Street. At approximately 10:36 a.m. on January 8, an unknown male subject approached a female from behind and groped her buttocks. The suspect is described as a younger male, approximately 5’6″ and weighed 160 lbs. He was wearing a blue hoodie, green/grey cargo pants, and gray shoes.

This past weekend, a Bethesda teen was arrested after allegedly smashing a mug on a man’s head in Clarendon. According to court records, the teen’s defense attorney is state Sen. Scott Surovell.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 160109003, 3000 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1:04 a.m. on January 9, following a verbal altercation, a 19 year-old male victim was allegedly hit over the head with a glass mug. The victim was transported to the hospital with non- life threatening injuries. Jarett Witzal, 18, of Bethesda MD was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.

Police car lightsA man was seen committing a lewd act outside a restaurant near the Clarendon Metro station Monday night.

Police say they’re still investigating the alleged incident, which occurred around 9:40 p.m.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 151228062, 3100 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 9:40 p.m. on December 28, a male subject was seen masturbating outside of a restaurant. The investigation is ongoing.

The 7-Eleven store on 23rd Street in Crystal City was robbed by a knife-wielding man Sunday night, according to this week’s Arlington County crime report.

The suspect made off with cash after robbing an employee at knifepoint. From ACPD:

ARMED ROBBERY, 151214001, 400 block of S. 23rd Street. At approximately 10:44 pm on December 13, a 7-11 employee was robbed of cash at knifepoint by an unknown subject. The suspect fled on foot and is described as a Hispanic male between 6’0-3″ tall and 225 lbs. He was wearing a black jacket, dark colored jeans, black winter hat and tan boots at the time of the incident.

Police car (file photo)A woman woke up early Monday morning to find a man in her kitchen, stealing from her.

The incident happened around 3:45 a.m. at a home near East Falls Church. The suspect fled was was soon found by police and taken into custody.

From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

BURGLARY, 151207009, 2400 block of N. Potomac Street. At approximately 3:45 a.m. on December 7, a female victim awoke to an unknown male subject in her kitchen. The subject fled out the back door taking an undisclosed amount of cash. Shortly after, officers located a subject matching the suspect description and found items belonging to the victims on him. Michael Edward Thomas, 25, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of a controlled substance, petit larceny, and possession of marijuana. He is being held without bond.

On Monday, a woman was allegedly assaulted with a mug and a butter knife in Rosslyn.

From this week’s Arlington County Police Department crime report:

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 151130008, 1300 block of N. Lee Highway. At approximately 7:35 a.m. on November 30, a 51 year-old homeless male subject assaulted a homeless female victim with a mug and stabbed her several times with a butter knife. The victim was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Gary Lynn Champagne, 51, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.

A man pushed a woman to the ground and tried to take her money last Wednesday along Columbia Pike, but fled after a witness intervened.

From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

ROBBERY, 151118069, 3200 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 10:35 p.m. on November 18, a 19 year-old female victim was shoved to the ground after a male subject attempted to steal change from her. The suspect fled the scene after a witness tried to intervene. Marlow Dugger, 37, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with attempted robbery. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.

Police car lightsArlington County Police are on the scene of a reported armed robbery at a gas station in Lyon Park.

The robbery occurred just after 5 p.m., at the Blue Ridge Partners gas and service station on the 2700 block of N. Pershing Drive, at the intersection with Washington Blvd.

Initial reports suggest that two men robbed the store, with one man displaying a small chrome pistol. Then men took cash, an iPhone and Newport cigarette cartons, before fleeing on foot to a nearby black SUV with tinted windows and Maryland tags and then driving off.

Both suspects are described as black males in their 40s with average builds. The first suspect is described as 5’9″, wearing a Washington Redskins jacket. The second is described as 5’10” with a black jacket and a black ski cap.

No one was injured in the robbery.


Police car lightsA Dumfries man has been arrested after police say he was seen running naked across a hotel parking lot.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Thursday morning, at either the Best Western or the Comfort Inn on the 2400 block of S. Glebe Road.

Unsurprisingly, the man was under the influence of drugs at the time, according to police. From an ACPD crime report:

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 151105008, 2400 block of S. Glebe Road. At approximately 2:48 a.m. on November 5, a male subject was seen running through a hotel parking lot naked. The subject appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. Kyle Andrew Anderson, 24, of Dumfries Va, was arrested and charged with indecent exposure.

Police car (file photo)An unscrupulous burglar was not thinking of the children when he stole items from a Rosslyn child care center early Monday morning.

The incident happened around 2:45 a.m. Monday. Police say a man wearing a brown coat and a backpack broke into the Rosslyn Children’s Center (RCC), at 1401 Wilson Blvd, and stole two laptops and a hard drive.

From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

BURGLARY, 151026013, 1400 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 2:45 a.m. on October 26, an unknown subject(s) entered the Rosslyn Children’s Center and stole two laptops and an external drive. The suspect is described as a male wearing a brown coat and backpack at the time of the incident.

RCC was in the news two weeks ago for its plan to move to a new location in Rosslyn.
